FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

Oh, I know, but the behavior is also clearly different from what it does when using EAP even on the same software build. When I switched back to EAP this morning, following distance immediately became more comfortable (longer), and stopping for cars ahead of me also became more gradual. And Go...

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

I received v12 on Sunday. I took it for a Trader Joe's run, which is a simple drive from my house, around 7 miles, almost entirely on one road. On the way there, it did extremely well, much better than any v11 build I had previously tried. Driving was smooth, and I was particularly impressed...

FSD Owners - Do any of you prefer leaving it off?

I really wish I could use the FSD driving engine but have EAP functionality, i.e., I make all the lane change and navigation decisions. Unfortunately, doing that would require me to turn off navigation, as evidently you have done, but I really like having nav on the screen. Maybe someday...

Navigation Satellite imagery not following light / dark mode w/2023.40.33.8?

I noticed this a few weeks ago as well. Has only happened to me once, so far as I can remember - satellite imagery still showing at night. I manually switched over to regular maps. Next time I drove, in daylight, satellite maps were correctly back without my having to do anything. Haven't seen...

    2023 Holiday Update Imminent

Fully agree. Now if they'd just include an Audible.com app, I could do away with Bluetooth audio in the car entirely.

    Low Regen mode coming back?

Fair enough. I have found just the opposite, but will admit that it took me several days to get used to full one-pedal driving. Now that I've done so, I would never want to go back. I find it extremely smooth. Admittedly, it would be nice to be able to occasionally adjust my foot's position...

    Low Regen mode coming back?

I've never been able to figure out a practical use case for Roll. As far as I'm concerned, all it does is replicate one of the few undesirable behaviors of a manual transmission - rolling backwards on a slope if your foot is not on the brake. But maybe I am missing something - what do you use it...

Autopilot randomly changes set speed on DC I66 Express Lanes

It took Tesla 5 years to finally figure out how to incorporate the express lanes adjacent to I-75 on the north side of metro Atlanta into its navigation routings. There are still a few spots where the car suddenly thinks it's on an off-ramp from the main highway that is directly below the...

FSD Owners - Do any of you prefer leaving it off?

Yes, I've used "mimimize lane changes" but the car still seems to want to change lanes when I don't want it to, often because it wants to follow a route that I don't, I think. A good example is leaving Midtown Atlanta on I-75/85 northbound. I'm usually in the HOV lane, and need to stay on I-75...

FSD Owners - Do any of you prefer leaving it off?

I paid for FSD three years ago when it was on sale, mostly so I could get HW3, as I figured that would give me the best possible on-highway EAP experience, which I do value. Since actually installing FSD software about a year ago, I've used it a handful of times on surface streets, and as I...

Car slowing unnecessarily for slower cars in adjacent lane on EAP for anyone else?

Thanks - that does make sense. Unfortunately, "Use HOV Lanes" has always been switched on for me, so I don't think this is the issue. Thanks anyhow!
  12. E

Car slowing unnecessarily for slower cars in adjacent lane on EAP for anyone else?

No, as I said in my post, this is not what's happening. I'm very familiar with what you posted. That happens at high speed and is subtle. My problem is at very low speeds and is not subtle at all; moreover, the chevrons do not appear in the adjacent lane on the screen when my issue happens.
  13. E

Car slowing unnecessarily for slower cars in adjacent lane on EAP for anyone else?

For several months now, when in bumper-to-bumper traffic, if my lane (usually the HOV lane, to the far left) is moving faster than the traffic in the lane to my right, my car, while on EAP, will suddenly lock onto one of the cars in the lane to the right and slow down as if it's actually in my...

Enhanced AutoPilot performance poor recently? (2020 Model3 Ver 2022.28.2)

This last one has been a problem for me lately as well. I have put in a service request and they started communicating with me about it today. When it happens, a car on the screen in the adjacent (slower) lane turns black, as if my car has decided that it has decided to switch to it as the lead...

    Rear Cross Traffic Alert

I'm still not sold on backing into spaces in most cases. If I'm trying to pull forward out of a spot and there is a large pickup or SUV either side of me, I can't see anything to the side until my car is a good 1/3 of the way out of the spot. If I'm reversing out of the spot, my Model 3's rear...

