I'm looking at buying a new set of tires that is known to be 10-15% less efficient than the OEMs. Does anyone know if the Tesla navigation system eventually considers the decrease in efficiency when scheduling charging stops? Does the car uses my own historical consumption when performing the...
You're right. But even my 2012 Genesis will disable cruise control when there's too much snow on the bumper. I don't know why it has to be this way but it seems to be imposed by the radar technology the system is based on.
Once the radar detects an obstruction due to ice and snow, it's already too late. At that point Autopilot becomes unusable and we can't even turn on the simple cruise control. Getting the radar area on the bumper warm enough to melt ice and snow could take a while going at 65 mph.
Now that winter has arrived I find the "auto" setting to be pushing an insufficient amount of warm air around the legs. I have to manually select both the upper and lower vents to be comfortable. This should be fixed with software.

So are we saying that the radar behind the front bumper on the MY isn't heated? Darn, I really was hoping it was. I've had several instances with my 2018 M3 when the car refused to turn on cruise control because of wet snow sticking to the bumper.
I opened a service ticket regarding this issue not knowing if my car was one of them. After messaging with a tech I was told it applies to all model Ys. Either the tech doesn't know or the scope has been expanded.

The best way is to open a service ticket using the app. How long have you had the car? When I picked my car in Ohio, I was told I had around 40 days to put through a Due Bill to have all my issues corrected.
There's a possible conflict of interest betweenTesla writing the SB and doing the work. We have to trust Tesla to do the right thing because there's no incentive to do the work when there's no revenue. A dealer gets paid by the manufacturer when it performs a SB.
Obviously my comment does not...
Don't need to be a smartass. You know what I meant. The guy is basically quoted between $1500 and $2000 just in labor which seems high for that kind of a job. I recently got three quotes for a new gas furnace that ran from $3500 to $6500 so you have to shop around. Three quotes minimum.
Try rebooting your phone. Then touch the Bluetooth icon on the car's screen top right corner and make sure your phone is connected. This has happened to me and it could be a bug with 40.8
I installed the whole thing myself, a breaker, a 70' cable and a some hardware and the whole thing cost me less than $300. The price he's charging you seems on the high-end.
Unfortunately Tesla hasn't implemented multiple stops in their navigation software which makes planning for multi-day trips harder than it should. For example, the Tesla navigation may get you to your destination with 30 miles left and the closest supercharger on the way to your next destination...
My Y appears to be losing around 2 miles per day. I am not using Sentry mode and I keep the car in a non-heated garage. I'm going to monitor it more closely and report back.
Tesla's strategy is to push hotels and other facilities to start collecting charging fees from patrons thus allowing them to afford multiple chargers. These gen3 chargers with wifi connectivity will allow Tesla to collect the fees on behalf of the hotels and other purveyors while managing...
Maybe I missed something because I can't see the vin numbers associated with each bulletin. Without the vins this is an interesting curiosity but it's not helpful to me.
What are you doing for tpms sensors on winter tires and rims packages? Tire Rack says they don't sell them.
[Update:] after additional research I found that the tpms sensors must be purchased from Tesla directly at $75 each. Model 3 sensors are not compatible. Model Y sensors use bluetooth...
If you want an electric car that you can use for traveling, not just for commuting, Tesla is the only game in town. I traded my M3 for a MY and I am still waiting for the 11 issues I documented to be corrected (I'm supposed to pick the car this evening finger crossed). It's very disappointing...
I documented 11 issues with pictures and descriptions. Got an appointment and was told the car would be ready 3 workdays later. They gave me a loaner. On the final day I got a call saying they had not worked on the car and I will have to wait another 4 days. So, yeah Telsa makes lots of cars but...
Even Monroe criticized the production quality out of Freemont. He predicts the Texas plant will have much better line workers and producing better assembled cars. He predicts buyers like us will request Texas-built cars.
I'm also with Progressive and that's what I did. For some unknown reason I am saving over $300 a year with the MY over the M3 for the exact same coverage. Sweet. It will pay for my homelink.
I bought a compressor kit when I got my M3 and I am transferring it to my new MY. Being environmentally concerned, this is much better than producing a whole bunch of never-used compressor kits that will end up in a landfill 10 years later.
I'm not advocating for a specific sound but shouldn't we have a universal sound shared by all ev brands so that pedestrians will automatically associate the sound with a nearby moving ev, i.e. like trucks going beep beep when backing up?
Trucks go beep beep beep when backing and I'm sure they are highly visible and that the truck drivers don't intend to run people over. But people at times are distracted, so a little sound to pull them out of their reverie is something we all should learn to live with if it saves lives. Backing...
For some unknown reason to me, the insurance cost on my model Y is $320 less a year than the 2-year old M3 that I traded. That will pay for the homelink module I had to buy. It will also pay for the lifetime data I lost when I switched car.
You can't do that. A wall charger uses 40 amps so you can't have two on the same circuit.
And the idea that the chargers will use their wifi to share power is misconstrued. How would a charger know it's standalone as opposed to be sharing a circuit with another charger that happens to have its...
Someone said that a pedestrian needs to be detected by the car before the forward sound starrs. It was also said that after passing the pedestrian, the sound stops. If that's true, then I'm cool with it.
All these talks about disabling the pws and no one seems to worry about being sued into oblivion if a pedestrian gets hurt because of it.
I went shopping at Costco and the only times I heard the sound is when I back out of my garage and the parking at Costco for a grand total of 10 seconds...
