I'd simplify it to this. If you are repeatedly losing AutoX's by a tenth of a second, then get wider tires. If you are hoping they'll gain you a half second, you need to work on the driver.

I agree like I've been saying for weeks. To be clear though: short term cash flow. Not "profits". If FSD is about to be real and amazing and worth $100k like Elon always said, then a fire sale doesn't look to be a smart long term profit move. It looks like a company that needs cash in Q2 2024...

Remember - wider tires do not put more tread on the ground. Only lower pressure does that. Wider tires change the contact patch shape. But as in all things tires, it's complicated.

Not to knock anyone, but that driver has run multiple other national tours and has never placed well when there is strong competition. In 2023 in Vegas they ran 1s slower than AS and 3.5 seconds off at Lincoln. In Vegas the top AS car was an Elise, so that was not even a max competitive AS...
