    Selling, Upgrading, Questions

Tesla is absolutely in the used Tesla business. I bought and sold cars for a living. I'm pretty good at it. If I could have gotten more money for my car believe me I would have. Tesla overpaid, by a lot.

    Selling, Upgrading, Questions

Tesla gave me much more for my 2019 car than I could get elsewhere, and that's without the $3500 tax difference by trading in.

Machine screws used for license plate? Why???

Almost every car I've ever owned has been machine screws. I think my bmw was different though.

Model 3 - LR AWD Waiting Room

On January 1st it's going to be extremely unlikely that there are any inventory cars anywhere in the country for weeks. Tesla makes massive end of quarter pushes, even selling the demo cars out of the showrooms. There are currently 10s of thousands of people waiting for cars they ordered with...

Notified that VIN issued with immediate delivery window at Christmas time, not letting me schedule delivery after the New Year.

Tesla doesn't have traditional dealerships or places to store cars. Of you're not ready to take the car when they build it, they'll sell it to someone who is. As a shareholder you should be happy they're not holding a bunch of assets waiting on payment.

    Delivery day interior inspection?..

You're worrying about something that's unlikely to be a concern.

Order on hold until March, email today order will be cancelled?!?

What part of the order agreement, which you signed, says they'll hold orders? Cause I can show you exactly where is says they don't hold orders. You got an exception to the rule, and now you're unhappy that they've stopped breaking the rules for you.
  8. R

Order on hold until March, email today order will be cancelled?!?

They didn't agree to put it in place. You got an employee to temporarily violate the agreement you signed.
  9. R

Order on hold until March, email today order will be cancelled?!?

I've bought 3 Teslas in as many years. In fact, in 2019, the period was knocked down to 7 days for a bit, except if you missed that, they just refunded your order fee. Now they keep it.

Order on hold until March, email today order will be cancelled?!?

If you're waiting for something new, you'll always be waiting for something new.
  11. R

Order on hold until March, email today order will be cancelled?!?

Their policy is that you can have 1 single 30 day delay. Period. Now, some employees have previously allowed that rule to be broken. But that doesn't mean it's not the rule. Half the people that are getting these cancelation warnings are upset because they believe that Tesla hasn't...

Order on hold until March, email today order will be cancelled?!?

No? What do you think they mean by this? For new vehicles, if you do not take delivery within thirty (30) days of our first attempt to notify you, Tesla may cancel your order and keep your Order Fee.
  13. R

Order on hold until March, email today order will be cancelled?!?

The order agreement you signed says they only delay orders for 30 days.

Yes. There's also a good possibility you go to the back of the line on the new car

Battery cracked [Tesla claims from pothole damage]

It's obvious something hit it. I'm not sure what you'd expect them to do. On road or off road, it doesn't actually matter. The vehicle collided with something, that caused damage. That's exactly what insurance is for.

Model 3 Performance Waiting Room [2020-2023]

I guess they could be like ford and and leave them parked in lots waiting for parts and not deliver em.
  20. R

Locking in a price in anticipation of the Federal Tax Credit

You should read the order agreement that you agreed to when you ordered your car. 30 days is the maximum you can delay delivery.

Talk to me about automatic car washes

Any automatic will swirl paint. Period. There's no such thing as a soft touch wash. All of them do damage. I've had people show me swirled up cars, thinking that that's how paint is supposed to look when it's "shiny" Because swirls make a paint look 'busy' a lot of people think that's an...

Talk to me about automatic car washes

Unless a car is covered in mud, I've never pre-rinsed a car before using ONR. We don't salt our roads here, but they use a ton of mag clouride here, and that comes off just fine with ONR. I use the single bucket method.

Is LR worth an extra 6k?

It's going to entirely be dependent on your usage. Being from CA, I'd assume RWD will be fine, but when I'm at most people would say AWD is a necessity. On a side note, there's a couple LR's showing in current inventory tonight in Colorado.

Talk to me about automatic car washes

Go over the panel with a wash mitt. Dry it with 1 or 2 towels. It works the same way every other soap does. It breaks the chemical bond between the surface and the dirt. When you dry the car, that prevents streaks.

Talk to me about automatic car washes

If you're going to an automatic wash a couple times a month, your paint definitely doesn't look showroom shiny.

Optimum no rinse and a 5 gallon bucket, and you can wash the car anywhere.

How’s my strategy for pushing order to 2022

Right, but there's literally nothing written about freezing an order. When you order a car you agree to buy a car as configured as soon as they can match you with one. Anything other than that is a Tesla employee making an exception to the legal agreement you signed.
  30. R

How’s my strategy for pushing order to 2022

The reason you can't get a straight answer, is because under the order agreement Tesla will give you up to 30 days to delay delivery. That's it. Everything else, is an employee making an exception to the agreement you signed when you ordered your car. Maybe they'll keep doing it, maybe they...

My new LR model 3 only has 75kWh Battery

Alright, there's a lot to unpack in your rant here, but I'll give it a go. Tesla doesn't quote battery sizes any more. It's true that most LR cars since the spring have had the 82kwh battery, yours probably does too. 82kwh batteries are not fully unlocked right now, so even if you had one...

My new LR model 3 only has 75kWh Battery

The dude clearly has no idea what he's looking at. He's convinced himself that he got screwed, and there's nobody that'll change his mind. He also said he paid $70k for an LR, which assuming he got every single option and FSD, you still can't get to more than $65k. If I had to guess, he's...
  34. R

My new LR model 3 only has 75kWh Battery

You need to use a scan tool to check the actual capacity. If you truly have a long range car, and you truly have a battery only showing 65kwh, then you need a warranty replacement.
  35. R

Locking in a price in anticipation of the Federal Tax Credit

If you're concerned with being able to afford a $50k car, you should not buy a $50k car. There's nothing in the order documentation that requires Tesla to lock in pricing, and as of late they've gone back and forth. A bunch of people ordered Model X and S cars thinking that they'd get pricing...

Got a bad tint job. Not sure what I should do.

They definitely did it cutting the tint. They will size it on the outside of the window, cut it, and then move inside to install it. That's an extremely common mistake among new tinters.

    Price Increase

I've been telling people for months, if you want a Tesla, order a Tesla. Waiting on rebates, rumors, new features, new batteries... it never ends, and almost always means you're going to get screwed. There's an old saying in the car business. Buy the car, not the deal. If you find a car you...

Talk to me about automatic car washes

Easiest wash method for your average person is Optimum No Rinse green. A bucket with a grit guard. A high quality sponge or wash mitt, a couple high quality edgeless microfiber drying towels. If you want to go 1 more level up, optimum hyperseal as a drying aid. Takes me less than 30 mins to...

Talk to me about automatic car washes

The problem with those places is they're using crappy towels that have been dropped, and used on 50 other cars that week, and people that aren't paid enough to care. My general advice is to not let anyone touch your paint, unless they're a professional that knows what they're doing.

Talk to me about automatic car washes

I assure you I can show you damage after one wash. Just because someone doesn't know what they're looking at, doesn't mean the damage isn't there. Tuesday I spent 8 hours on a model y with 400 miles on it. Owner washed it twice, over $1,000 in work.
