Epidemic of Model 3 small window break-ins
To test this I actually got into the trunk, and the phone was walked away by another person until the car auto-locked itself, curbed the mirrors etc. After waiting in locked state for ~10 seconds I opened the trunk and got out without an alarm. It could be possible that it was sensing the phone... -

Tesla Model 3 Alarm? My car was broken into and the alarm didn't go off...
They can also trigger the trunk open from the inside using a stick to push the safety release. When the trunk is opened from the inside it does not trigger the alarm. We just figured this out on our Model3 after our second small window break in one week.
