Apples vs Apples - Questions about buying a P85D

I bought a dec 2014 p85d directly from Tesla in October. I was specifically targeting a + suspension model (mostly just based on research and others opinions). After driving a few loaners over the last couple months, I can say there is a noticeable difference, but not sure if I would ever know...

Tesla infotainment system upgradeable from MCU1 to MCU2

Yup, my exact thoughts. $1000-$1500 and I would have done it but anything more and it’s wasn’t worth it to me. Agreed. First I’ve heard of it as well. If we start a go fund me to cover half the cost, I’ll be the guinea pig! Lol.

Tesla infotainment system upgradeable from MCU1 to MCU2

Sorry if this was already discussed, I’d didn’t read though all the posts yet. I was at the FREMONT SC this week for a air suspension issue. I received a 2018 loaner s75d and noticed the maps and WiFi worked way better than my 14 P85D. I asked if upgrading from 3G to LTE would make a big...

Jack recommendations - for use with Murphy’s law jack pads

Thanks fellas. I was thinking the same thing as my wheel guy has used both a floor jack with a small saddle that only sat on the rubber pad. They also have a lift with 4 points that have to line up, this is where I feel more confident using the Murphy’s law jack pad adapters to insure they line...

Jack recommendations - for use with Murphy’s law jack pads

So I just picked up some Murphy’s law jack pads. Initially as a precaution when I bring my car to get tire service, but now I’m thinking I should get a jack so I can swap out tire sets at home. Any “reasonably” priced jack recommendations for use with Murphy’s law jack pads? Thanks

    Torque wrench and socket recommendations

Thanks. This looks like a reasonably priced option, I like it. I don’t plan to change my own wheels, just wanted this stuff to re-torque after changes or check if they loosen. I don’t need a breaker bar, unless I plan to change then, right? Or should I loosen before tightening even when re...

    Self-healing paint protection?

I just had the fenland heal-lite self healing coating applied to my S. Literally just picked the car up yesterday. Looks great and so far so good. CA tint and front license plate fix-it tickets

Came across this video, new law in CA (edit: sorry not new, just looked and it was Jan 2018) If you have a skin condition and a Dr. note, you can tint your windows. Lol. As insignificant as it may seem, I would say this relaxes the laws a bit on tinting and is a sign, it won’t be enforced any...

Security film to prevent window breakage = anti theft?

I have 2 carseats in as well and was thinking the same thing! Sometimes I take 1 out if I need the space but I’m thinking just leave it as a break in deterrent now. I have a friend @energy7 who had multiple break ins who just got a 6 mil film on the small back windows, I may do it as well as...

    powder coating bay area

Wheel techniques in Santa Clara does good work. They can also polish out any curb rash or fix imperfections before they coat. I had my turbines done in hyper black, they also can match the OEM grey which was going to be my original choice till I saw the hyper black. Prices range between...

CA tint and front license plate fix-it tickets

Yes, regarding a temp plate and not just the paper in the windshield, but not sure if that will effect how cops treat no front plate. It’s a good point though.

CA tint and front license plate fix-it tickets

Regarding darker tint: Kids in the back seat squinting and staring into the sun. Regarding tint in general: heat reduction I actually do like the appearance as well (not limo black, but some color change) , but lower on the list of reasons why. For me personally.

CA tint and front license plate fix-it tickets

Question about Model S CPO warranty (maintenance)

I bought a 2014 P85D in October and couldn’t be happier with the purchase. Like most Tesla owners, I’m in and not going back. Although the “CPO / Used” sales process is bad as you may have read, if your patient and set your expectations knowing about the delays and lack of communication, you...

    Tesla P85D CPO for $51K

] IMO, now is a good a time as any to jump in. I would set a target and wait patiently for the right vehicle to fall to the right price. $50k for a loaded P85D is great value in my opinion and that won’t change. It seems most of them bottom out at $50k right now with a few dropping just...

    21's or 22's on my 2018 Model S 75D?

If you want arachnids, keep an eye on the TMC “parts for sale” section. Usually they will pop up between $2600-$3k brand new, wheels and tpms2. This would be a “safer” choice regarding durability as they are forged and lots of talk they are less prone to getting damaged or dented. They are also...

    21's or 22's on my 2018 Model S 75D?

I would vote for 21”s, but haven’t rode on 22”s so I couldn’t chime in on ride quality. I had 19” cyclones and moved to 21” arachnids. The ride was a little bit rougher but the overall appearance was well worth it. I’m in NorCal and the roads are pretty good and don’t need to deal w snow or...

I can help install rear facing seat in north California
