A new urban Supercharger just opened in Las Vegas at Tivoli Village, 400 South Rampart Boulevard, Las Vegas, NV 89145, as reported to the local Facebook group.

July for sure, but end of May would require a small miracle at this point. With Hawthorne open, you can skip Tonopah on the way down anyway.

Stopped by last night. It looks like the whole Pocket Park area is fenced off for construction. The superchargers still have a ways to go.

Update: According to someone at the Town Office, construction will start next week.

If they do start construction by the end of March, then I'd say you've got at least a 50/50 chance. It might come down to the wire though, so you'll need alternate plans.

Update: Talked to the town manager. The design work for the Supercharger was just completed last week. Apparently Tesla needed some feedback or participation from NV Energy on the design, which took some time. They are now hoping/expecting to start construction by the end of March...

The same minutes make it clear why agreement was not reached with NV Energy on the L2 charger. NV Energy was proposing to pay $30k, whereas the town thought it would cost closer to $100k and made a counter-offer along those lines. I have no idea why it would cost so much, but apparently they...

From the minutes of the town board meeting on Jan. 13: "Tesla is hopeful to be breaking ground by the end of February." Meanwhile the state's Electric Highway L2 charger appears to be a no-go: "NV Energy could not come to a resolution."

The minutes [PDF] from the Dec. 9 town board meeting have been posted. I'll say this for the board, they are cautious and try to look at all the angles. They have been consistently less favorable toward the state's L2 charger, mostly because the town only gets a one-time grant for the L2...

Because of the Solar City thing, or ... ? Tesla is not that petty, and they do have the gigafactory here. Nevada has been pretty friendly to Tesla and autonomous driving. Still waiting for 7.1 here. The current version of Summon sounds pretty useless to me, but I expect it will be part of...

Update: The town board approved the contract last week and sent the documents back to Tesla for signature. Construction probably won't start until February due to the weather. I would think a March or April opening is likely, possibly May if there are delays.

... and still no progress on the supercharger. The site is dead and gathering dust.

The most direct route won't be open until we have Beatty, Tonopah and either Hawthorne or Fallon.

When Tonopah opens in the spring, Las Vegas - Beatty - Tonopah - Gardnerville - Reno/Tahoe will be possible in an 85. I think the Lone Pine route, which is a little longer, is only necessary if you don't have 85 kWh to work with.
