    Why is insurance so high?!?

Not many quote this way but several will break out the price you are paying for each of the coverages you do have in this way once you have a policy.

MASTER THREAD: Auto Wiper functionality, complaints, praise, etc.

Caveat: I dwell in Phoenix, where I am more likely to use the wipers to clear away dust than hydric acid. In the rare occasions where I have driven in levels of rainfall varying from "misty drizzle" to "blattering deluges of torrential squall", my experience with the auto-wipers has been...

    Trigger alarm for finding it?

Yes, sometime in the 2019 revision cycle. They seemed to start trickling in based on forum and other posts around August or September, and were somethat reliably present on cars delivered in September.

    Trigger alarm for finding it?

Doesn't the app now have some way to relay what you say from the car's PWS speaker with a "voice of god" filter on it? Just have your car shout "hey, I am over here you silly goose" at you next time.

    Tesla Service Ain't All Bad

On Labor Day, I decided to run out and pick up lunch only to find the car not responding to my phone's proximity. This had happened before and was fixable by restarting the app or cycling Bluetooth off and on again, but this time, no joy. I started developing some consternation when the car...

MASTER THREAD: Auto Wiper functionality, complaints, praise, etc.

Honestly for my money the worst thing about the Tesla is the lack of a rear windscreen wiper. (at least in the context of this thread)

MASTER THREAD: Auto Wiper functionality, complaints, praise, etc.

In the interest of adding another data point to the pool, a couple days ago there were some unexpected downpours coincident with a power outage. I decided to go for a drive (mainly for the free contactless car wash courtesy of Nature). The rain conditions were highly variant over the course of...

PSA: Don't use third-party apps and services, period.

At the time of the original post in this thread and its ancestors, the only way these Tesla API-driven apps and services could work is by storing your literal actual Tesla account credentials. This means that at the time, if you were using TeslaFi, TeslaMate, or any of the (admittedly spiffy)...

PSA: Don't use third-party apps and services, period.

In general, for best practice, such tools should be configured so that either they can only be accessed at all from within your LAN (i. e. from your physical domicile), or if you want to access it remotely, either via a VPN (which effectively puts you inside your LAN) or through another layer of...

Cabin camera soon to be required for all AP features?

So your solution to being concerned about data that, if you don't opt in to send in aggregated data, are not stored in the first place is to mandate storage onto a removable medium? The video feeds from the neural nets that are part of the driver-assist infrastructures are analyzed, acted upon...

Cabin camera soon to be required for all AP features?

The whole point of the notes in the update though are that -- unless you affirmatively enable and opt in to transmitting data to Tesla, the image data are not stored or transmitted. The NN analyses the camera feed and tries to make a determination as to whether you are paying attention, acts...

    Music Volume fades away …

This is by design, so that you don't share your music/podcast with the entire neighborhood when you open your door, and so that you don't get your ears blown out when you first sit down in the car. I don't mind so much, but of course whether or not this is good design is subjective.

    Pixel 6 Pro Wireless Charging

The Taptes Qi charger is working for my 6 Pro - but only on the right side; the left has no charging point that seems to work for me.

    Funniest Tesla Question Thread

I still get asked "Don't they all cost hundreds of thousands of dollars?" "No, the Model 3 was the one that was planned to be affordable by mere mortals like myself." Of course, this was first asked back when a $35K Model 3 was still theoretically available for purchase.

    Pedestrian Warning System

Some folks think it's reasonable to have one? I actually like the reversing noise because let's be honest, the rear visibility from the driver's seat is terrible. The "white noise" of the PWS when moving forward I have only ever been able to hear when it's reflected back to me, so I'm always...
