Supercharger - Carlsbad, CA - Van Allen Way (LIVE 4 May 2023, 8 V3 stalls)

Thank you. Just clicking refresh did not do it. Had to close window and get back into supercharge.info.

Supercharger - Carlsbad, CA - Van Allen Way (LIVE 4 May 2023, 8 V3 stalls)

Now that this station is live, can a moderator change the yellow hat in the map to a red dot? Thanks

Supercharger - San Diego, CA - Genesee Ave (LIVE 23 Jan 2023, 8 stalls)

The construction hat has not been removed yet from the supercharge.info map

Supercharger - San Diego, CA - Carmel Valley (permit expired Apr 2023, 16 V3 stalls)

No construction yet here. Tesla seemed to have stopped building out all planned San Diego superchargers.

Supercharger - San Diego, CA - Carmel Valley (permit expired Apr 2023, 16 V3 stalls)

That is cool. The One Paseo supercharger is getting full

    Supercharger - Goleta, CA (LIVE 6 May 2020, 12 V3 stalls)

With the transformer installed let’s see if they will be done and open in 2 weeks.

    Supercharger - Goleta, CA (LIVE 6 May 2020, 12 V3 stalls)

Between the 2 in the last picture is a ramp. Bet this is a handicap area

    Supercharger - Goleta, CA (LIVE 6 May 2020, 12 V3 stalls)

Once the green transformer is installed, which is the last part, it should take about 1-2 weeks to get the site energized. So, look for the arrival of the transformer.
  9. T

    Supercharger - Goleta, CA (LIVE 6 May 2020, 12 V3 stalls)

It is hard to say. But from the activity I am reading it may be done with 1-2 months...more like 2 months. Once the pedestals and wiring is in, they need to wait for the big green transformer...that can take from 2 weeks to 1 month, depending.

Supercharger - San Diego, CA - Del Mar Heights Road (CLOSED 16 Sep 2021, 18 urban stalls)

Shocking. In the middle of the day it was full while Qualcomm had openings! La Costa and of course downtown are never completely full. But even if full, the average wait for the car next in line should only be 2.5 minutes mathematically.
  11. T

Supercharger - San Diego, CA - Del Mar Heights Road (CLOSED 16 Sep 2021, 18 urban stalls)

I don’t think we may see it to be filled to the last charger too often in the next 6-12 months. Qualcomm is full less often. Camino Del Sur is equally full. But both have only 12 chargers. This one has 18. If everyone charges for 45 minutes, on average a charger becomes available every 2.5...

Supercharger - San Diego, CA - Del Mar Heights Road (CLOSED 16 Sep 2021, 18 urban stalls)

Was by there last night. All chargers are still covered in plastic. I checked the timing from transformer placement to opening for several super chargers: La Costa: 1 week Camino Del Sur: 2 weeks Friars Road: 3 weeks If 2 weeks is average, this one should be open end of next week, or not, or...

Supercharger - San Diego, CA - Del Mar Heights Road (CLOSED 16 Sep 2021, 18 urban stalls)

Yes. We went from 12 Superchargers to 102 in San Diego in 1 year when this one opens!

Still no transformer installed. The street to the parking garage from Del Mar Heights Blvd is still blocked off.

Supercharger - Laytonville, CA (LIVE Jun 28, 2019, 8 stalls)

I am following a few SC sites. Everything seems to have slowed down in March. Maybe things will pick up in April.

Supercharger - San Diego, CA - Del Mar Heights Road (CLOSED 16 Sep 2021, 18 urban stalls)

Okay. ChargePoint beat Tesla in opening their chargers. Also much less power equipment. I read ChargePoint charges $ 1.00/hr there which is about 5 cent/mile. That is 15cent/kWh vs about 30cent/kWh at the supercharger. ChargePoint is better deal unless you have free supercharging and bring time.

They probably slowed down the spending of money until after the quarter to conserve cash.

Here a picture from this evening. Nothing much changed.

Supercharger - San Diego, CA - Del Mar Heights Road (CLOSED 16 Sep 2021, 18 urban stalls)

Yeah. Nothing changed since I took pictures on February 23, except the fence is gone. The one supercharger is leaning the same way and the conduits to the chargers are still without cables.

Supercharger - Laytonville, CA (LIVE Jun 28, 2019, 8 stalls)

Charge to 90% in Ukiah and you can make it to Eureka (155 miles). Terrain is up and down, so it takes little bit more energy from acceleration.

Supercharger - San Diego, CA - Friars Road (Mission Valley, LIVE 31 Jan 2019, 24 Urban + 24 V3 stalls)

I think that is the one I tried to use before, but did not work

Supercharger - San Diego, CA - Del Mar Heights Road (CLOSED 16 Sep 2021, 18 urban stalls)

There are actually 9 supercharger cabinets, each serving 2 charge pedestals.
  24. T

Supercharger - San Diego, CA - Del Mar Heights Road (CLOSED 16 Sep 2021, 18 urban stalls)

I was just here. I counted 18 chargers. All are standing and are uncovered, one has to be still setup on its pedestal. The 3 images show them from left (north) to right (southeast). Cables still need to be laid from the charge cabinets to the charge pedestals

Supercharger - San Diego, CA - Del Mar Heights Road (CLOSED 16 Sep 2021, 18 urban stalls)

Wow, that is just one month away. Would be great if the SC opened at the same time as the stores.

