    Model S Reversing Camera failing

S75D late 2018 with MCU2. Tesla just contacted me and they said they think it's the camera, not the wiring loom, but are referring it to another team that I presume is more expert on these matters.

    Model S Reversing Camera failing

FWIW, I have reported this in the app to Tesla. They say that my car was not subject to a recall on this issue.

    Model S Reversing Camera failing

Ha! Well, in the sense of infinite monkeys, I suppose yes. I'm now wondering if this might be relates to a recall issue - opening and closing the trunk can cause damage to the wiring harness. https://www.autoblog.com/2021/12/30/tesla-rearview-camera-recall

    Model S Reversing Camera failing

The car is out of warranty, and my confidence in correct diagnosis by Tesla staff is very low (I know someone with MCU1 who was told they'd have to replace their rear view camera when in fact an eMMC replacement fixed it). Silly question - I presume they won't look at it for free? And there's...

    Model S Reversing Camera failing

So my reversing camera seems to have been on the way out for a few weeks now. It was intermittent, but the proportion of time that it's working seems to be gradually getting smaller. Originally there was green and purple flickering (see ), but now it's mostly blank. I'm worried that it's not a...

HOW TO: Replace Headlights in Refresh (2016+) Model S

Just in case people here are unaware (and assuming it's a global decision) Tesla have recently halved the cost of replacement headlamps. I wonder if Revision Gs on ebay have been reduced in accordance with this - I suspect not!

Late 2016 / Early 2017 S Owners: How Are Your Daytime Running Lights Holding Up?

I raised this with a mobile engineer a couple of weeks ago and he said that they'd just halved the price of new units (to about £600 each, fitted) in recognition of the fact that they were failing so often. So I'm half as stressed about it now as I was!

Late 2016 / Early 2017 S Owners: How Are Your Daytime Running Lights Holding Up?

I'm on revision E and have had them for about 15 months. Warranty/lease expires in about 8 months time. I'm wondering about keeping the car, and DRL failure is my #1 concern. One question I have for the panel is do we know what causes the failure? There's a lot of talk about heat and lack of...

Late 2016 / Early 2017 S Owners: How Are Your Daytime Running Lights Holding Up?

This is a long thread! I was just wondering if any in the land of the free (the USA, that is!) have tried a class action against Tesla for a design fault on these?

    Phantom braking (TACC/AP) [Not AEB]

Having had the upgrade to 2020.48.10 and done a couple of drives to London and back, it seems that phantom braking is pretty good in this release. I think I will never upgrade again. It still drives uncomfortably close to the left hand side of the lane (which it didn't back in 2018!) but all in...

2021 UK Model 3 Revised Headlights

This is the thing about electric cars, it isn't really a £50k car. It's a £10k charging network and a £15k battery pack with a £25k car!

    2019/20 Orders and Deliveries [closed]

Ordered 22nd October 3LR red with black interior and 18” wheels. Just had an email from Tesla today. Wondering which boat this is likely to be. Don't have the VIN yet. ---- Hi Alex, Thank for contacting us regarding your order update. Having checked up on your car, it is due to depart San...

Snap! Ordered 22nd Oct, Red 3LR with same wheels and interior. Just got the email saying it's due to depart San Francisco and will be in the UK 2nd week of December.

    Phantom braking (TACC/AP) [Not AEB]

The wipers are dangerous on the M3 because there's no stalk control like there is on the S. Hasn't there already been a case in Germany that went against the driver? Use of the camera is either a cost-saving move or a vanity issue. Not sure which. TACC is getting better and worse and better...

Ripped Undercarriage Composite from the rain?

This is an interesting story - so they replaced Type A with Type B, but there's no discernable difference (other than that they won't replace Type B under warranty)? This talk of an injection-moulded smooth plastic replacement seems to have been just talk? I wonder if the new 2021 refresh will...

    Phantom braking (TACC/AP) [Not AEB]

I've heard that AEB is disabled in FSD beta - that's probably what's fixed most of it.

Another SC cockup - any suggestions for painless remedy?

The first time I took my car to Park Royal SC, the return was delayed by someone there driving another customer's car into mine and causing damage to a couple of panels. This was repaired, but I was without my car for an additional week. Just last week, the heater element blew, so I took it in...

    Model S85D slow at supercharger

OK, if not "throw them away" then be forced to sell them (since they're no longer fit for purpose) - probably at a fraction of what might have seemed a reasonable price a year ago.

    Model S85D slow at supercharger

Newer cars won't be so bad. I wouldn't buy a Tesla, though. I would lease or PCP it (for a max of 4 years, less if I do high mileage). To be fair, it's not just Tesla, I'll never buy a new car outright again - all motor manufacturers are guilty of sharp practice. Tesla in the old days was...

    Less regen on 2019.40.2?

This is what I suspected. Not sure if it was here or somewhere else, but Elon's being a reverse Grinch here. Far from "stealing Christmas", he's ensuring that it's Christmas every day. Roy Wood would be delighted! However, I have been finding regen to be not so bad on the latest upgrade...

    Model S85D slow at supercharger

I would ask them to tell me what they regard as acceptable charge rates and to provide more details on the diagnostics, although I wouldn't expect an answer. I would also repeat the test from outside the car with all heating off. It would be interesting to hear from those in much warmer countries.

You had a completely new main battery under warranty? On what basis?

Wiki Sudden Loss Of Range With 2019.16.x Software

Has anyone tried Jailbreaking their car to fix this? I don't know much about it at all, but perhaps a way to revert to pre mid-2019 versions of the software?

    Less regen on 2019.40.2?

You're probably asking in the wrong place, but I'd guess maybe not?
  26. T

    Model S85D slow at supercharger

Are there any bulk stats on this? I think ALL S/X are affected to varying degrees. I've got a late 2018 MS75D and charging from 20-80% is now taking about 45 mins - it used to be more like 25. OK, so this is at 11 degrees C - which Tesla now seems to regard as "winter" but it was a lot better...

    Less regen on 2019.40.2?

One tip for at least getting slightly quicker regen is to tell the car to navigate to a Supercharger. Apparently this conditions (by warming) the battery into a state where it's happy to accept charge. Still doesn't bring back the levels of regenerative braking we had in the past, but better...

    Free Supercharger Miles inaccurate deduction

I wonder how one can see/check the upcoming expiry of miles - eg. the 5,000 that only last 3 months. Presumably just rely on them not to cock it up?!

Any chance Apple play could be a software upgrade?

I’m fairly certain that you don’t need a special bit of hardware in a CarPlay client. I have a cheap dongle that does it for Android tablet. Not very well, I concede.... But I agree with those that say it’s mostly down to a mix of not G’ing a F and some sense of propriety about the UX.

Would love to see it for things like suspension height and lights
