    Tax credit ≠ subsidy

I see the tax credit is simply an incentive to go with a newer technology that may need a push for some people to jump into. Of coarse you need to have an income and pay taxes to take advantage of it or it doesn't do you much good. I don't think the credit is the only reason 500,000 placed...

New Motor Trend articles on Model 3

I noticed MotorTrend estimates the length to be 184.1"- that was some new information I didn't know before and not surprised about. I was figuring about 182" last month.

Lease ending before Model 3 arrives, what to do?

I would buy out the lease instead of extending the lease. When you extend the lease, you get no breaks and pay the same high lease payment like the day it was new. Naturally Nissan would love it if you did extend the lease. I recently paid $8500 for our 2013 Leaf with 29k miles on it- out the...

    Model 3 Potential: Police Cars?

I could see community service vehicles being electric now, but those vehicles tend to be vans and something not available yet. Besides size, police cruisers have high demands for 'heavy duty' parts: cooling, suspension, brakes, etc. I don't see Tesla or aftermarket vendors investing in this...

    Cloth seats?

We have a Nissan Leaf with a cloth interior and it's great! I have had leather for so long that it seemed like a bit of a downgrade at first; however, the Leaf even has seat heaters in which seems unusual for cloth interiors of my past. With cloth, you really wouldn't need cooled seats in the...

    Credit card fraud on preorder?

Exactly- I would suspect Amazon more than Tesla. I have had a couple of frauds on my AMEX card and that number was used at Amazon and occurred long before 3/31/16 when I used the card for the M3 reservation. I have had about 4 defrauded card numbers in 4 four years so it's not a rare event for me.

What will Smart Air Suspension cost on Model 3?

I don't understand the need for all the polls on the options and what their cost will be. We don't even know the length of the car, so how will we as a forum project the cost of options? Our opinion doesn't make a big impact on what Tesla's costs are anyway. With that said, I think taking the...

    Model 3 Steer Wheel

That wheel rim is hefty- probably double the thickness of my Acura steering wheel. It kind of reminds me of a 16" bicycle intertube that's partially inflated. The photo is too dark to see the bottom details of the central region. It reminds me of the old 911 steering wheels a little. It is...

Motor Trend live at Gigafactory with Model 3 today!

The motor trend guys really didn't know much. We all heard the base model will be under 6 seconds a couple weeks ago. The AWD variant is not base and will be much quicker. That's when I lost my confidence in their reporting abilities. They seemed to be very interested in the door handles...

Petition to increase the EV tax credit cap

The tax break was designed to entice manufactures to develop electric cars which is an expensive endeavor to begin and make a profitable car. I have problems extending the 200k limit to companies like Tesla which are 100% on board with making these cars. The U.S. government can't afford this...

Model 3 spotted in the wild!

I tried to guestimate the length of the M3 compared to the the length of the motorcycle by stopping the frame with the police escort near front bumper.- it would have been great if the bike came on the drivers side so I had to guess were the bike ended behind the car. It seems like the M3 is...

Model 3 120V charging, will it be more common?

Regarding Point #2: how confident are you that the 9 miles per hour charging will be reality? If it's not, then there are lots of people who commute 40 miles to work and they might even take their car to lunch so that could reduce charging time by an hour. The other point is that maybe...

Model 3 120V charging, will it be more common?

Just saw the additional info now- so the 110V would be sort of a trickle charge idea for keeping the energy grid healthy? It would not solve the other problem about having a real charging solution for anybody with a long daily commute.

Model 3 120V charging, will it be more common?

^ I agree- I was wondering initially what this was all about and am still lost on the battery storage concept. I guess the charging concept is that the current 110V charge is slow at 4.5 miles added per charge hour. So a 12 hour charge results in about 54 miles of range being added to the...

How will you pay for your new model 3?

I would advise against buying SUNE if you have any hopes of paying cash for a M3. I believe they are declaring bankruptcy soon. You would be better off buying VRX which I also wouldn't recommend because of its situation either. There are much better choices out there. Reminds me of a phone...
