Tesla Insurance on Model X in NY

Adirondack has been great so far!

    Trip Planning

ABRP is great. It gives you a decent understanding of battery usage, where your Superchargers are, and allows you to play with variables (passengers, luggage weight, temperature, wind, elevation changes). Once I've planned out a route I'm happy with, I'll tend to build it into my Tesla nav...

App that Works with Tesla Trip Planning

Plenty of hotels have an onsite charger these days, Plugshare is your friend to find these. You'll need the J1772 adapter, and sometimes a Chargepoint card - but they are still mostly free and you wake up with a full battery in the morning. Generally, the I-95 drive is a sea of mediocre fast...

Model X falcon door hitting everything

Anyone else’s FWD freak out when you try to open front and FWD at the same time?

Trouble sleeping at “private” destination chargers?

This has actually recently happened to me. I check in to an otherwise ordinary Marriott in a small town, and find a J-1772 charger in the parking lot. Charger has an alarm-type keypad on it, and a big sign directing you to the front desk for the code. So I ask for the code (after checking in...

Trouble sleeping at “private” destination chargers?

Dude, either pay $150 for the room like the rest of us or use a Supercharger. Free electrons are great, but what you’re doing is stealing something that does not belong to you, and is provided as an amenity for paying hotel guests. This is no different than if you snuck into the hotel lobby in...

    Leather wrap for yoke

My yoke is peeling and it’s starting to annoy me. There are plenty of posts about the problem and the possibility of getting it replaced under warranty. I never liked the material anyway, so seems silly to just replace it with the same sandpaper vinyl. Has anyone found a place that makes...

    2023 Model X

Turns out you get pretty used to the phone key. As a result I also downsized my key ring, and still manage to forget it pretty often! I only ever take the fob when I know I‘m going to valet park the car. But even then every valet knows how to manage the card. Unless you have some really good...

    2023 Model X

Tesla sells them online - currently for $175 a pop which is annoying because I got 2 included with my MX just 6 months ago. I recommend buying one of the aftermarket rubber cases for them which makes it harder for the buttons to accidentally press in your pocket. Some of the aftermarket online...

Scratched my new X front rim :(

MX is pretty wide - the placement of the wheels takes a bit of getting used to. The sensors are your friends and if you listen to them you will not have a problem. I too curbed my wheels while being stupid. Found a great local guy reviewed on a TMC forum, met him in the back of a sketchy car...

Tesla Partnership with Buc-ee's (26 New Locations)

Buc-ees stops are the highlight of any roadtrip…but it’d be hard to get out of there in 30 minutes. Your car will be ready long before you are. It’s a huge store and there’s too much to see / eat / buy. They are going to need a massive number of stalls, and need to think about idle fees here...

Refreshed 2021/2022 Model X Owners Thread

I’m getting this also, but ONLY for the first drive of the day — like it’s still warming up or something. After the first mile or two it’s gone. Only “flaw” in 3 months / 3k miles is a loud creak in the driver‘s seat — happens whenever I take my foot off the accelerator and regen kicks in. If...

Model X as a daily driver?

Driving a MX daily for 2 months and I am an excited kid with a new toy every time I get into the drivers’ seat. Works great for 1, 2 or 4 people. 6 is tight for long stretches but doable. I miss armrests and keep confusing the horn/wiper buttons, but it’s still an amazing car.

    Long Island Curb Rash Repair

This guy does amazing work. Paul completely fixed some baaad curb rash - my wheels actually look better than new. Tesla wheels apparently have a crappy coating, which helps keep him in business. He also mentioned that he’s gotten a lot more Teslas since the OP 3 years ago. Definitely...
