    Demo / Service Loaner Questions

Service loaners are usually opened up for sale as "inventory vehicles" near end of quarter. From my time there, Tesla basically pushed every EOQ to sell all inventory vehicles (i.e. service loaners, showroom/test drive cars, and brand new "demo" cars from the factory) which created a vacuum...

    How accurate are these email?

As a former DS, I say trust it for the most part. They go based on factory estimates + a day for logistics + a day for PDI & detail. The holdup that can happen is end of line (EOL) repairs. If it goes into that, it's almost impossible to give an accurate ETA, but they almost always get them done...

    Car damaged during delivery

I wouldn't ask for a new door. That's going to cause massive delays and headaches for the center when they could just fix it. A lot of cars that undergo end of line inspection have similar repairs done at the factory in the EOL Repairs. It makes basically no difference that it was caught at the...

Purchasing car with two required signatures

When I left the company, they became SUPER enforcers of both parties being present to sign off for delivery. The main reason for this is compliance with the DMV and banks. Technically, both parties need to be present at delivery on the date printed on the documents- especially because cash and...

9 Days in, First Problem :(

I saw this happen every now and then. It's most likely just the latch needing replacement. Shouldn't be a big deal for them to fix!

Refresh S60 with AP1? Questions about AP, range upgrade and Cali HOV

Hey there! Ex-Tesla Delivery Specialist here! I think you should consider your range needs and acceleration needs when debating the two powertrains. The 60 realistically gets around 200 miles. The 75D will get you around 230 in the real world. The acceleration and sensitivity of driver input...

Well call your SC and ask for a ranger to come out and try it themselves. If they see first-hand, it'll probably help them diagnose what's going on. I've not heard of this issue, and I have many close friends with M3's too.

To the best of my knowledge, you can't upgrade a 90 to a 100 kW. I remember that there was some mechanical/physical difference that wouldn't allow for a swap. In all honesty, the range isn't really worth the huge financial costs if it could happen. Unless you're always almost running out of...

Hmmm... Not really sure why people couldn't answer that. The ESA does not roll over into new ownership. You're also unable to get a new ESA. Maybe it's changed now- I'm not sure.

Not sure what's going on there, especially if the logs report normal functionality. The charge port sensor in the S/X is in the C pillar, so maybe try aiming it there on the 3?

We didn't care really... We drove the cars every day, saw the happiness (for the most part) the cars brought to people, we drove the competitor's vehicles... We knew that Tesla would and will stand the test of time. The cars are too damn good for the most part. People like to scrutinize and...

MUFFINS!! They'll also probably be accommodating depending if the delivery person who knows how to properly execute the paperwork is there. There is absolutely nothing worse than incorrectly signing somewhere and having to chase somebody down to get it fixed. The DMV and banks are SUPER strict...

Sorry but I'm not going to be much help here. I know that any aftermarket addition technically voids warranties, but usually the SC's were pretty accommodating and reasonable. With regards to parts, I don't think Tesla can sell parts out of their inventory. What kind of basic parts are you...

We'd get 50-60 emails from the time we leave work, to the time we get back in the morning! That'd be an easy night. During the day, we'd get floods of emails and calls on top of that.

I've seen that happen a few times. Every now and then, the 12V's would take a dump once the client took delivery. 12V failures were always those unfortunate situations that couldn't be caught prior to delivery since they would function properly through the PDI and detail. Sorry if that happened...

1- Prices are adjusted based solely on mileage if my memory serves me correctly. 2- Not sure what the cutoff point is. I think the rule was anything over 30k miles is considered a CPO rather than inventory. Which is pretty high. Again, not really positive on this one. I don't recall what the...

At first it was a good fit. The luster of it all disappeared after a while for me and many others. I'm very thankful for the insane experiences I had with Tesla, but I'm glad I got out when I did. The job just took over my life, and wasn't worth the stresses and low pay.

Yes, always trust your DS rather than the updates that MyTesla gives you. Those MyTesla updates are for massive amounts of vehicles based on their end of line production date. Delivery estimates were always the hardest part, because it's basically a guessing game until the car is on a truck...

Thank you! You said it perfectly! Tesla is second to none when it comes to scaling within and disrupting an industry. It's going to be a bumpy ride for a while I imagine, but eventually processes and operations will normalize. During my time at the company, it was like having a new job every...

In the early days we could definitely be more accommodating. The problem with promises being broken is that sales will promise a lot of things that are completely out of their control. Delivery is the department that actually makes things happen once a car is ordered. Sales people basically...

Good question!!! The best way is to ask a sales person for the VIN. They can ping the vehicle to see where it's located and then somebody can snap photos for you.

Honestly, I’ve never heard of Luda being added to a P85D and really have my doubts that they’d do it for anybody. I had a handful of clients pushing and pushing for it, but it never once happened. Your P85D is still one of the quickest cars out there- enjoy it!

Ha-ha! Just tell them straight up so that they can properly prepare for a longer window of time. As shady as this sounds, money/gift cards are the best way to their hearts. They don’t get paid well, so anything to help people financially at tesla is always HUGELY appreciated.

Production timelines were an issue- sales saying one thing blindly to get a sale vs. the reality of production. Tiny imperfections post-delivery. Trade estimates too low. Pretty much anything and everything you could think of. I'd say 20% of customers were just miserable people that held...

I'd say 20% are pains. I had so many customers demand cars being driven to their home to take delivery (There's almost never enough man power for that), a guy bring a flashlight and spend 4 hours combing all of the paint to see any minor clear coat mark (rejected delivery due to a 1mm defect)...

I can't really speak much for M3 deliveries, but I know that they were a total *sugar* show (Sorry for cursing). It was quite literally the definition of growing pains. You have to point out imperfections at delivery and put on a "due bill". We'll send them to the shops if necessary, but will usually attempt a correction in house. Don't take your vehicle to somebody to correct without having your service center take a look. Tesla can't pay for something you do...

The ~5000 vehicles or so off the production line for new models tend to have these issues. The problem with panel gaps are that they take forever to address when we receive the vehicles. Shops have to have all surrounding panels taken off to realign. It's definitely something that they can do...

Collision repairs are solely in the hands of the contracted 3rd party body shops. Depends on the severity of damage and the body shop's queue of vehicles.

Discounts are non existent at Tesla. The best way to save money is getting an inventory (not CPO) vehicle. They're usually showroom, test drive, or loaner vehicles. However, they will not be perfect, so don't get angry at minor paint chips or wear.

We definitely emphasize that point due to the misleading nature of the name "autopilot". It's just to be used whenever one would use adaptive cruise control in any other car. There is always a huge rush to get cars in before EOQ for accounting purposes, but do not take the offer of "direct delivery" to your home. It's just not worth it. They'll still deliver cars that are ordered near EOQ the subsequent quarter though, so you're probably not going to have to wait...

Delivery doesn't get bonuses really. It's $5 per car delivered. Sales can rake in the cash if they hit certain numbers of certain cars. Honestly, they don't make much unless they're at the tippity top sales person. It sucks to say, but Tesla really allures prospective employees w/promises of...
