Don’t get a Plaid X. The driveshaft/CV problem will appear much quicker in the Plaid. For that matter, don’t get an X. It is inexcusable that Tesla has not fixed this design defect.

Now if Tesla would just make all colors no cost again, I could get red with cream interior and qualify for the $7500.

Anyone buying without at least a $3500 discount from today’s $2k lower MSRP is overpaying and shouldn’t complain when, not if, the larger discounts return. Clearing out 45,000 extra cars plus probably another 45,000 this quarter will take lower prices. Plus the Fed is not lowering interest rates...

Today Tesla inventory Ys are only $500 to $1300 off instead of $5300 to over $6000 discounts last week.

Perhaps they think since the outlet is rated for 50 amps, the 80% rule allows a 60 amp breaker. Not how it works. You need to change the breaker to 50 amps.

The issue could be that in most states you must get a state license plate if staying more than 30 days, at which time they would collect sales tax. Police notice out of state plates in smaller towns, but you might get away with it.

A new car is a depreciating asset. The higher its MSRP price, the greater is the dollar lost upon resale. Assume minimum of 25% of real cost (ie minus $7500 ev credit) the second you buy it and then 10-15% more each year thereafter. Don’t buy new if you can’t afford this level of depreciation...

Just make sure your mom likes the new touchscreen interface of the iX. It takes a lot to memorize on which screen stuff is and having to hold your arm mid-air to adjust hvac, radio, etc. vs switches on the dash.

And your points are why we got a Lyriq Lux 3 awd over the Y. The Y is truly a bargain priced ev in low to mid 40ks but the lack of so many features made the extra $20k easily worth it. Seriously considered the X but the driveline design defect hasn’t been fixed. Congrats on your Etron!

The Tesla awd is two motors unlike ICE awd where the front and rear are coupled so it won’t damage hardware, however the computer does not know about the wrong tire size and thus may miscompute as slippage and give warnings or reduce power.

Lots of Y Performance cars now in inventory, most with ~ $500 discount, a few with ~ $1000.
