My Tesla ordering journey, in summary:
2016:
31/3 - Placed a Model 3 reservation deposit of $1500 six minutes into the launch event (before the reveal!) - RN108448814
17/5 - Bought a second hand Nissan Leaf while I wait
2019:
Tesla Model 3 launched in Australia, but out of my price range at the time
2021:
28/1 - Decided I would not be able to afford a Model 3 in the near future and had my reservation refunded
16/4 - Tesla drops price of Model 3 (SR+ by $4000)
25/4 - Placed order for Model 3 SR+ - RN114854642
28/4 - Found Tas Government election promise for EV stamp duty waiver
1/5 - Tas Government re-elected
20/5 - Received email that Model 3 was scheduled for delivery 2/6
25/5 - Due to desire to hold off for stamp duty waiver, and after discussion with Tesla staff, had to cancel Model 3 order ($150 order fee forfeited)
31/5 - Received confirmation that I was successful in applying to the EV Grid trial (free wall charger)
28/6 - Became aware of Tesla Corporate Program, began petitioning employer
1/7 - EV stamp duty waiver announced and active (~$2650 saving)
6/7 - Free ChargeMate home wall charger installed (~$2000 value)
11/7 - Tesla drops price of Model 3 (SR+ by $3000). Opens up possibility of Model Y SR pricing within range. Consider holding off for more info on Model Y release.
16/7 - Employer joined Tesla Corporate Program ($1375 saving)
2/7 - Model Y orders open in Hong Kong (first RHD region) (including SR)
2/8 - Model Y deliveries start in Hong Kong
4/8 - First Model Y test units arrive in Australia (including SR)
... waiting for Model Y SR ...
11/11 - Receive notification that Tesla Corporate Program will end by 31/12
10/12 - Order fee increases to $350 ($200 increase)
15/12 - Placed order for Model 3 RWD - RN116227370
2022:
9/2 - VIN allocated - 515xxx range
2/3 - Tesla increases price of Model 3 RWD ($1000 - not affected)
16/3 - Tesla increases price of Model 3 RWD ($3000 - not affected)
30/3 - Received notification of scheduled delivery for 8/4
2/4 - Pepper announced finance rate increase (to 3.99% - not affected)
8/4 - Delivery!
