    Market value for Plaid

Lots of platitudes here. No one is expecting a profit. Not expecting record setting depreciation seems fairly reasonable. Btw I have a few cars in the garage which out performed the stock market.

    Market value for Plaid

Not true. Sold my 21 RS7 with 20k on the clock for a 7k loss. Friend lost $24k selling a 21 E63S back to the dealer with 11k on the clock 2 weeks ago. We get shafted to the tune of $60-70k. The difference is that “hold backs and rebates” aren’t available to everyone. Also those don’t equate to...

    Market value for Plaid

There are a LOT of fanboy responses in here that give Tesla/Elon the ability to engage in unprecedented price drops with impunity. No matter what he does, this blindly devoted telsa group will continue to Tout how great the car is. How wonderful the car is is completely different than...

Tesla FSD 10.69.3.1 going to wide release now

Got it at 4am. Can’t wait to try it. I got my Tesla in June. Signed up for the Beta in august. Was one of the people who upgraded the base software past the last “mass release”. Got 2022.36.6 a few weeks ago then 2022.36.20 today with FSD 10.69.3.1 today.

Cabin camera more aggressive in Autopilot 2022.36.2 update?

I upgraded to 2022.36.6 this morning. Drove 43 miles to the office mostly on autopilot. Never disengaged. I was not overtly attentive. Put my wallet away. Moved the my handgun from one compartment to the other. Never booted.

PSA You will NOT get into the FSD beta if you already have 2022.24 or higher.

Well the last FSD of 10.69.2.X required 2022.20.X and older base software. That clearly establishes real precedence of backward compatibility and no forward compatibility. That requirement still stands today.

    software upgrade 22.36.6 and FSD

Clearly FSDb candidacy has zero association with luck. It’s hubris to believe that “chances are” higher if you do or do not upgrade. Fact of the matter is that no one here truly knows the policy behind their FSD upgrade algorithm. What IS clear is that FSD compatibility is tied with base...

Well I just updated mine to 2022.36.6 based on the info here. Hopefully that was the right move

PSA You will NOT get into the FSD beta if you already have 2022.24 or higher.

I’m on 2022.28.2 and have not received an update for weeks. Today I got offered 2022.36.6. Haven’t pushed “install” yet but am hoping that it’s the right thing to do.

FSD Beta for versions with 2022.28.2 or 2022.24

For everyone here, my bet is that they will offer a software upgrade that’s needed to get FSD. Wonder if it’s going to be labeled as FSD or if we will have gm uograde again to 2922.x.X in hopes that the FSD is packaged with it. If that happens, it’s entirely possible we are upgraded again to...

    12V Access: Model S 2021 Refresh

I didn’t need to remove my mirror to tap that wire. I did need to remove the plastic piece by the mirror to allow the trim panel that houses the camera to drop and expose the wire/plug.

Has anyone installed a radar detector in a updated 2021 model S?

I guess some of us are way past worrying about the possibility of blowing a fuse. I’ve never had a car that is 100% stock. Not one and I’ve owned close to 80. A few of my cars don’t have the OEM internals in the engine and one car is about to change engines, transmissions, transfer case, and...

    12V Access: Model S 2021 Refresh

Yes. It won’t turn off while the vehicle is charging. It will, however, turn off after it goes to sleep. That’s when it’s not charging and just parked. Usually takes 30min-1 hr if it’s just sitting there. If you use your phone as a key, that will wake the car when it’s near and that starts the...

Has anyone installed a radar detector in a updated 2021 model S?

Not sure why people just don’t wiretap the mirror. It not switched to turn off immediacy but goes to sleep when the car is done charging or after an hour-ish of idle time. 5 min install and it’s clean

NHTSA Close to forcing recall of FSD after more crashes

EVERY auto manufacturer peddling some level of driver assistance in vehicles has room for improvement. That said, from the latest from Mercedes Benz and Audi to GM, no one’s driver assistance is as good as Tesla’s. I can say this because I have owned all of them. Maybe those are just so...

Ordered originally on battery day. Wasn’t thrilled when saw an early car, cancelled the order and bought an Audi RS7. Traded the RS7 to an R8 and need a new daily. Ordered another plaid on 3/21. Date was originally 5/27-6/28. Then it was moved to 6/10-7/7. Moved last week to 6/8 to 6/29. I’m...

