Home charging has become more expensive than Supercharging at night. Should I still charge at home?

Thanks for pointing out the cost of pre conditioning the battery. Fortunately for me I live in a warm climate and I park my car in a garage. But it is still a factor to consider if my only objective is to minimize cost. Tesla never mentions anything to the customers that lower state of charge...

Home charging has become more expensive than Supercharging at night. Should I still charge at home?

Thank you for pointing that out. Given how close the station is to my home, it seems like I will need to enter the supercharging address in navigation and wait 30 minutes in the garage before actually driving it. I will see if I can just leave the door open and get back to the house during that...

Home charging has become more expensive than Supercharging at night. Should I still charge at home?

Thanks so much everyone. Big shoutout to @AAKEE for the detailed answer. I will remember to pre condition the battery before the occasional Supercharging.

Home charging has become more expensive than Supercharging at night. Should I still charge at home?

I probably didn’t phrase the question properly. It is supposed to be about Supercharing’s impact to battery. I was hoping to hear opinions from those who study batteries like @AAKEE. But thanks for those who replied and tried to help.

Home charging has become more expensive than Supercharging at night. Should I still charge at home?

Yes. Even on EV plan the cheapest I get is close to that. Which means I understated my savings at Supercharging. It is close to double that, it costs 24 cents per kWh after 11pm.

Home charging has become more expensive than Supercharging at night. Should I still charge at home?

I never said charging is free at work. Just it is the cheapest option for me by far. Still, the question remains about the impact of Supercharging to battery health. I mean, financially I don’t really have to care about battery degradation either, but I still follow the low SOC strategy. So...

Home charging has become more expensive than Supercharging at night. Should I still charge at home?

The electricity rate has increased so much that even off peak unit rate is higher than Superchargers, and I live very near a Supercharging station (about 1.3 miles). It would save me about 5 cents a kWh to use it for charging. I mostly charge in the office using an level 2 charger, but...

What battery cells are in the 2023 M3 LR?

I am a 2023 M3 LR owner, and my car (built in August 2023) is reporting 233Whr/mi lifetime since I took delivery late August. With a 78.8kWhr battery, that would translate to ~338 mile range in real life and it is very close to the EPA rated range, and obviously Tesla never lets a car to go too...

What battery cells are in the 2023 M3 LR?

I have been following the low SOC strategy that you recommend btw.

What battery cells are in the 2023 M3 LR?

Yes I am one (M3 LR built in August 2023) and yes I did see 333mi on my car when it was at 100%. Haven’t charged to 100% recently but Recurrent thinks my car’s range is 332 and that also matches the calculated range from my usually 50% battery level. For example, right now at 27% the car thinks...

How is my LFP battery holding up after 2 years?

That is 5.2% in almost two years, which I think is quite good?

How is my LFP battery holding up after 2 years?

Thanks. Right now it displays the advertised 333mi range next to the battery icon when it is 100%.

How is my LFP battery holding up after 2 years?

I am a relatively new Tesla owner (took delivery just over 6 weeks ago). Are you saying that when the battery has some degradation, the car’s range as displayed next to the battery icon will be lower while the percentage is at 100%?

Discussion: Model 3 Price reductions - Jan / April / Oct 2023 and all other pricing discussions

The only interesting observation for me is that during the past quarter, within 200 miles of my home, the best price of the existing inventory was available in mid to late August, not September. So if you are trying to take advantage of inventory discount, keep checking

Discussion: Model 3 Price reductions - Jan / April / Oct 2023 and all other pricing discussions

They completely removed the inventory discount after this price change. At some point, they would bring it back, but I am not sure if the same 10% off would be offered. Selfishly I am hoping that my $42520 price for LR AWD would remain the best price available in my area until project Highland...