FSD problem dealing with exit lanes

It's pretty good with EAP - not perfect, mind you, so I'm always extra vigilant in these areas, but it's generally better than it used to be. FSD is much worse, however. On the few occasions I have actually used FSD, I have left it engaged until it started to mess up, so I could send a message...

FSD problem dealing with exit lanes

Yes, I see what you mean regarding the right-hand merge lanes. However, I really am talking about left-hand exits from the highway. While on FSD, if I encounter one while driving in the HOV lane - there are two on my way to the office and three on my way home - the car starts to take them even...

FSD problem dealing with exit lanes

It's "solved" in FSD for right-hand exits, but FSD is absolutely terrible with left-hand exits, e.g., from the HOV lane. Every time I pass one, it tries to take it, even though the visualization on the screen as well as the GPS route show that the car plans to continue straight. It's very...

When will Tesla add the following to the Route Planner: SOC at Arrival - Deleting individual Charge Starions - Display Non Tesla Charge Stations

Someone made a true statement - the same one I made earlier - and you disliked it. Seems like you're not going to be satisfied, regardless. In five years of using TeslaFi and other third-party sites and apps, I've never once had a lick of trouble.

First Highway FSD experience: Any chance that FSD is using a different navigation engine?

Maybe Terrell Mill rather than Delk? Delk doesn't have express lane access. Regardless, sounds like your experience largely mirrors mine. The car did suggest using the express lanes this morning, telling me to take the Roswell Road entrance from the get-go. This morning, I tried FSD on the...

Has Basic Autopilot improved (and phantom braking decreased) since radar was removed? (About to buy!)

Funny, I'd say the stop-and-go behavior of my car is probably a bit better than it was when my radar was still active. It really does seem like owners' experiences - and perhaps their cars - are all somewhat different. Go Noles !

Has Basic Autopilot improved (and phantom braking decreased) since radar was removed? (About to buy!)

This does not reflect my experience, unfortunately. My morning commute has a speed limit of 65 for most of the first 10 miles. I drive on EAP and use a 10% offset, so the automatically set maximum speed is 72. As I near the city center, the speed limit drops to 55. The car correctly picks up the...

Has Basic Autopilot improved (and phantom braking decreased) since radar was removed? (About to buy!)

I think you're onto something there. Definitely seems plausible. When my 2018 Model 3 was still on radar, used to have occasional phantom braking issues at two different overpasses. I was never able to tell if it was the very structure that was causing the problem, which could have involved...

Has Basic Autopilot improved (and phantom braking decreased) since radar was removed? (About to buy!)

I have had a Model 3 with EAP for just shy of five years. For the first four years, radar was enabled and I'd experience phantom braking from time to time - depending on the software version, as frequently as twice a week and as infrequently as once every few months. It was never terribly...

Is hope in sight for our USS-less cars?

Don't overthink it. The USS get covered with grime as well, and certainly wouldn't work when caked with snow. They aren't used for anything but parking and other low-speed, close-quarters maneuvers, anyways - nothing Autopilot related. So far I'm pleased with the alerts my wife's new Y has with...

Cannot Charge - Poor Grid Power Quality Possible

Someone in our local Tesla Facebook group had this issue a couple of weeks ago; Supercharging worked fine but Level 2 charging at home suddenly didn't. She got the same error you did, on a Model S about 10 years old. She asked in the group if she could come by someone's house to test her car...

First Highway FSD experience: Any chance that FSD is using a different navigation engine?

Well, I drove to work again this morning, without FSD enabled, and while the car initially suggested using regular old I-75, after I went a block or so in the direction of the toll lanes entrance at Roswell Road, it switched to suggest the toll lanes. So clearly it now understands that it can...

First Highway FSD experience: Any chance that FSD is using a different navigation engine?

For what it's worth, the car did NOT suggest using the toll lanes on the way home tonight. However, when I got to them, the automated sign indicated that traffic on them was actually slower than it was on regular I-75 - a very unusual occurrence - so I didn't take them. We'll see what the car...

First Highway FSD experience: Any chance that FSD is using a different navigation engine?

Thanks, all, for the interesting and constructive replies. I look forward to seeing what FSD tries to do tonight on my way home. There's a tricky bit near the start of my drive, where I have to move four lanes to the left over a relatively short distance - about a mile and a half - in order to...

