So in the end, The VAT office raised the issue up to IMCOM Europe level and essentially made Tesla take a Euro Check. The crazy thing was when I brought the check in to Tesla on delivery day it was like no big deal.

I'm a teacher here in Europe, so I can be here for a long time if i choose to be. So no worries about having a Euro spec car

Thanks for the explanation. I agree the US VAT office is a bit dated. However, I was a bit confused on how Tesla would not work with a cashiers check from the bank. In the states you can use a personal check if you wanted.

Ordered a 2020 Model X long Range back in mid-April. Finally got a delivery date of 13th of July in Frankfurt. Super pumped, but now down to brass tax of getting money and paperwork in line.

What ship would you expect MX to be traveling on toward Europe? I have A MX on order since mid April and I'm just wonder what to look for. I did see the hidden VIN a few days ago, but no estimated date of delivery. Thanks for all of the help Mr. M.

Looking at a VIN website that gives rough out of gate dates. You can see that MX Long Range + are stated for Holland. So maybe soon the Tesla Europe site will update to reflect Long Range Plus in the design studio because they seem to be coming.

In Germany I have a MX on order and it looks like it would be about 2000 euro cheaper now. However, free super charging is not given anymore. I know I won't super charge that often, but it is a nice perk to have and great as a resale incentive.
