    CHADEMO ADAPTER

I've used my Chademo adapter quite a bit over the years, although not so much lately. I still carry it, though. It charges at a lower power level than what we're getting used to with the current version of superchargers, but still comes in handy in a pinch.

    New tires with sidewall?

I have 18" wheels and Michelin Defender 2 tires (downsized from 20" wheels on my 2018 Performance Model 3 for better ride quality and less pothole damage worry). The tires ride very nice and have a 60K mileage warranty. I'm on track to get that many miles on this set of tires. Highly recommended.

My on going battle regarding my purchase of a used 2013 Model S P85+

Do the seats have a different color piping on the edges? That's a sign that the car is a Performance model. Are the wheels staggered? That was what they did with the + model. I'm suspicious of the dealer saying "we put a standard motor in it"...Most dealers wouldn't know how to do that. And...

My on going battle regarding my purchase of a used 2013 Model S P85+

Buy EV in another state with No Sales Tax?

Not sure where you are located, but here in CA they charge sales tax when a car is bought new in the state and a "use" tax when a used car is bought (either in-state or brought in from out of state). The use tax is equivalent to the sales tax rate. So if I buy a new car here, I pay sales tax...

Weird ChargePoint Electrical Inspection in NJ

Where I live, the average commute (pre-Covid) was 30 miles per day. Since so many work from home a day or two here and there, the average commute could be a little bit less than 30 miles per day now. A 20 amp circuit at 208v or 240v that will charge at 16 amps continuously is perfectly fine for...

Help with Grand Canyon Road trip

Since the initial post / news story, more information has come out about the incident. Toxicology tests showed that Ms. Chao's blood alcohol level was 0.233 (about 3x the legal limit), and she backed over a limestone block wall before the vehicle entered the water. Very sad...

Thanks...Paul, the owner of the shop, worked on my car. He was trained by his Dad and has been in the car repair / alignment business for many years. My GF is a cousin. They invited us back so I could see him make the final adjustments after ther camber arms were installed. Very interesting...

Will Other Car Companies Standardize Charge Port Location?

The newer superchargers (with the skinnier cords) have liquid cooling built in as part of the dispenser hardware. So if an extension cord were to be used, for safety's sake, the dispenser would have to detect it and de-rate the charging session appropriately to prevent overloading/overheating...

The Cybertruck is more expensive to supercharge than a Ford F-150 costs in gas

Years ago, there were no base charges. Energy was priced by the kWh. Now, for various reasons, including the adoption of solar, etc., utilities are trying to shift over to a model of a base charge plus reduced prices per kWh. If you really want to compare apples vs. apples pricing for energy...

Santee Cooper in South Carolina (if that's your utility) has regular residential rates as well as EV experimental rates. Model 3 Tire replacement

I have a ton of great things to say about the Michelin Defender 2 tires. They have a long warranty (80,000 miles) and I have put on about 35,000 miles on my set and am still measuring 7-8/32" of remaining tread left...If you buy the softer "Summer" type tires, the tread will wear much faster...

Will Tesla Service install non standard tire sizes?

It may be a little extra hassle, but if a tire place is unsure about working on Teslas, then you probably don't want them doing it. They could damage the battery if they lift it incorrectly. If they are saying a 20" wheel won't fit their machine (when other cars have larger wheels), then you...

No, it doesn't. I'm not sure that the extender battery pack is ready for market. Even so, it would be better to add the extra pack as an accessory later so it doesn't get counted in the original vehicle cost that determines the DMV registration costs initially and going forward (in CA)..
