    $235 for cabin filter replacement?

Tesla charged me $59.50 to change the cabin air filter in my 2019 Model 3 LR about a year ago. $34 parts and $25.50 labor.

2 Public NACS locations now open

Yeah. I think it’s going to be super confusing for people with older Teslas when they discover that they can’t charge using something that looks like the same plug.

"Proactive" 12v battery replacement - good idea or overkill?

The message in the car says "Electrical system backup power is unavailable. Vehicle will consume more energy when idle": I can also tell you that when this happened to me, the car definitely did not sleep until I had the 12V battery replaced.

How I Recovered Half of my Battery's Lost Capacity

Interesting. For daily driving I keep the car between 50-70%. I took a trip and got back yesterday. Pulled into the garage with 13%, but a couple of hours later it was at 8%. Charged overnight to 70%, which drifted upward to 74%. Interesting seeing this battery adjustment in action.

I stopped here going to and from Sequoia National Park just the other days. Only a couple other cars charging, and got fast speeds. The travel center is very nice as others have said. A very pleasant place to stop.

    Substantial phantom drain between 60-70%

Yes, it’s attributed to vehicle standby. I could believe the temperature hypothesis if this happened at other battery levels. But I only see this when my battery is between 60 and 70%.

    Substantial phantom drain between 60-70%

This has been a long standing issue with my 2019 Model 3 LR. When I park the car with the battery between 60-70%, it loses substantial charge just sitting there. For example, today I parked in my 65 degree garage with the battery at 67%. An hour later it was at 63%. Sentry was off and no one...

"Proactive" 12v battery replacement - good idea or overkill?

I got the warning at 44 months. The car gave me a warning that “Vehicle will consume more energy while idle,” which I took to mean it wouldn’t go to sleep and risk stranding me. Tesla Mobile Service replaced my 12V battery free of charge.

thoughts on Pirelli P Zero All Season Plus Elect for Model 3?

I’ve had the PZero AS+ Elect on my Model 3 for about 3 months and 3k miles. Overall I’m happy with them. They seem slightly quieter and smoother than the stock Michelin MXM4s. Efficiency is a bit worse — was averaging 260 Wh/mi on the Michelins and 280 Wh/mi on the Pirellis.

Testing the health of 12v battery?

The other interesting thing is that the car warned me it was using the traction battery instead of the 12v one and that I would see increased battery drain while parked until it was replaced. I wonder if this is a recent change to prevent people from getting stranded?

Testing the health of 12v battery?

Here is what the warning looks like. Just had it pop up on my 3.5 year old Model 3, both on the car's display and on my phone. Mobile service replaced it free of charge.

HW3.0 upgrade for basic AP owners now free?

No luck for me. Looking at the estimate, I notice that they are charging $1000 for “Additional items for FSD computer upgrade” and $0 for “Full self-driving computer upgrade.” I wonder if the people getting it for free don’t have the “additional items” entry, that is, their service center isn’t...

anyone try the new pirelli ev tires?

I just had a set of Pirelli P Zero AS Plus Elect tires installed on my 2019 Model 3 Dual Motor w/18” aero wheels. They replaced the original Michelin MXM4 tires which only lasted 26k miles. I then immediately took the car on a 700-mile road trip. First impressions: The Pirellis seem quieter...

    Recommend me a tire

My stock Michelin MXMs are worn out and I need new tires. What is the current recommendation for tires with a good balance of range, durability, and price? I’m less concerned with performance. I have the stock 18” wheels on a 2019 Long Range.

    Gadget charging

For context, an iPhone 13 Pro Max has a 17 Wh battery. A Model 3 SR+ has a ~50,000 Wh battery. Charging the iPhone from empty to full would use 0.03% of the car's battery.

How I Recovered Half of my Battery's Lost Capacity

I ended up doing the battery recalibration recommended in this thread as a side effect of a road trip last week. Now I am seeing a full 310 miles of range on my 3 year old Long Range AWD with 22k miles. Before the trip I believe it was reporting around 295 miles.

Recommendations for how to measure kWh used to charge my model 3 in my condo garage

This is pretty reasonable but I’ve found the extra usage over what the car reports to be even higher than expected — from my data you have to divide what the car reports by 0.75 to get the actual energy used to charge. And this is in an ideal climate, no preconditioning, no sentry use, etc.

    Supercharger stations full?

I did the SF Bay Area to San Diego and back last October. Supercharged 4 times and did not have to wait. The nav system tells you how many chargers are free, so if one is full you can just keep going to the next one. At least along that route there is no shortage of Supercharging sites.

50 kW should be fine for regular charging. Rule of thumb is that it’s safe to charge at up to 1C regularly. 1C = fast enough to charge the battery in one hour. For us that’s ~78 kW. But I agree with the above posters that there’s a good chance you’ll have to charge more frequently than you...

Did you select your model 3 based on 70% battery life?

Not really. I selected my LR AWD because I wanted the faster acceleration of the dual motor model, but I wasn't willing to step all the way up to the P. I didn't really want or need the larger battery.