First Highway FSD experience: Any chance that FSD is using a different navigation engine?

In metro Atlanta, we have reversible toll lanes alongside of selected stretches of interstate. I've used the ones near me, paralleling I-75 just outside the Perimeter (I-285) on the north side of town since they opened nearly five years ago. They run south into the city in the morning, and then...

Autopilot needs manual lane change without disengage

I've had EAP for five years. This is not how my car behaves. I have to signal once for every lane change I want to make. If I want to get over three lanes, I have to press the stalk again after each lane change. This is fine with me.

    Basic autopilot in heavy traffic

I'm in ATL as well. My experience is quite varied; 95% of the time, the car handles stop-and-go very adeptly and smoothly. (For what it's worth, the bulk of my stop-and-go driving is in the afternoon, heading north on the Connector between 166 and Midtown.) Occasionally it behaves as you...

    Yeah, I Bought A Digital License Plate.....sigh.....

Agree - and I do use the auto close/open feature. It's great, especially with MyQ. (With our particular garage door, it was always kind of finicky with Homelink, as sometimes it would fire too soon and not actually trigger the door, and if you adjusted the distance to be closer, then you'd be...

Poll - When do you believe park assist will be available again?

"No AP other than basic" is still AP. I have engaged it by accident once or twice when the car was already in Drive and I pushed the stalk down again.

    2023.6.9

Installed this last night on my wife's Y. It's raining here, so I haven't taken it out for a full-scale test, but did back it out of the garage and pull it back in. The car did a good job at detecting the large post in our basement garage that helps support the three floors above. That's the...

Is hope in sight for our USS-less cars?

Honestly, cars with ultrasonic sensors, like mine, would react to the situation in your garage in much the same way. It certainly wouldn't let you pull in as far as you say you need to without the STOP alert popping up.

    FSD 11.3.2 on the Highway

My car's navigation does indeed suggest using the left-hand exits from carpool/HOV lanes when I have HOV lanes selected. However, the system never takes into account that they are typically moving faster than the main part of the highway. It therefore often suggests using other highways that do...

    FSD 11.3.2 on the Highway

Maybe I'll try it the next time I go to the office, thanks. I know it still won't handle the toll lanes correctly as the GPS never suggests using them, but maybe it's finally figured out the HOV lanes. Last time I checked - maybe two years ago - it hadn't.
  41. E

    FSD 11.3.2 on the Highway

This is precisely what I want, for similar reasons. I want the new highway stack behavior - apparently smoother, nudging over for trucks, etc. - but do not want the car in charge of navigation and picking lanes. I've had NoA turned off for 4 years due to its inability to recognize the reversible...

Model 3 - LR AWD Waiting Room

We are in Marietta, less than 15 minutes from the Kennesaw service/delivery center, and were not offered home delivery, which, honestly, was fine with us, though I certainly can understand why some people would prefer having the option.

Return HomeLink and Go with MyQ?

Well, it seems I misspoke; there are two versions, one for all Model Ys and Model 3s prior to 2023, and another for the 2023 Model 3. I thought that the 2023 exclusion applied to both Y and 3. So I guess the part I ordered would indeed work on our car, but given our success with My Q, we won't...

Return HomeLink and Go with MyQ?

Thanks for replying. I only ordered it on Jan 13, and tried to start the return last Friday, so only three weeks had passed at that point. I'd been trying on the website but I'll check the app too. If no luck, maybe I'll run up to the service center and see if they can help me. Thanks again for...

Return HomeLink and Go with MyQ?

Did you end up returning the Homelink module? I would like to do so - we just bought a Y, and I ordered the Homelink transmitter for it before the car arrived. Then I noticed on the Tesla website that a different module is required for 2023 cars, and of course I had ordered the wrong one. I...

Think we'll ever get follow distance of "1" again?

I don't disagree, but was merely responding to the other poster, who seemed to be attributing the behavior to his car's lack of radar. Unfortunately, it can and does happen with radar-equipped cars as well. I've had my car for 4.5 years and only recently moved to Tesla Vision. I haven't noticed...

Yes, good call. The industrial grade ones should last quite a while. I was indeed referring to the ones intended for appliances, where you plug in once and forget it.
