Supercharger - Augusta, ME - 281 Civic Center Dr

Before I retired (pre-EV) I drove from the Bangor area to points south and back once or twice a week. I almost always stopped at the Irving off of 112 toward Belgrade for a break and a snack (and gas if I needed it). Amost never used 109a or B--a zoo. And the 112 exit for the Augusta Civic...

    Supercharger - Bangor, ME

I used it on Sunday. Produced 240KW after arriving with 17% immediately after a high speed drive from Waterville. Pre-conditioning actived upon leaving Waterville. One other car charging at the same time, but it was unoccupied so don't know if they had similar results.

You should be able to pull in and charge without having to unhitch. I drive by this location once or twice daily and I have only seen one car charging since it became active. Early on there were also a couple of contractor vehicles, but yesterday they were gone. The stores are not yet...

Progress! Apparently still not energized, but looks like everything is installed. That's my twelve year old winter "beater" in front of the pedestal , so I couldn't plug in to confirm.

Paving and striping are complete. Note that the bollards are offset, which could be a problem for those of us who are used to centering the bollard as we back up to charge. Also note that one of the spots is handicap accessable only. Next to it, one of the chargers is located behind the no...

    Atlantic Canada Superchargers

You're right. If making this location accessable to non-Teslas is the reason for the orientation change, it's a kludge. Having said that, note that these units are almost certainly V3 equipped with the thin(er), more flexible conductor rather than the conductor used on V2, which should make...

I took a look. Just a guess on my part, but this orientation should allow greater access for EVs with chargeports located in front. Still not an optimum solution.

    Supercharger - Bangor, ME

The initial post indicated that this location would possibly host V4 units. Does anyone have further insight/knowldege of what is actually installed, or do we have to wait until the units are unwrapped?

This is so very frustrating. We returned last week from a visit to family living in Baddeck and Sydney. Charging, both destination and enroute, is almost as challenging now as it was four years ago when we first attempted it. A few minutes from our home in Maine, Brewer has hosted a Tesla...

Tesla mud-flaps (long version) really scrape a lot! Is this a problem?

We installed them several years ago when they first became available. No issues, and my rocker panels are still in pretty good shape, so they seem to be doing the job. Yep, they scrape--a lot. But we hardly notice it anymore.

I need advice on dealing with an accident in Canada.

I would like to echo what has already been recommended--let the insurance companies deal with the entire matter. You are paying premiums and this is a service provided under your policy. Further, understand that the initial estimate provided by the repair center is just that, an estimate...

    Atlantic Canada Superchargers

This is so sad. We have family throughout Nova Scotia whom we visit two or three times a year. Due to the lack of reliable access to fast charging beyond the Halifax metro area, we've put off visits to Sydney and Ingonish since Covid restrictions were lifted. We did make the trip in 2019...

IInteresting. No mention of non-Tesla units. I wonder if these will also be CCS capable. And why Bangor with the Brewer Supercharger only a few minutes away? When we drive by Brewer on our way to Walmart, there MAY see one or two cars charging. For folks headed to Bar Harbor, the Ellsworth...

Elon: Working on Tesla NA Service. Goal of having 2/3 of cars have same day service w/ no wait.

I've had four visits by maintenance in almost four years--one tow and three mobile visits. All have been excellent. (The mobile tech for our area is exceptional). However, my car was unavailable for around three weeks in each case, either waiting for an appointment or for parts. Now I have an...

    Panel Gaps, Burbank service, nightmare

Very sad to hear these issues are ongoing. My July 2018 build Model3 LR RWD was delivered with many of the issues cited in this post as well as others. I, too, ran into the same push back noted above, but rationalized it thinking the shortcomings I experienced would be resolved over time. And...

I would never purchase a tesla again!

I've used a simple approach for years. I ask myself if the on-going cost of repairs is starting to approach the monthly cost of a car payment. It almost never does, so I pay for repairs out of warranty and only buy a new car because I want the latest safety features or the car can no longer...

