    USB Device Malfunction

It's working again using a USB stick. Format as ExFat; containing "TeslaCam" folder. Wonder if the latest version (inadvertently) blocks hubs and card readers...?

Roadtrips Chicago to California to Chicago (data galore)

And finally our trip home. Hit a nerve-racking, range-anxiety-induced leg when I decided to skip a Supercharger 5-minutes out of the way, arriving with 14.54 miles of range, 5% battery. The good news is that we hit near 250 Wh/Mile efficiency! 😬 For the return trip I threw out route planners...

Roadtrips Chicago to California to Chicago (data galore)

With the adults fully vaccinated, we cautiously made our way to the Bay Area to spend a bit of summer with family. California being a wide state that reaches out to the Pacific, it was a longer trip: but similar in distance to the southern route we had taken in the winter. We tried to be more...

Roadtrips Chicago to California to Chicago (data galore)

Return trip was uneventful. We stopped at The Big Texan again because the food is just that good (or we were just really hungry again...), spending 54m to eat. Average arrive battery is skewed because I included this stop; taking that anomaly out we get an average of 24%. We stopped for...

Roadtrips Chicago to California to Chicago (data galore)

As cases reduced we decided to spend the holidays in California in December, 2020; again getting COVID tests numerous times (before, during, after). Knowing the trip would take appx. 40 hours, we decided to leave at night; maximizing sleep time for kids/ minimizing time awake. We drove without...

Roadtrips Chicago to California to Chicago (data galore)

For our return trip in September, 2020, we booked a hotel the first night but then would play the second night by ear, eventually deciding to drive through the night. Significantly improved arrival battery, averaging 26%. Tried driving longer legs, charging past 85% several times, and reducing...

Roadtrips Chicago to California to Chicago (data galore)

Due to COVID, we chose to drive to California to care for FIL for medical reasons. Starting with our first half-country road trip: July, 2020. From this first time journey we took away a few lessons; mainly splash-and-go and timing the departure for the kids. We also took it slowly, stopping for...

Is anyone using a screen protector on the display?

Abstract Ocean clear for over 2.5 years. Looks great even after accidently bumping/scraping a MacBook Pro a few times into the screen while working from the car. There's a big bubble in the upper-right corner I've been unable to remedy, but it's off to the side enough that I never notice. One...

Suspected 12v battery dead.. Currently at service center. Happened right after getting a new coilovers set installed... also have a stealth hitch....

"Front left passenger restraint" is likely unrelated. There's a buried service bulletin affecting Model 3s; it should be addressed under warranty. I say "buried" because I intermittent received the error; but I didn't receive an email to owners that were affected, and no service bulletin exists...

FYI. Tesla map indicates Reduced Service, but I see no degradation.

Chicago - North Broadway Charger: How do I get in?

Sorry for the late reply: these are city chargers located on the second level of Mariano's. Ascend the ramp, follow the parking lot to the left, you'll see the stalls. This is a free parking lot, no gate.

    High mileage check-in

December, 2018 dual motor, 18" aero with 31k miles; 286/310 on 100% charge. It's been driven during Midwest winters which I'm assuming is a factor for degradation. For over a year I was mostly Supercharging to 90%. Then it was a combo of Supercharger and Level 2 at work. Now it's home charging...

    Seat belt recall

Annual license plate renewal fees - how much in your state?

Why do so many Tesla owners wrap their cars?

I seriously considered PPF for protection when having tint installed. But after 2 years of owning, the small chips are part of the weathering that lets my vehicle tell it's unique story. If I were planning to sell or trade-in, I'd definitely get the front wrapped at least. But I'm planning to...

    Plugged in Everyday?

Anecdotally, factors beyond charging affect battery life. For a year I was mostly Super Charging to 80%, lost some battery life. Then for the past year I've been mostly charging at home to 90%, lost some battery life. I think the cold, Chicago weather is to blame.

    Delivery Success Stories

At the end of 2018, I wanted to take advantage of the tax break. So, I chose a car from inventory rather than using my reservation. I tried to get horny today but couldn’t!