Supercharger - San Diego, CA - Friars Road (Mission Valley, LIVE 31 Jan 2019, 24 Urban + 24 V3 stalls)

Coming from the South side seems to be quicker than from Friars Rd. Right as you pull into the SC parking lot from the south, the street going straight was badly backed up with people getting into the north parking lots.

Supercharger - San Diego, CA - Friars Road (Mission Valley, LIVE 31 Jan 2019, 24 Urban + 24 V3 stalls)

Used this supercharger on the weekend. Not overcrowded yet. And the mall is actually quite nice. Never knew it was there. Even has a Tesla store.

    Decode battery help

Some interesting thought. 60kwh is 80% of the 75kwh battery. You should be able to charge to 100% all the time without degrading the battery. Try to supercharge to 100% and see how it slows down at the end. It it does not slowdown to a trickle, then they use the total pack and charge each...

Supercharger - San Diego, CA - Friars Road (Mission Valley, LIVE 31 Jan 2019, 24 Urban + 24 V3 stalls)

There are a lot of SC in LA and Orange County east of the 5 freeway, but a big hole in Pomona Valley. Probably most Tesla owners in Pomona Valley live in a house and charge at home. LA chargers get filled up at times but there is often one nearby with open slots. Will be interesting to see how...

Supercharger - Carlsbad, CA (7710 El Camino Real, LIVE 27 Sep 2018, 26 urban stalls)

To get hit with idle fees the charger has to be at least 50% occupied and your car has to stop charging.

    how to: Battery degradation

How about having noted your indicated miles at 80% when new versus now. My Model S 100D started with 268 miles @ 80%. It steadily dropped to now after 23,000 miles to 259 miles @ 80%. I also noticed that my Wh/mile has been dropping by at least 10% over the same time. Any thoughts?

Question about how the door locks work for the rear doors

With child safety OFF, all doors will open normally when car is locked like any other car. In addition the car alarm will go on.

Supercharger - San Diego, CA - Camino Del Sur (Black Mountain Ranch area, LIVE 11 Jan 2019)

This charger station gets full quickly. But assuming that all 12 get randomly populated and everyone charges for 60 minutes which is a lot, then every 5 minutes one should open up. If the average charge time is 30 minutes (gives you 120 miles in a Model S 100D) then every 2.5 minutes a stall...

Supercharger rate increase and cost of electricity in San Diego area

Still. More incentive to charge at home if you don’t live in an apartment without charger. I also got lucky. Our condo complex was the first in Carmel Valley to receive 8 free J1772 chargers from SDG&E in Jan 2018. They still have this program. Anyone in a condo complex should talk to their...

Supercharger - San Diego, CA - Del Mar Heights Road (CLOSED 16 Sep 2021, 18 urban stalls)

Was on top floor today. No activity yet. Behind a covered fence where a handful white what looked like non-descript electrical cabinets. 6x3x3. Nothing else. This may take awhile. Streets around the complex are still under construction. Entrance to the garage is just 1/4 mile or less from...

Supercharger rate increase and cost of electricity in San Diego area

I don’t believe it will change during the day. BTW how much does your super off peak cost per kWh. SD&E has different TOUs.

Supercharger rate increase and cost of electricity in San Diego area

    Worse than Carlsbad. That one is 31 cent. For a Model S that is 10.15 cent/mile or 8.23 cent/mile for a Model 3. A Prius at 50 mpg and $3/gal costs 6 cent/mile.
  40. T

Supercharger - San Diego, CA - Friars Road (Mission Valley, LIVE 31 Jan 2019, 24 Urban + 24 V3 stalls)

FYI..at Carlsbad supercharger the kWh is now 31 cent and at 4S Ranch it is 34 cent. Will be interesting to see what it will be here.

Supercharger - Carlsbad, CA (7710 El Camino Real, LIVE 27 Sep 2018, 26 urban stalls)

    Yikes. For a Model S that is 9.25 cent/mile or 7.5 cent/mile for a Model 3. A Prius at 50 mpg and $3/gal costs 6 cent/mile.

Here are my observations from using urban 72kW chargers: Went to the Carlsbad charger. I have a Model S 100D. Charged from 29% to 80% = 168 miles. Got a nice constant 74kW, at close to 80% it tapered down. Whole charge took 42 minutes. Unlike the 120kW chargers these are not paired, so you get...

Periodic vibration/shaking of car above 65 mph

PROBLEM SOLVED: It was one of the tires. 6 months ago I had this tire patched (nail went thru thread). Inside the tire is a 2 inch thick foam ring for extra sound damping. They had to cut a piece of foam out to put the patch down. Over the last 6 month the foam ring came loose and bunched up on...