Snowy Driving Resulting In Lots Of Water In Garage

For me it is not just melting snow, but the sand, dirt and salt (put down by hard working road crews to keep Mainers from killing themselves and each other) that arrive with it. We sweep as much out as we can, but by spring, my garage is so filthy it takes a full day to clean it properly. I...

A series of unfortunate events led to a negative playing experience buying a Tesla

BitJam--It's been four months since your July entries. How did everything work out? I, too, had a substantial number of issues, both before and immediately after delivery in 2018. Since then, owing and driving our Model 3 has been a breeze. Mobile Service has been responsive on two visits...

Discussion: Hertz orders 100,000 Model 3's

We are in our 70s and have made a number of 1,000+ mile trips over the last three years to visit family without issue in our 2018 Model 3. My thirty-eight year old son-in-law test drove a Y, thought the ride was too rough and bought a Genesis GV80. Our life experience has prepared us for EV...

Why not have US Military build solar and wind, go carbon neutral?

The military has been looking at renewables for some time to help solve daunting logistical challenges. Today's military consumes enormous volumes of petroleum based fuels. Getting fuel to ships at sea, to ground forces deployed overseas at remote areas and to aircraft operating from austere...

3mm tyre depth at 18K miles - suggestions?

Mine lasted 20K on a 2018 LR RWD. I rotated the originals every 5K. Replaced OEMs with Michelin CrossClimates. The CrossClimates measured 10/32 when new. After 10K on the new tires, both front and rear measure 9/32. Very happy with this result.

    When to retire?

Only if the spouse was born in 1953 or earlier. My spouse was born that year and she plans to use this option. Her sister, born a year later, is ineligible. Years ago when I started planning my approach to Social Security, individuals could opt to begin taking benefits at age 62 and if they...

    When to retire?

And don't forget that Medicare doesn't kick in until age 65. Many retirees in their late 50s and early 60s with pre-existing conditions often find themselves paying five figure annual premiums for decent medical insurance.

Brand New M3.... Towed away today

I had a very similar experience to yours shortly after delivery in 2018. I chalked it up to "new car roll out" issues. Sadly, after three years, it sounds like issues remain. On a positive note, once our car was returned, it has been trouble free (as we quickly approach the end of the four...

I looked into a similar offering here in Maine (Community Solar Farms in Maine | ReVision Energy). Note the many advantages outlined in the link. Also note that it is an asset that can be sold in the future--something you will have to do if you move out of your service area in the future...

Good point. Nursing home costs in this area average $130K per year per individual. Last week, three elder care facilities in our small state closed--lack of staff and/or unsustainable operating costs. Not a bright future.

    Anyone care to explain CHAdeMO

I see that you are in New York. If you decide to venture a few hours north, especially to rural areas of Quebec and Atlantic Canada, you will have an opportunity to use your adapter--a lot! After almost three years I have used my adapter within the US only twice, but when visiting family and...

Same here. Three year old RWD Model 3. Rotated OEMs every 5,000 miles. OEM MXM 18" Michelins were shot at 20K. Replaced with Michelin CrossClimate+. With less than 1/32 difference between front and back after 11K, I plan to wait until differential exceeds 2/32 to rotate. BTW, the...

    Begging At Charging Stations?

    Must haves for New England?

If you can afford to do so, buy a winter car (a "beater") to drive in the winter months. It sports Michelin X ice tires, and even though it is FWD, I feel confident driving it...

    Michelin CrossClimate+

I have been running the CrossClimate+ since last October. I'm very happy with them most of the time, though they are not optimum in very heavy snow--not an issue where you live. Unfortunately, they are no longer manufactured, but may still be available. If you do decide to go with the 2, let...

HELP ASAP!! [back at home, issue resolved]

Mine is a July 2018 build LR RWD. As soon as the border opens up, we're headed North for a long overdue stay with family who live a LONG way from the nearest SC. I will probably replace the battery preemptively or simply bring the new battery along and install it if needed. Cheap insurance.
