Hot air from vents on A/C settings

It’s definitely NOT a feature. Mine has done this twice now. Late 2018 Model 3. 92 degrees outside. A/C on at 72. Suddenly blows full heat, max fan. A/C keeps running. Car almost undrivable. Have to open all windows immediately, and it’s still ridiculously hot. Just returned from the...

Iphone issues [issues with phone as key]

Same here, but for my phone. Really, really annoying. I have to always carry my fob, just in case the phone doesn’t work. The mobile tech can fix it, then it just happens again several days later.

Permissive Use - Does Tesla Allow It?

    1) Yes. 2) No. You’re insuring a car, not a person.

Tesla Insurance Agent told me to cancel my policy?!?

Completely ageee. The whole thing is nonsense. I wouldn’t insure my 3 with them under any circumstance.

Tesla Insurance Agent told me to cancel my policy?!?

I would NEVER tolerate garbage like that from an insurance provider. NO ONE tells me how to drive. Well, except for my wife, but that’s a different discussion! Get different insurance. Immediately. Jesus, it’s like 1984. Big Brother is watching.

Will this Model 3 be totaled by insurance?

Doubtful. Looks like maybe $15,000 or so to repair. Totaling it might cost $50,000. Not a difficult choice.

Will this Model 3 be totaled by insurance?

The deployment of an airbag is not the deciding factor for whether or not a car is totaled. Never.
  9. A

Will this Model 3 be totaled by insurance?

Inflation would make them LESS likely to total it. The car is worth more than it was just a year ago, too. Stock market has nothing to do with it. It’s simply a matter of which option is cheaper for them: repair, or total it. Since it’s now worth more, they are more likely to repair it. It’s...

    Insurance rates for M3

I’m paying $1100 per year. 65, spotlessly clean record, multi-car, bundled with home. That was initially about $700 when the car was new (2018). It’s gone way up for no good reason. Teslas are involved in crashes far less often than other brands.

I’ll take your spot. Are they numbered, or just chronological?

How long to get the $50k deposit back?

It’s the inner voice of someone with autism. It explains many of his behaviors. Doesn’t excuse them, but it explains them.

How long to get the $50k deposit back?

I’m not sure the Cybertruck will make it to Production. Kind of hope it never does. I agree, though. It’ll be very low-volume, but they have to put the assembly line somewhere. Texas?

So has this been driven in salt? I used to live in Illinois. The amount of salt used there is crazy.

    Battery Swapping Revisited

Never going to happen (here, anyways) You can’t overcome the “getting someone else’s tired or perhaps damaged battery” issue. Tesla looked at it, found it was not viable if you own the car. I don’t know any BEV owner, of any brand, that would accept it.

Who can catch Tesla ? They seem to be experiencing exponential growth…..

When you make claims like that, everything you say becomes tainted. Utter nonsense. Pro tip: You might want to ratchet it down about three or four notches. P.S. perhaps less caffeine might help?

Who can catch Tesla ? They seem to be experiencing exponential growth…..

Not so sure about that. Where do you think their funding comes from ? Bezos. Via Amazon. Amazon has an order for 100,000 delivery vans from Rivian. As long as Bezos wants Rivian to stay in business, they will. They already have Billions in cash on hand.

They did lead last year! Joey said so! They sold 26 EVs! One was even a Hummer!

    M3P VS BMW I4 M50

I own both the best M-car ever made, and a Model 3P. Trashing Tesla is not a good look for a CCA member. Please don’t do It again. You’re playing to the Stereotype of a BMW owner. I am a longtime CCA member. Been driving BMWs without interruption for 40 years.

Bullshit. Sheetmetal scraping on the ground? Not even possible, friend. Makes all of your comments suspect.

    e39 M5, standing up, sir!
  25. A

    M3P VS BMW I4 M50

If has an M, followed by one digit, it’s real. The Motorsport Division only designs the real M-Series cars. And they are only cars. You are correct about the e90/92. The last of the analog ones. 414 hp V-8. The only V-8 ever put in an M3. The rest are marketing BS.

Well yeah, those are three of the four best-ever 3-Series generations! (Add in the e30).

More speed? The M3P does 162 mph. Or did I misunderstand your comment?

    M3P VS BMW I4 M50

I don’t think Tesla sold any vehicles (other than maybe the Roadster?) in 2010. What are you talking about? The Roadster was just a proof-of-concept vehicle. They made about 2800 of them.

    M3P VS BMW I4 M50

Why didn’t Mobile Service come to you? Should have been a no-brainer. Insist on Mobile Service next time. It’s fabulous. I haven’t even been to my Service Center at all. In three years. It’s about 70 miles away, in Denver, and was no factor whatsoever in deciding to buy the car.

Love it! So true. And I own an M5. Which has zero M-badges.

    Windshield Wiper Fluid and Recommendation

We have Canada Geese here, but none of them is insect-sized. Sounds a bit scary.
  35. A

    Windshield Wiper Fluid and Recommendation

A 32-F limit is absolutely worthless. In about 75% of the US. That’s crazy. Buy the blue stuff. $2-3 per gallon. This is one of the silliest discussions I’ve seen here. And there are plenty of silly ones!
  36. A

    Windshield Wiper Fluid and Recommendation

I buy fluid made entirely from whale tears. It’s not cheap, but it’s environmentally friendly. Or you can use bat’s blood, especially if you have a red car. Mine is red.

    Car likely totaled

Our property taxes are very low in Colorado. And when you turn 65, they automatically reduce them 20% Texas has had outrageous property taxes for years and years. No one ever seems to mention that when they tell you “it’s so cheap to live in Texas.”
  39. A

    Car likely totaled

Everyone thinks it’s cheap to live in Texas. Until they have to pay $25,000 in property taxes. There’s no such thing as a free lunch. Services cost money. That money comes from taxes. And the services are poor in Texas. We pay $4000 on our now-very-expensive home. We are in a low-tax State...

2017-2020 Model 3 recalled for trunk/rear camera issue

I don’t think the sealant (from a caulk gun, wish I had shot a video of it) will stop the squeaking. It’s to prevent it. Squeaking becomes play. The arms need to be replaced.
  41. A

2017-2020 Model 3 recalled for trunk/rear camera issue

I think you probably mean front control arms? That’s a known issue. They will replace them under warranty. There’s also an FSB about it. They will do a fix under warranty, if there’s no issues with the arms at that point. Mine’s had the fix, and my friend’s (much higher mileage) just had his...

Looking for feedback [on racing stripes on vehicle]

Remove it. Stat. Paint slowly fades. If you remove it in a few years, you’ll see a ghost of everywhere the stripes were. Way worse than living with a paint chip, for goodness’ sake.

    Bad delivery experience

Waste of money, I’m afraid. It’s absolutely not necessary. I’ve never done it. Owned about 36 cars/trucks. It’s a marketing thing. You’re doing the entire car??? That’s crazy, man. Also, wraps can discolor, and potentially pull paint off. Washing the car will not. And no one uses a...

    Bad delivery experience

I’m also in Fort. Old Town. Can’t tell for sure without more photos, but that back glass actually looks defective (out of spec, should have been a reject). With all of the issues on that vehicle, I would also have refused it. I’m a very picky SOB when it comes to cars. Especially new ones...
