How to adjust trunk lid alignment

Just to let you know that I tried this (after seeing this 5 year old post) and it sorta worked. Thanks.

What Are Inventory Cars? vs Ordered?

Not sure that would work as we already had a vin assigned. Anyway, we picked up the new Y today! Thanks for all the advice - regardless, we lost $500 but saved $2,500 with the $3,000 lower ‘inventory’ car. And now I see that the inventory price for a Y is back up. End of the fourth quarter...

Woogie - the new word for the day!

    Electric car costs

Is it just me? The media keeps talking about the average price of electric cars being so high and unaffordable, yet the price of a basic Model 3 (which I'm sure we'll all agree is a great car) is now $36K. With a $7500 tax credit (and $2K more for NY residents), that's a $27K car. That's...

What Are Inventory Cars? vs Ordered?

Not yet but I'm not too worried as Tesla pushes like crazy to deliver at the end of the quarter.

What Are Inventory Cars? vs Ordered?

Well, after all of this craziness, the SA told us that the PDF document in the Tesla app shows the 'corrected' price! She was right - despite all the places online that said we were being charged the higher, regular ordering price, the $3,000 deduction was listed in the document buried in the...

What Are Inventory Cars? vs Ordered?

Yep. That exactly what I did and then after I ordered with the card and got a notice in my app, it said the $44K price plus delivery.

What Are Inventory Cars? vs Ordered?

Hi, there's an Inventory selection button sorta buried in the Vehicles section online. It shows all of the Inventory vehicles with a nice filter for new or used, color, Model, etc. That's where I ordered the vehicle at the lesser 'Inventory' price and it shows up in my account at the 'regular'...

What Are Inventory Cars? vs Ordered?

I have no clue what you’re talking about. I never said it was sold. Tesla has a lot of Model Y’s on the inventory list. But when I order one, it first says the cheaper Inventory price, but when the app is accessed, it gives a higher and regular price.

What Are Inventory Cars? vs Ordered?

I'm a fool. Today's inventory price was $3,000 less for the Model Y RWD so I cancelled my order again (now down $500 in deposits!). Again, I took screen shots of the new $41,900 inventory price but when I put down the $250 order cost and checked the app, it said the price was $44,900! Tesla's...

What Are Inventory Cars? vs Ordered?

Well, I canceled the order and with a SA on the line to confirm things, ordered an Inventory car for $1,800 less. AND of course when I opened the app minutes later to double check everything, it showed the higher original price! So frustrating. I did take screen shots of the right price, so...

What Are Inventory Cars? vs Ordered?

Not sure what to do - we have a MY RWD on order and a vin number assigned but delivery is weeks away. How can I switch from that one to the Inventory one which is $1800 cheaper? Cancel and lose the $250 deposit or can I switch?

    Autopilot disappointment

Just got a 2023 Prius Prime. Their lane assist was great as originally stated. The nudge feature was really useful and sorta superior to Tesla’s version. And when changing lanes, it automatically re-engaged its autopilot. So convenient and free - no need to spend several thousand dollars on...

6,000+ miles of continental autopilot use….

I agree - decent but not great. Mr. Musk is brilliant but an idiot - I can't imagine any other company this size that has a leader that regularly lies about a product (Level 4/5 by the end of this year) and doesn't get the boot or the company isn't sued by shareholders. There is room for...

6,000+ miles of continental autopilot use….

Such divisiveness. The OP has concerns that many, many other posters have talked about/shared. These software systems aren't perfect. I don't use AP unless, as the OP suggested, there is light highway traffic. It drives my better half crazy when I use it. I suggest that folks should...

    Cabin Air Filter Replacement Questions

I've been using HEPA filters for air pollution research for decades. If they aren't dirty, smelly, or have a hole in them, they don't really need to be replaced. Some last 20-40 years if maintained. Same should apply to Tesla's cabin filters. Also, I thought I read that the software was...

    Seasucker Monkey Bars

When I dug into it a bit more, I realized the 60 inch version is just an extender piece for in the middle for $50 more. It arrived today so I just started playing with it. The 48 inch version just reaches the sides of my 2021 M3. BTW, did I read the instructions wrong? You are using the...

    Seasucker Monkey Bars

Hi, did you ever get an answer on 48 vs 60 inch? I can't find out any info. 48 just covers the width of the roof but 60 in would still be within the width of the car and seems doable? Does anyone out there know if the 60 inch Seasucker would work on a Model 3?

"Keep the Tesla app running for the best phonekey experience"

I’ve been monitoring this thread for a year or more. I understand everything (almost!) that the group is sharing. But I can’t agree with everyone’s experiences. I’m on my second M3 and going on four years of ownership so I’m not a newbie. What I disagree with is the strong opinions posted...

Is level 1 charging a viable long-term option?

ewoodrick - I'm always amazed at the different views of the 'right way to charge' on these blogs. As you said way back, 120 V works fine. Maybe a bit inefficient but it works. Spending $3K to $10K to get faster charging (old house with 60 amps) doesn't seem worth it.

