Does a battery ever have a positive ROI with net metering

Think of your Tesla wh/mile when doing 40mph. That’s what my geo is normally doing. Just maintaining. Now what is your Tesla wh/mi doing 0-60mph up hill -20F with heat towing 5k lbs. That’s what geothermal can do if asked. It’s 4 ton water furnace.

Does a battery ever have a positive ROI with net metering

That is with the car (but we don’t drive much) and I have zero fossil fuel heat sources and I live in the northeast. That is my total energy usage. I planned it that way so I could cover everything with solar. I might be a little shy. Partly why I was interested in a battery to squeak more out...

Does a battery ever have a positive ROI with net metering

Geothermal is efficient. Peak load has nothing to do with average load. Like I said I’ve never seen it pull more than 2kw and typically it’s less than 1kw. But since it can pull those watts that’s what they would wire it up for. Your Tesla can charge at 250kw. Does that make it inefficient?

Does a battery ever have a positive ROI with net metering

Problem is the GeoThermal is on 2 breakers. A 50A and a 60A. It has a backup straight electric heating element but the fan is on that circuit too. Plus hot water 30A. Plus well 20A. Plus Fridge 20A. That’s 160A + amps. They would design backup for peak load. So they would probably require 4...

Does a battery ever have a positive ROI with net metering

It’s a brand new Post and Beam with SIP panel roof and walls (solid foam). With GeoThermal it cost $150 to heat in January. The only fossil fuel I use is Propane for Generator and BBQ. It also has an ERV system because it’s so tight we’d poison our self’s without it. You can see the SIP...

Does a battery ever have a positive ROI with net metering

The problem with backup is I use 50Kwh a day on average In winter. House is entirely electric. Geo thermal heat etc. spring / fall is 30kwh a day and summer ~40kwh a day. We work from home. My Model S 2.5 years old and has 16K miles. And I expect that driving rate to even go lower. So cutting...

CT eversource net metering and RECS confusion / issues

Can’t help you but 400 KWh at $.03 / KWh is $12 not $90.00 In MA RECs had to be all set up with a broker. All my Solar company did was give me a name. And that name set everything up. Good luck.

Does a battery ever have a positive ROI with net metering

Can someone critique my back of the napkin ROI on adding a Battery to my Solar system. I have a 15Kw Enphase system (new) I live in NH with Eversource at $0.24 / KWh 200 Amp service. Eversource offers 75% NetMetering (I think, I get mixed info on how it’s calculated). No off peak rates...

Is AGI need to reach FSD?

This Medium article (link at bottom) is really good at explaining why AGI (Artificial General Intelligence ) is really hard. So hard, that we may never achieve it due to cost, energy and legal challenges. He calls out many of Elon’s claims. Which he may or may not be right on. And picks on FSD...

OT: Cost to Install Single Zone Mini Split

To be fair, contractors are not installing $1,000 units. They install Mitsubishi and other high end units. Probably $3,000-ish for 12K BTU. But yes, all the contractors take the tax breaks and then some. Capitalism/Supply and demand, they all do it. I paid way over what I should have for Solar...

OT: Cost to Install Single Zone Mini Split

I installed a Home Depot one (identical to MrCool) myself. After (State) Rebate ($600.00) it cost me $300.00. Works perfect. MrCool uses pre charged lines. The one I got from Home Depot did not. But I bought vacc pump and gauge from Amazon for like $100.00. Learned a lot doing it and actually...

Tesla build quality and a tale of caution

Stalk or no stalk argument [not] settled

What, a good economy causes stress now? As far as I can tell Canada is doing ok, maybe not quite as good as USA but not bad.

Stalk or no stalk argument [not] settled

On my S the PRND buttons light up if the screen malfunctions. They are always functioning but not always lit. Not sure what 3/Y do for backup. I suspect there is a backup.

    Model Y Competition: Rivian R2 Price & Specs Leaked! -- $47500, 0-60 3 Sec, 330 Miles Range

It’s lower per mile in some places but not in a lot of places. And a lot of superchargers are very high. My Model S runs about equal to a 35 mpg in my area. A 400 wh/mi would be about equal to a 25 mpg in my area. Check out these charts.

    Model Y Competition: Rivian R2 Price & Specs Leaked! -- $47500, 0-60 3 Sec, 330 Miles Range

One thing people keep ignoring is efficiency. How good will the efficiency be on the R2. The R1 is awful. I think in the long run efficiency is gonna hold back the Cybertruck. Even the X for it’s size and weight does quite good at efficiency. A lot of the public assume all EV’s are super...

