    Low Voltage battery replacement

Next morning service is pretty special. I had the same warning in my 2019 M3 today, just booked a service and they came back with March 12. I just hope the battery doesn't die completely while I am away from home leaving me needing a tow. The car has also disabled all the USB ports (no...

    Supercharger - Brisbane (Indooroopilly), Qld

The new superchargers are featured in this article Indooroopilly becomes Brisbane’s largest EV charging hub in one week One of the people interviewed in there shares my concerns about how difficult it is to navigate inside that shopping centre car park and the crazy traffic there at the weekend.

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

Nobody's mentioned the moved trip data card, which has moved into its own sub-section under the car icon. This is something I previously left visible while I was driving as I found it a good way to measure my energy efficiency. I'm really annoyed it's moved to that obscure location. Also agree...

When did you start to see battery degradation

This is my SR+ for the last 2 years. I've only done 12600km in that time, and it's dropped from 380km to around 345km now. What's weird are the big, sudden drops in range in the first year, with only slower degradation after that.

Petition for government subsidies for EV’s

I'd call it a low/no interest loan. You're not giving anyone money that they don't already have. Just because something is not taxed at your preferred rate does not make that a subsidy. This is not my definition, it's the dictionary's. subsidy noun [ C ] money given as part of the cost of...

Petition for government subsidies for EV’s

Fossil fuels are not subsidised. I continue to see this myth promulgated and it's completely wrong. Unlike renewables which need gobs of taxpayer money to keep them going.

Petition for government subsidies for EV’s

I'd sign something to remove taxes, but I don't see why poor people's taxes should help pay for cars that only well off people can afford.

Turning Bluetooth off - am I being paranoid...

Frankly as an end user I don't give a rat's ass about the technical reasons, I just want it to work. And I say this as someone who's been writing software for 36 years. If it doesn't work properly, it doesn't matter how clever it is, it's no good. Vostok has found something that has shocked me a...

Turning Bluetooth off - am I being paranoid...

Frankly, I don't think it should open unless the phone is right next to the driver's door. Possibly also the passenger's door. The leeway as it stands is too far. Nobody is going to be opening a door unless you're stood next to it, unless you have freakishly long arms.

    Phone unlock very unreliable

I am using a Pixel 2, and it is 99% reliable. There's the odd time when it takes a little longer to connect to the car when I approach, but I think that's down to the phone going to sleep to save power.

    Tesla Model 3 in Australia

If you stick to roads with well defined painted lines and minimal curves, it does a good job. It will fail badly on corners if a car is coming the other way on the apex, and it will fail badly when you have a side road on a corner. The TACC also seems to have a hard time on these.

    Melbourne HPWC installation

Exactly this. I got mine installed from a local sparky, similar length of cable run. I also got a 15A socket put in for backup and a complete distribution board rebuild to replace all the old breakers will modern RCBOs. It only came to a little more than what Jet Charge quoted above.

Replacing a Model 3 front windscreen due to a failed chip repair...

My father has worked in the car industry his whole life. He keeps telling me that if I don't want windscreen chips, I should not follow other vehicles too closely. So far the advice has worked.