Yup! It's hard to get it going pushing the left side. Took it in for service and they fixed. A few months later, it's kinda back; it'll still go off if I push hard enough. I live in a two-story garage with a blind corner between floors, so I get horny every time I drive; twice, technically.

Error during 2 windy stretches on a long trip

Only time I've received that exact message is when exceeding the 90 MPH speed limit with NoA on. In adverse conditions, like fog, I've seen it say feature unavailable because such and such camera is obstructed or something. In heavy rain I vaguely recall it saying adverse conditions.

Totalled Model 3 [why didnt dashcam capture recording]

TL;DR tap the camera button immediately to save footage. In my experience, TeslaCam buffers a minute of video somewhere before it writes that data to the USB. You'll have video before the accident, but if TeslaCam stops recording in that buffer minute, it's lost. A while ago I experimented...

Does anyone feel like NoA has regressed since it first came out 2 years ago?

I'd say it's all subjective unless there's something we can use to objectively measure. In the past two years of using NoA, I haven't noticed a regression. Depending on the type of exit, it'll sometimes slow down appropriately. But if I'm flying at 65 or over, I'm taking over for the off ramp...

Navigate on Autopilot - Odd Behavior

Would not have done it if not for the pandemic, but now that we have may be doing it more often. In summer we took the scenic route through Colorado. About $130 SC one way. Stopped for two nights on the way; one, returning. In winter we took southern route to avoid possible road closures. With...

Navigate on Autopilot - Odd Behavior

I noticed the same behavior on long distance trips (Chicago to Los Angeles, and back). Seemingly similar environment, settings, and circumstances, but NOA wouldn't pass the slower vehicle. Felt like a game of roulette when approaching a truck... Would it pass or not? Most times it would. I...

    What is your plan B?

... Now you have me feeling foolish for not having a Plan B. Did Chicago-Los Angeles and back using rudimentary calculations, and had one butt-clenching leg when we dared to use Tesla estimation; reduced speed to be safe and arrived with 7% on a 200 mile leg. ...found ABRP after the...

    Supercharger - Amarillo, Texas

To PPF or not to PPF?

I vote PPF. I let it ride on Model 3 in Illinois... I don't know that PPF would have stopped all the small dings, but I imagine PPF would have saved my paint from most of these rock/gravel pits on the front bumper and hood near logo. Then again, we're in it for the long run, hoping to get at...

Looking for some advice [new vs used - is fsd worth it]

Ben Sullins has a great, but long (25 minute) video to help with economics; trying to make this as objective as possible. Hope this helps with a more informed decision. Personally (very subjective), I would have bought FSD at the onset because 1) I'm lucky enough financially to afford, and...

Did anyone come from bigger size sedan to Tesla Model 3?

We went from Infiniti G35 sedan. The kids' car seats fit fine, even when we had a rear facing. I'm only 5'6" though. The car feels more nimble in the city, despite having about the same turn radius. As ChadS mentioned, front-to-back is only a few inches shorter than Model S. But the car is...

    L.A. GUY NEEDS HELP/ADVICE WITH M3 DELIVERY

Welcome to the family! Only my opinion, so completely useless... 1. All the parts that aren't bolted on are there. Charger, floor/trunk/frunk mats, phone cables (dunno if you're getting one with wireless charging), 2. It's all up to you. My car has paint imperfections that are quite...

Are your experiencing problems with your wife's phone, too? I've enabled pin-to-drive for several months (after hearing of a kid engaging drive on a Model X and pinning mum to the wall). When I have similar problems to yours I try a number of things: restart phone; log out, log in to Tesla...

what do you guys spray or apply on the door handle and windows to prevent freeze ice built up?

Someone somewhere recommends this rubber protectant on rubber door seals. Not sure if it'll be useful for door handles as it requires direct application, not like WD-40 with a straw. https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B00T44D1R2/ref

I'd hope it's included as safety feature but I don't know. Unverified, but many claim AP swerving to avoid collision.