    Model S Refresh Mud/Splash Guards

They all look similar but are not the same. I bought ones from the member here and fit was so bad I returned them. They were bought through Amazon.

    Model S Refresh Mud/Splash Guards

They come off WAY easier than those damn clips. One screw is stronger than 2 clips too. I have brutal winters living on a 1 mile dirt road in central NH and have never torn up any flap. Mud is brutal in spring. Even the OEM one help together (with 1” off).

    Fair Price 2023 Model S

1-2K definitely wouldn’t be worth selling private. It’s a big headache / risk / time selling a newish Tesla private. I think it would be more like 5-10K.

My car started to lose its mind

First it started with setting GPS for a two hour trip. And when I put in my target location I was gonna be 15 min late. Damn. But as I’m driving I notice the clock is off by 15 minutes ahead. And why I was 15 min late. Was talking to a friend and he said just reboot while driving. I try not...

    Fair Price 2023 Model S

Were you able to do those all online? With just a VIN. Tesla offered $46 for my 22 with FSD $15K miles. I tried Kelly Blue Book and would not give me an answer. Accept a lot of my hone calls and emails from dealers. I think CarMax said I had to bring it in. Which seems to always happen...

    Deliveries of $80k X?

I had been ignoring this thread because I thought it only applied to the Short Range X. I have a 22 Model S Refresh now. Pretty happy with it. But Winter in NH living on a dirt road is tough. I had an X before. I would miss the range and efficiency of the S. But tax break, FSD transfer, $46K...

    Yet another 100% charging question

That’s because you don’t replace your car as often as your phone. My iPhone batteries are *sugar* after a little over a year charging to 100%. I immediately use the new feature to only charge to 80%. Still at 100% capacity. I’d normally see it starting to drop by now. I normally charge my car to...

Does anyone have experience with a SolarEdge system (panels + battery) and a SolarEdge EV charger?

    Model S Refresh Mud/Splash Guards

Don’t use the clips. They don’t hold and cause trouble. They are not on Amazon. I bought them direct from RPM Tesla. If you look very close they are not the same. Are they much better than BASENOR? Don't know, but after the first batch I would not touch BASENOR again. Also read the Amazon...

    Model S Refresh Mud/Splash Guards

I had almost identical ones on Model 3 and X and they held up fine. Biggest negative is those stupid clips. They don’t hold rigidly. If they are moving around the will eat at the paint. That’s why I put the screw. These are not budging. I could have put some PPF. Maybe I will, but I’ve never...

    Model S Refresh Mud/Splash Guards

I moved to a home on a dirt road in N.H. Lot of mud and the OEM flaps were not cutting it. I’m not sure anything can tbh. But I decided to try the ones from RPM Tesla They fit 10x better than the other 3rd party ones I tried. I absolutely hate the metal clips on any of these. I used 1 screw...

    Future Model S?

I think S and X have to stay and keep up. They are symbols. A lot of buyers see an X but can’t afford one and buy a Y. Tesla needs bragging rights Fastest SUV fastest 4 door sedan. They may not have highest direct sales but they impact sales indirectly. A lot of buyers buy say a 3 knowing an S...

The Cybertruck is more expensive to supercharge than a Ford F-150 costs in gas

I was considering the CT but after looking at what it will cost to charge, I thought it’s just a non starter. We just got Solar but the CT would likely push me well into not having enough production to cover it. CT gets about half the MPGe that my Model S does (EPA is 240 wh/mile my lifetime...

    500 mile range? LOL

Sorry if these have been shared already. But the Cybertruck is incredible. Ethernet bus, 48V, custom stainless, huge stamped components just tons of bold moves. I really want one. But I really don’t want to make a “statement” with my car. My S blends in. But there are to many crazy people...

How many of you will/may transition to CyberTruck?

I really wanted to like the Cybertruck. I have a 22 Model S now with OEM hitch. I tow often with short distances. I live on a dirt road in the northeast. Last winter was not bad. Actually spring mud season is the toughest. But a bad winter could be trouble. Clearance is the biggest issue and...

Charging from Excess Solar with Teslapy

So what are 3P solutions that can do this. I just had an Enphase PV installed. Currently I just set the Offpeak End at 3PM and hits a good portion of Solar. I really don’t have time to fiddle. Already have huge coding projects on the side. Curious what ROI is if I bought 3P solution? 20...

High resolution audiophile flac file playback, 24bit audio solution

I use dBpoweramp for conversion. Good discovery. Thanks for sharing. i have seen this multiples 44.1 before dealing with SACD or something. If your system is 48khz based resampling from 44khz causes problems. Since most music is 44.1 you are better off the system be 44.1 based and not have to...
