How well does the glass roof reflect heat?

It is a forum. Most people come here to discuss and ask questions. Others provide useful answers. But some prefer to insult folks with "stop being stupid". Not helpful imo....

How well does the glass roof reflect heat?

Thanks, good stuff. I stand corrected. This is good to know since the Overheat protection can really draw the battery down here in Las Vegas. If they add settings later to adjust the temperature that will be a big plus. For now I will stop using it for temps below 100F. Appreciate the link!!!

How well does the glass roof reflect heat?

Please show me in the manual where it explains the purpose of the Overheat protection. If it designed to protect children or dogs left in the car on a hot day then it should be described as such. Until someone can provide some link or explanation coming from Tesla explaining its purpose then it...

How well does the glass roof reflect heat?

OK, interesting! Any references to Tesla or Elon stating that would be appreciated. 105F degrees seems pretty high for child or dog protection if that was the intent. Thanks

How well does the glass roof reflect heat?

The overheat protection was installed for a purpose, that being to protect interior components inside the car from excessive heat and possible long term damage. It was not installed to provide comfort for the driver returning to the car. The most important interior component is the computer as...

How well does the glass roof reflect heat?

Interesting! Here is a quote from Normal CPU Temperature: How Hot Is Too Hot For CPU - CPUTemper "The average Intel & AMD desktop processors should not exceed the safe/normal CPU temperature range of 45-50°C when idle...." That is around 122F

How well does the glass roof reflect heat?

Thanks for that tip, I had tried several times to drag the bottom panel up but the whole screen kept swiping upward. I just now tried again and as long as I do it carefully and slowly it works! That will come in handyt when I forget to reset the overheat when my wife is driving!

How well does the glass roof reflect heat?

Regarding the Cabin Overheat Protection I would suggerst using it The Model Y has a large PC sitting in the interior which can easily exceed 150 degrees on a hot day. Would you turn on your PC at home if it was 150 degrees? The car uses a Heat pump which is so much easier on the battery than...

Model Y Regen Braking and Charging up/down a Mountain

Good stuff, thanks. My trip up the mountain used around 2% of battery for each 1000' of elevation gain, so 6000' of elevation needed an extra 12% of battery to compensate. Lots of other factors to consider speed and battery % charge, but that is probably the rule of thumb I will use for trips up...

Model Y Regen Braking and Charging up/down a Mountain

Quick Question: During the above video the Model Y made a beeping noise twice on the way down the mountain. You can hear this at 4:10 in the video. It sounds similar to heavy equipment when backing up. Both times this occured it stopped after around 20 seconds. It has not done it since and no...

Model Y Regen Braking and Charging up/down a Mountain

My wife and I have been hiking up at Mt Charleston weekly to avoid the heat down in the Vegas valley. The climb is 5700' to the trails above. I was not paying much attention to the battery, but my wife noticed last week that the battery % was actually increasing on the drive back down the...

    September 2021 Order Delivery Dates

Really depends on how many miles/day of driving you plan on doing. 80% is fine if you drive a lot each day, but if you only need to drive 100 miles/day or less then it is better to charge to a lower % to reduce stress on the battery. I fly electric RC planes a lot and the batteries last the...

    Delivery Day Inspection Video

Thanks. Took the vehicle into the local Tesla service center yesterday. They had everything fixed 7 hours later so all is well!

    Delivery Day Inspection Video

Glad you liked the video. I have an appointment this morning to bring the car down to the service center for repairs. I will post the results afterward.
