Today Tesla inventory Ys are only $500 to $1300 off instead of $5300 to over $6000 discounts last week.

Perhaps they think since the outlet is rated for 50 amps, the 80% rule allows a 60 amp breaker. Not how it works. You need to change the breaker to 50 amps.

The issue could be that in most states you must get a state license plate if staying more than 30 days, at which time they would collect sales tax. Police notice out of state plates in smaller towns, but you might get away with it.

A new car is a depreciating asset. The higher its MSRP price, the greater is the dollar lost upon resale. Assume minimum of 25% of real cost (ie minus $7500 ev credit) the second you buy it and then 10-15% more each year thereafter. Don’t buy new if you can’t afford this level of depreciation...

Just make sure your mom likes the new touchscreen interface of the iX. It takes a lot to memorize on which screen stuff is and having to hold your arm mid-air to adjust hvac, radio, etc. vs switches on the dash.

And your points are why we got a Lyriq Lux 3 awd over the Y. The Y is truly a bargain priced ev in low to mid 40ks but the lack of so many features made the extra $20k easily worth it. Seriously considered the X but the driveline design defect hasn’t been fixed. Congrats on your Etron!

The Tesla awd is two motors unlike ICE awd where the front and rear are coupled so it won’t damage hardware, however the computer does not know about the wrong tire size and thus may miscompute as slippage and give warnings or reduce power.

Huh? The other 49 states buy about 1/2 of Teslas sold in USA as well as competing evs. The ev rebate does matter to these purchasers. Tesla 3 without it should lose sales.

Anyone buying a Y has to wonder what is a fair price for it. Inventory 10% off in January now down to 5% or less. But some get an extra $1000 off.

Without a doubt a 2024 will be worth more than $1530 over a 2023 in 4 to 5 years, but probably less than $3000. Also all existing Ys will depreciate more after Juniper update, so if you are concerned about $1530, perhaps wait for Juniper.

Do any 2023s still exist in inventory? Also, try looking for a 2024 in midnight silver as they did exist.

BTW Tesla sent out a $1000 discount yesterday through 3/31/24 for Cybertruck preorderers on Y, S and X. Will Tesla do 10% discounts in late March in addition? I think this is doubtful.

Not everyone wants a stripped down vehicle suitable for rental self driving or Ubering. These will obviously sell to their market until it is saturated. There is a reason every other car maker offers options, even other disruptive ev makers.

To get tradein value you can just put in your trade info without an order. Be aware Tesla doesn’t sell used cars. Trades go to auction. You will be offered worst day low auction price.

ICE car resale values will never drop like a rock, more than they already do. As evs become a larger portion of the fleet, gasoline usage will fall and its price will fall too making ICE usage much cheaper. There will also be 75% of the country where evs don’t make sense - cold and/or long...

But Tesla does do model years per the VIN just like every other brand. Guaranteed if you trade or sell a one year older model you will get less.

2024s are being discounted $3100 today vs about $4500 on a 2023. One year model change is easily worth way more than $1400 regardless of color.

I’ve seen $3100 discount today on some 2024 LRY in WA state. I imagine weather across country is stopping purchases and so the 2024 Y inventory is increasing quickly.

Looking at Tesla fine print on which evs qualify for the $7500 ev credit, it notes that software is not part of the $80k MSRP limit just as shipping isn’t. Does this really mean one can get the base X with FSD and still get the $7500?