    Tesla updating Model S headlights

for Those that think the current headlights are sufficient - have you owned many other high end cars? I find in the Tesla community that there are SOME "car guys" but there are a quite a few that have bought a Tesla or even a plaid simply because its electric. If you're coming out of an Audi...

    Tesla updating Model S headlights

It may not be that easy to swap headlights. Other manufacturers such as Porsche or even Land Rover have backward comparability issues with older models. When JLR updated the Range Rover sport, the updated tail lights didn’t work with the electronics. Same with the Porsche 991.1 transition to...

    2016.5 P90D to 2022 Plaid Impressions

Thanks for the very objective and thoughtful review. Its refreshing to read a review from the perspective of the "car guy". Personally, I dont care if it is electric. The capabilities of the car and experience provided by the car are important to me. I had a 2015 P90D. It was quick, but lacked...

I have a set of slightly used ADV.1 Pulse MV1 wheels. These two piece wheels cost over $8500 new without tires. $10k with tires. Overall weight savings with three of 26.4 pounds of rotational mass over the OEM 21 wheels. Pulse MV1 wheel sizes are: Front: 21″ x 9.0″ ET30 Rear: 21″ x 10.5″...

Tesla tech is great, but other companies are starting to push

Key is "once it gets here". With the other auto manufacturers lagging in FSD capabilities, I am doubtful congress is going to be in any hurry to nudge Tesla forward with regulatory approval. Government move slow, not expeditiously. We aren't waiting for the speed of the free market to have FSD...

Tesla tech is great, but other companies are starting to push

Fact of the matter is that buyers in the $80K+ luxury car market are a fickle bunch. Take a look at used S-Class, 7-series, Audi A8, Jaguar XJ values- They all plummet. MS values drop as well, but not as badly as the other luxury saloons. Once there are other players in this space, my guess is...

    Handling: prepare to be surprised

I think this is debatable. My bet is that many of us who have bought P85DL, P90DL, P100DL cars bought them because of their capabilities - that most of us willing to spend >$100K on a commuter were/are petrolheads that are also early adopters of technology. Basically Im saying that its debatable...

    Handling: prepare to be surprised

I cant speak on behalf of all supercar buyers, but I can say that my circle of friends do care- a lot. It doesnt mean it wont sell, but I do think it does mean that it may not have the long term provenance once there is a larger presence of track-capable offerings in the marketplace. For now, I...

    I jumped in...on a CPO

I jumped in on a CPO P85D two months ago. The purchase process (in Texas) was the worst of ANY car I have ever purchased. That being said, the experience from delivery onward has been incredible. Tesla needs to get their act together on used/pre-owned/CPO cars. They gave me 6 pictures to make a...

Tesla tech is great, but other companies are starting to push

I couldnt disagree more. One of the primary reasons Tesla has enjoyed the success it has is that it proves that the electric car platform can have performance as good or better than the ICE platform. Insofar that is why many car enthusiasts migrated to the tesla platform. Personally the "carbon...

Yes. Just don't live in California. In texas we just pay tolls and the HOV lane turns into a toll road.

Tesla tech is great, but other companies are starting to push

Agree on your perspective in the UK. Try the heat reflecting glass in Texas. Pretty hard to do when the MS is missing cameras in the mirrors or other suitable locations. Not sure if this is the case with newer cars with FSD. Have the premium interior too. Unless something changed on the 2016...

    Handling: prepare to be surprised

I agree that the "standard" luxury car or sports car owner doesnt track their car. Id argue that a notable amount of supercar owners do track their car. While many Porsche GT owners dont track their cars, its fairly safe to say that many do. when compared with a M3, or AMG mercedes, Id say that...

Tesla tech is great, but other companies are starting to push

Ive had my Model S for 2 months now and have had my share of other luxury and supercars. IMHO, Tesla has a fantastic electronics stack, and has some gimmicks that others dont have. Tesla is also missing some basics and some forward thinking that the competition has in it's wheelhouse. Tesla has...

    Handling: prepare to be surprised

The new roadster will be an incredible car from a top speed and acceleration perspective, but that's about it. Unless Tesla makes significant improvements/changes on its approach to battery cooling, aero, braking etc, looking at the roadster from a "handling" perspective is somewhat lopsided...
