FSD v9.0 in Australia is just a con isn't it?

almost 2.5 years now...... still no egg on face ... much less "FSD" 😗

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

On version 23.26.7 the wipers are still painful. Now with this version, sometimes the wipers go flat out when simply activating the wiper wash function (clean windscreen BTW). It seems software alone simply won't fix the ongoing wiper issues that have plagued Tesla's for years now. Also...

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

indeed, The few extra kms can make the difference on some road trips. I learnt one thing when I was in sales.... You give/sell people what they want, not what you think they need.

Model Y Tow Package available soon from Tesla Australia

Agree, plastic cover pry's out easily on the occasions you want to use the tow bar. I didn't like the look of the Tesla handle thingy so I didn't fit it to the cover when I installed the tow bar.

Does merlin prolift 230t work with Homelink? Or would I need to buy a receiver like this - https://tessories.com.au/product/homelink-receiver-kit/

I have the Merlin 230T , and you will need an updated additional receiver for homelink to work with the Y / 3. All of the required connections required on the merlin are external so its an easy fit.

    Model Y RWD sound system

Been an audiophile and worked in many recording studios with sound engineering all my life. When it comes to a quality source and faithful sound reproduction many people wouldn't know what to listen for and lossy mp3's sound just fine to them - and that's ok. If you never listened to the...

Yes, Tidal is integrated into the Y if you have a Tidal subscription.

    Model Y RWD sound system

I had an EQA with the Burmiester sound system and the Model Y is better, particularly if you stream Tidal. Spotify is lo-fi in comparison.

    Evie EV charging networks

Moe becomes more useful travelling back the other way to Melbourne. Gives you more options. Today I travelled back from Cooma, charged at Cann River & tested Orbost (didn't really need to but grabbed 16kw) and then topped up at Moe and home comfortably to the Peninsula. BTW, If you like...

Tesla 3 Windshield pits/stone chips? Is it softer glass than other cars?

Pearl White and got Tesla to organise it, which basically means car goes to Tesla repair depot and they get their local contractor in to replace glass. So any issues they have to deal with.

Tesla 3 Windshield pits/stone chips? Is it softer glass than other cars?

When I had the model 3 I felt the windscreens were very soft and seemed too easily chipped and cracked. I suspect the very low ride height contributed to this being a rock magnet as well. I had the windscreen replaced within the first 6 weeks due to chips and cracks. I am careful about not...

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

I think the problem is more to do with their software and hardware implementation and probably their relative inexperience as an auto manufacturer. I had an Merc EQA EV for 12 months with radar cruise and autosteer etc and no phantom braking issues at all like I had with the model 3 with radar...

    Supercharger - Cann River, Vic

It will be a welcome stop for a charge outside holiday times - In peak times just make sure you leave Melb early in the morning and some spots should be de-iced

    Supercharger - Cann River, Vic

I stop here every Easter and that car park and adjacent highway is often packed at that time of the year . There will be some people annoyed that EV's have 7+ spots taken over and now reserved for them. Hopefully it becomes more respectful as EV's and education become more prevalent.

Crazy stuff! You would think basic functionality should always be 100% stable with no surprises by now.

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

sometimes 3rd parties do find better solutions. I suspect that if Elon eventually hits the wall with the vision only approach he will abandon it as he did with radar and ultrasonics and jump onto the next idea. Unfortunately, he is just too impetuous as can be seen in various aspects of the...

    Supercharger - Cann River, Vic

So, does that mean Chargefox have only installed one station at Cann River and Tesla are installing 3 stations on the other 3 slabs in Ward st?

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

I'm not so sure the existing cameras have anywhere near good enough resolution and low light performance. One only needs to drive at night and the limited performance is clear. At night cyclists and pedestrians are regularly not detected by side and front cameras or the software (but easily...

TACC failure on Tesla Vision software

Uncertainly yes, but history and many broken promises has demonstrated the progress or lack thereof thus far. There can be surprises in technology but most of time it is actually quite predictable for the technically minded.
  26. S

TACC failure on Tesla Vision software

best not to call it "FSD" particularly if the infant may not become an adult for 20-30 years if ever, and certainly not with the hardware we currently have.
  27. S

TACC failure on Tesla Vision software

Plenty of traditional automakers have radar assisted cruise without the issues Tesla have. Seems incredible to think that they can rely on poor quality cameras alone to cope with the normal variety of weather conditions a driver encounters day to day. Been several years now and the basic...

    Superchargers in Australia

Disagree. Mornington is fine. Has heaps of parking will never be iced out, there's a cafe and other shops , supermarket etc. There's even a Super Cheap so you can romanticise on how things use to be before your EV. Something at the BP's on Peninsula link would be good too.

    NRMA fast charging network

lets just say hypothetically they were charging because they were on a journey too..... I suspect the annoyance would still be there because you were kept waiting. When NRMA start billing people that will discourage the more frivolous users, but we need to accept there will always times when...

Mike Cannon-Brookes lobbies for Australian Gigafactory

Not going to happen here with the margins that Telsa are getting in China. I'm picking up a Y soon that was only built on the 14/8. Only 5 weeks from build to delivery. I'm sure Robin has some sway and sometimes it's not what you know but who you know and sometimes decisions are made that...

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

Ah, brings back good memories...you made the computer then you had to make an ASCII current loop terminal to talk to it! I cut my teeth on 6800, 6802, 6809, 68000, 2650, Z80, 8086, 80286, 80386 to name a few, writing BIOS's in hex and in Microsoft Macro assembler.. 41 years ago 😂

LFP. Weekly Charging vs Daily Charging

degradation is not just about voltage. With LFP I would not get too stressed about charging regularly to higher SOC say 90% as the LFP chemistry trade off in reduced capacity compared to NCA, is on the plus side, less long term cell degradation and far more cycle life. The cars will wear out...

Model Y RWD around Australia trip by TOCWA members

    Powering up the Princes Highway

I hope it's not on Ward ST Cann River for people who need a charge in the school holidays. All that parking beside the playground is ICE packed throughout school holidays, especially Easter- witnessed over the past 25 years! better would be just around the corner on Monaro Hwy which has...

    Australian Model Y Waiting Room

Zero chance of that. It's all handled by 3rd party automotive logistics and generally done on the docks- Pretty much all automotive companies use these 3rd services to prep cars and very little is done by the dealer . Simply no way they will let Joe Blow customer near the docks. You just have...

    Australian Model Y Waiting Room

Yeh, still hard to understand why Tesla can't get this TACC right and it was often dodgy with my model 3. From memory, wasn't removing radar and going vision only meant to fix everything like phantom braking etc?. Don't understand why removing radar would be a good move at any time. The EQA...

Model Y / 3 comparison - same same but different?

Drove a Y SR+ on 19's today too. I would disagree and say that the differences are not minor at all (apart from the tech and style). IMHO the seating position in the Y is way more than "slightly" higher than the 3. To confirm this I got in / out of a 3 in the showroom and went straight to...

Why don't you just cancel the order and let the next in line have it - that would seem the honorable thing to do? else it probably looks to Tesla like you have been attempting to scalp.

Chargefox network bought out by motoring clubs

A couple of weeks ago I found the +35 times I used the 50kw Tritium charges going from Melbourne to Townsville and back were very reliable and just worked. After a while 50kw begins to feel a bit slow on 6,300kms long trip tho. Seemed on Chargefox wherever there where double 350kw charges...
