Range Loss Over Time, What Can Be Expected, Efficiency, How to Maintain Battery Health

Ok. I think the temperature is about + 5 degree median, from -15 to + 25. I got from 70 to 50% charging too late. Then if I follow the 50-55% rule forward, when will i need to change the battery? I would like to keep the car as long as possible. (I know that this is a difficult question…..)

Range Loss Over Time, What Can Be Expected, Efficiency, How to Maintain Battery Health

First: Thanks for your efforts to guide us in charging-habbits, AAKEE! My M3RWD LR 2019 say that I have 71 kW in the battery today after 76 000 km and close to 5 year. Calculation done like this: 192 x 296/80 = 71kWh > (77,8-71)/77,8 = 8,7% degradation. Is this normal? The first 3 years I...

    Home-charging

Hi! What do you think about home-charging? 1. What is the best current acording to lifetime/degradation of the battery? 12, 16, 20, 24 or 32 ampere. (2,5-7,4 kW) 2. What influence have the temperature in tje battery to the result? Can low ampere (under 32 degrees) give extra degradation to the...

Scheduled battery preheating vs. battery degradation

You have good answers, Åke! I am happy to read your thoughts about battery and charging for Model 3/Tesla.

Scheduled battery preheating vs. battery degradation

Thanks for answer, Åke! But the SC will use higher effect when the battery is warmed up by the preconditioning, right? May be it will be the same result for battery life? But Tesla want to show that it takes shorter time to charge therefore they use higher effect. Time is what mostly user is...

Scheduled battery preheating vs. battery degradation

OK, but what do you think about precondition before supercharging? is It better to shut It off if you are not in a hurry? Could It be better for the battery to charge at lower speed? I search for Superchargers with the lowest effekt bequase I think this is better for the battery life.

    To precondition or not?

Preheating battery Model 3 RWD. When you select a supercharger and drive towards it, preheating of the battery starts. As I understand it, this is done to get faster charging. But I think it is not good for the battery with high power (when one is not in a hurry). Could it be better not to...

How much energy to preheat battery and car from 20F?

Hi! I think there is noe moment to add: Preheating of the battery is important to battery health. The battery will last longer if you preheat in cold conditions.

Range Loss Over Time, What Can Be Expected, Efficiency, How to Maintain Battery Health

    1. TMThree: Are you the creator of the graph? 2. Yes, not good to drive at 20% SOC. But Your graph says that lower SOC have some advantages.

Hi TMThree! I think you are spot on! Where did you found the curve? Sems like it is better to stay at 20% than 70%?