Energy Consumption graph WAY off after software update

I'm getting the opposite problem. I use to average 243 wh/mile (I drive like a granpa, I guess) which went up to around 260 when I got new tires, and then when the last update went through, 2023.12.5, my wh/mile got better (in the 220 wh/mile range) - definitely not a weather change or tire...

Is level 1 charging a viable long-term option?

I have used 120 volts at home for three years and as a low mileage driver, it works fine. With a 2021 Model 3 AWD, I get 5 miles/hr using 12 amps (as an earlier post said, 9 amps is inefficient).

    EV.Energy app

One of the points to use the evenergy app (and similar ones) is that the app also records the charging time/data and reports it to your electricity provider so that you get cheap rates and cash incentives to charge during off peak hours. That's a big deal to encourage people to charge off peak...

    Apple Music and Voice Commands

True but I just wanted to note a simple and cheap (if you already have unlimited cell data and Apple Music) way to not have to pay Tesla for their cell service and enjoy music.
  28. T

    Apple Music and Voice Commands

I push the right button on the steering wheel and start every trip, for example, with “Hey Siri, play on the road again by Willie Nelson” and it works every time. The key is “Hey Siri”, which bypasses the useless/bothersome/expensive Tesla streaming. The odd thing is that sometimes Siri...

Repeater camera issues. Blinkers seen on screen when flashing.

I suggest that you all do a good search in TMC (sorry but I don’t remember where I read it) and find the thread where this guy identified and fixed the problem. Maybe a year ago. The blinker light bleeds through, I think, three holes in the PCB that controls the camera. He gave nice...

For iPhone folks, I unchecked the Banner notification under Tesla in Settings and it got rid of the PIA banner. I left Notification on Lock Screen checked because I want reminders about ‘Open windows’, etc.

Everything wrong with V11 update / user interface.

It's not just you. My wife and I find it so odd that Tesla uses the bluetooth icon for this reason. As many folks have said, it's not clear that the UI software writers actually drive a Tesla. I would love to see someone start a poll on how many people use the game center at all or how often...

Basenor Model 3 Sun Shades - Review

A word of caution about the Temai roof shades. I bought them for my Model 3 and they work great. Unfortunately, they include a black liner to go between the white/tan shade and the roof glass. I wrote them to say this didn't make sense (black absorbing light and heat) and they said the black...

Water collecting in Model 3 trunk lid?

Happened to me on my M3 AWD LR and it's April 2022, so they haven't fixed the problem since this thread started 2 years ago (!). Tons of water sloshing inside - had to lift and lower the trunk lid to get maybe a quart of water out of it. Something is wrong but service center is far away...

"Keep the Tesla app running for the best phonekey experience"

Thanks Hugh, I'll check that. I'm not overthinking but just trying to reduce phantom drain which admittedly has lessened since my first Tesla M2.
  36. T

"Keep the Tesla app running for the best phonekey experience"

But even if in the background, for iOS, that means turning on Background Refresh for the Tesla App which would keep checking the car and maybe waking it, wouldn't it?
  37. T

"Keep the Tesla app running for the best phonekey experience"

This is a bit crazy - I though the 'general rule' was to close the Tesla app when not using so the phantom drain on the battery would be reduced (greatly according to some). Now Tesla wants to keep it on and the car in a less than deep sleep mode? A bit non-environmental to me. TG

Banging/clunking sound when driving over mountains in cold weather

When I drive down our big hill (only 440 ft elevation) in the coldest part of the last 2 winters, I get a huge clunk when I hit the brakes. Whole car jerks - this can't be the pops you all are talking about? It's one of those things that happens 2 or 3 times in the winter and no way will the...

Wall charger cable starting to distort

I have the bumps on my 2 year old cable and things (knock on some wood) seem to work fine. As for the cause, I don't think it's over heating while charging as it's hardly warm to the touch. Maybe delmination from the sun hitting the black cable?? But that doesn't make sense as 2 people said...

What is inside the box on my Tesla 3 charge cable?

Has anyone noticed bumps in the charging cable (Gen 2, I believe). It's been outdoors but under the porch roof for 2 years and it has small bumps at a few spots in the cable. Never ran over it or abused it all. TG

Everything wrong with V11 update / user interface.

I tried it a couple times but maybe the map was too small as there aren't any Superchargers within 20 miles. I will try again! Thanks for the tip.

Everything wrong with V11 update / user interface.

I don't know about everyone else, but I often think in terms of my parents and others who aren't computer savy. I am pretty sure that they couldn't handle a Tesla's touch screen let alone a changing touch screen. That's a lot of people who couldn't handle this situation at all.
  45. T

Everything wrong with V11 update / user interface.

That isn't there in the V11 update. I agree that was simple but pressing the map doesn't bring up the supercharger icon. You have to click on the Navigate box and then you can choose Supercharger.

Everything wrong with V11 update / user interface.

I agree. This is definitely not a case of getting used to something new. It's a silly Elon-style ridiculous change. As said by others, all of this entertainment stuff is useless. Don't make me look at the screen and when my eyes should be on the road. And to remove voice commands that I...
