Big price drop - LR down $10k, Plaid down $21k

Confused. My 22 (June but based on early 21 pricing) did not come with EAP as EAP did not (re)exist until like mid to late 22. Only option you had until like fall of this year was FSD and no way in hell would I be dumb enough not to pay for that. This is a US statement as I understand other...

Ford Lightning price increase announcement: 6k-8.5k

How many “real truck guys” are there tho? Pretty sure most truck people use it to got to the mall and Starbucks and maybe once every 5 years go to Home Depot and get something that might require 1/3 of the bed. Very few people really do Truck Stuff with trucks. Been that way for several decades

Model S Plaid leaves me stranded; almost 30 days in service - No lemon law. What now?

I never understood this argument as cars are not investments

Model S Plaid leaves me stranded; almost 30 days in service - No lemon law. What now?

Bro. Where have you been?? Used cars have been just as (and some cases more) expensive as new due to supply constraints for like over a year. Are you in the US? Otherwise your statement is ….odd.

2024 Chevy Blazer EV: Up to 320 mile range, MSRP between $45-$66k, plus a “Police Pursuit” model

Why would you prefer a car to be made in Canada vs. Mexico? I am assuming you are not Canadian, of course but then the question would be why the US then. For me I prefer a car made in the US otherwise what’s the difference?

2024 Chevy Blazer EV: Up to 320 mile range, MSRP between $45-$66k, plus a “Police Pursuit” model

Pretty sure the Model Y doesn’t have longer range…EPA “range” doesn’t mean much. In real world driving a couple of cars on that list match or beat the Y’s range thus I wouldn’t tout that aspect much in these (senseless IMO) comparisons.

Petition for Tesla to replace CCS as standard in US

Bru. In the US/NA market most (virtually all) EVs that have been released and will be released in the near future have CCS. End of story. It simply makes zero sense to arbitrarily make one vendors proprietary connector the standard. Even more so when ALL other OEMs vehicles in the region use...

Petition for Tesla to replace CCS as standard in US

This is dumb. Why have Tesla nozzle as the standard when CCS is already the standard for every other OEM? This petition make no sense to me

5000 km road trip - Vancouver (BC) to San Diego round trip

Hard disagree on the early adopter phase comment. we are still before the “chasm” as it pertains to charging networks. I live in Michigan and driving to West Tennessee/northern Mississippi (~800mi) while doable still requires me to stop at times I wouldn’t normally do so with an ICE - thus...

    FSD V GM CRUISE

Ok? I guess ?? Just so long as people can distinguish fact (SAE Level definitions) vs random marketing (utterly useless non definitions that seem to shift). I guess I only understand levels in context of what they are (ie what the SAE says) and not what OEMs “say”
  12. B

    FSD V GM CRUISE

Not sure I follow. L3 or L4 doesn’t necessarily speak to hwy or city street scenarios rather differing responsibility levels for driver and OEM. Am I miss understanding your point?
  13. B

    FSD V GM CRUISE

Huh? Bro so you’re saying FSD is L5? WTF?!? FSD appears to only be striving for L3 ok cool. By the way, I have ocean beach front property for sell in Nevada for sell - pending massive earthquake that will split Cali from mainland.

    Wiki Model S Delivery Update

Either way I am ejecting myself from this thread as I finally picked up my MSM S LR today! Loving it so far! Had a 477 VIN but no tilt screen (despite the advisor assuring me it was in my April 15 build) but everything else is super dope and a big upgrade (initial quality) vs. my M3P which was...

    Wiki Model S Delivery Update

If you went through Alliant this is normal. Apparently the interest rate for Tesla’s are .2% hire. I had the same happen to me (and everyone else that I have known go through them) where I get one rate and not 10 min later get a phone call from them saying,”oops, we didn’t realize this was for a...

Rivian price increased massively - $15,500. Cancelled, I'm sure I'm not the only one.

? Not following your logic. By your own understanding Tesla did the exact same thing (for presumably same reason) so how is this different again?

What’s the SEC violation here? Raising prices? If that’s the case name me publicly traded company that’s hasent raised prices ridiculously last several months? also I don’t see the SEC picking on Tesla. You had the CEO of a publicly traded company making up stuff to manipulate the stock price...

I see you haven’t tried to buy a car recently (new or used). Wife was looking to trade in Jeep for a new bronco….until we saw the dealer markup. $55k Bad Land all of a sudden dealer wants $70 to guarantee the bronco (with delivery “sometime” this year, like wtf?!?). Either way inflation is real...

How has having an EV change you?

