Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Elon promised that Tesla would be profitable and cash flow positive for the year of 2018.

No. Tesla.com loads fine / as expected for me.

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Doubtful. I don't think many people would have been privy to the full scope of layoff plans. Maybe two dozen. I'd suspect corporate espionage or a 3rd party leak (like a consultant, or an auditor) before insider trading. Also remember that this type of deal doesn't just happen in a few hours...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Since the new factory is not operational, it has no impact on profitability. So if Tesla's guidance forecasts a loss in Q1, then something else is going on. Furthermore, 200-300M in profit each quarter is insufficient to fund the sheer quantity of projects they've announced. The big question...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

I don't think Q4 results are going to be as important to the stock price as the 2019 guidance. I suspect the answers to these questions will be the main drivers of stock price: What is the status of these projects? Many were not even discussed in previous investor letters and SEC filings...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

You mean the product announced more than 2 years ago and is installed on less than 100 homes? And, according to Tesla's CapEx projections and recent solar division layoffs/closures, won't be getting mass production in 2019?

Not for investors. Tesla misses out on profit every time someone buys a Model 3 who otherwise would have bought a Model S.

Re: Service Elon Musk on October 16th There hasn't been a single service center opening since then. While he still has 3 months left, the data on property leases in this article is not promising: Elon Musk said Tesla would fill its North American service gaps in three to six months. Three...

Is there any proof of "shadow mode" and "data transmission back to the mothership"? 8 video feeds is a lot of raw and uncompressed data... That's a lot of data to both store and transmit, and definitely too much data to be sent over cellular networks. I'm curious if anyone has actually looked...

Is there any 8K on the European Homologation? Or any public announcement about this? An LA Times reporter said that Tesla's spokesperson had told them they were good-to-go for EU, and Reuters also published an article saying the same thing. But Tesla hasn't posted anything about it on their...

As I said in a previous post, I'll wait for the DMV reports that come out this February. I don't think Tesla drove 100 autonomous miles in 2018, according to the legal definitions of autonomous driving. Driving on highways is much, much easier than driving on normal, ordinary roads.

Seriously... you really think FSD is coming this year? They still don't have their cross-country road trip. They still don't seem to have any cars testing on live roads today. Full autonomous driving isn't a thing where you just "flip a switch and it works." It's going to take a ton of live...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Could come in Q1 or Q2... but then they'd have to produce it in bulk and equip all the cars with it. That takes time. It takes new production capabilities. They'll have to test each car they equip them with. Service centers are already pretty overwhelmed keeping up with Model 3 deliveries. I...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

I think the real question now is "what's next?" The layoffs in themselves aren't bad, but they are causing institutional investors to face some tough questions in their own portfolio reviews. I think the biggest issue is that it doesn't seem like Tesla will have any new products in 2019. The...
