I recently received a system warning for my 12v battery on my Model S 2016. Tesla informed me that there was water damage to a wiring harness inside the driver-side footwell that shorted out the 12v battery. Tesla cannot tell me where the water is coming from but they did remove and reinstall the windshield. I asked why and was told that the windshield needed to be removed to repair the wiring harness in the footwell. The repair (out-of warranty) was $5,800, as all of the wiring needed to be spliced. Can anyone confirm that the windshield Needs to be removed to do this repair? By the way, Tesla replaced my windshield 2 years ago due to a crack. Thanks.