You do know that people buy sports cars for more reasons than 0-60. In fact I would say that wouldn’t be the most notable reason for the typical sports car buyer - ie Porche drivers don’t buy Porche based on speed- it’s the drive. However I suspect people unfamiliar with sports cars may not get...

Mustang Mach-E Gets Great Reviews = Model 3 Challenger

Not a fan of CUVs thus not really into MachE, Model Y, or any of that boring form factor. BUT, I have to question your logic on road-trip charging. Who charges post 80% on a road trip? I mean I agree it sucks that Ford throttle charging past 80% but A) most EVs do that to varying degrees (fords...

Is ford lightening a winner for ford?

Not sure if you are tracking. So let me make this easy for you. A) I agree, Tesla’s are more efficient, generally - Lucid and Mercedes may disagree. Thus yes a Tesla with a given battery size should get more “EPA” range vs a similar car with a similar battery size. BUT B) above is irrelevant...
  33. B

Is ford lightening a winner for ford?

Lol what??? The reason people rarely (never?) get the stated Tesla’s range has to do with what cycles Tesla quotes from the standard EPA tests. While Teslas are generally the most efficient EVs, they do not get the best range vs contemporary EVs in real world conditions. Long story short they...
  34. B

Is ford lightening a winner for ford?

To be fair most other current EVs vendors get their listed range (or actually noticeably higher in the case of Porche). Tesla seems to be the only current EV vendor with “optimistic” range statements. Note I also have a (2018) M3P and I never get close to the stated 310mi when I bought it. Yet...

  36. B

Model S Plaid vs Porsche Taycan Turbo S vs my Model 3 Performance (after having driven all three).

I don’t think Porsche is all that focused on acceleration as much as making sure the Taycan checks all the boxes for sports car driving experience. I have not driven the Plaid S but I have driven Taycan 4S and I can say the driving experience (cornering, braking, and feel) are quite a bit better...

Is ford lightening a winner for ford?

Bingo! My point exactly. Hoping for/waiting for OEMs to jump into the charging pool is not supportable when you talk scale . Oh you can muddle through when you are new and have to build initial infra to support adoption (ie Tesla) but once you cross the chasm that one off st won’t work (for all...
  38. B

Is ford lightening a winner for ford?

If you think that OEM owned charging is a good, scalable path forward we’ll good for you. As for me this is literally the dumbest idea imaginable AT SCALE and will very likely lead to splintered charging standards and thus slowed EV adoption long term. But whatevs..
  39. B

Is ford lightening a winner for ford?

Different scenario. And are you suggesting we should have OEMs be responsible for charging networks?? Are you serious? Why not have multiple standards while we are at it. No, anything other than 3rd party (maybe govt?) owned charging network would run into serious scale challenges when EVs are a...

So, you still want the Rivian R1T, R1S?

I’m confused. Who compared Tesla with Rivian? Not sure I see where anyone stated this or (assuming English is your native language) even implied this. Did you mean to quote my post?
  43. B

So, you still want the Rivian R1T, R1S?

Probably so. Like a lot of these EV startups in think the valuations are out of whack personally. Market correction (including Tesla) may be coming by Q1 2022 would be my uneducated guess.
  44. B

So, you still want the Rivian R1T, R1S?

Rivian will not collaborate with Ford on EVs
  45. B

So, you still want the Rivian R1T, R1S?

Really? The stock dropped because the pre final version of the delivery vehicle allegedly has 40% loss when environmental (ac/heat) is on??? Funny. I thought it had more to do with the Ford announcement. Stupid me. Any other stock analysis you wanna give. Lol!

What is the closest fuel car in size to the Teslas?

Exactly. A Charger Hellcat is expensive (more than many Mercedes for example) but it not classified as a luxury car by anyone. Just becouse it cost more money (except for speeding tickets of course) or will save you time traveling from point to point (really fast car) no one will call it a...
  48. B

What is the closest fuel car in size to the Teslas?

Tesla isn’t really luxury by traditional measures. Quality of build, materials, creature comforts, and quietness of cabin are all key hallmarks of luxury that Tesla doesn’t particular excel in )especially the first and last points). Teslas just cost the same as luxury cars. You are paying for...

    Apple car

Really? You realize the auto market is HUGE. And some countries and regions (cough China and Europe) are not exactly laissez faire so there will always be fragmentation in auto - always. And again Apple can literally buy their way in…with cash. Let that sink in - as in they could buy ford or...

    Apple car

How can Apple (or any company) be too late to compete? The auto automotive space is NOT analogous to a network model where speed to entry conveys an advantage.
