Synthetic leather like the seats

I'm in SoCal and was looking for someone to do this exact swap. 2020 Model 3 black interior here.

It would very hard to spot the opener when they are stuck on the bottom back of the screen. You cannot see it unless you knew where to look. We aren't talking like it's clipped on the visor here.

Who said you have to use your phone. I double-sided taped my controller to the back of the screen. The linked solution you provided looks like a fire hazard haha

Just get a new garage opener that works via WiFi like the newer Chamberlains. They're quieter, smoother, and have a dedicated app that is pretty easy to use and setup.

Funny, I swapped out the wood for the white plastic and that's when it started to rattle ☹️. I'm sure you're right and it's some of those flimsy clips that may not be holding tight. The headliner rattle came after I had the roof glass replaced due to a rock hit. Ugh..

What are some of the common rattle points? I hear stuff but it's hard to pinpoint. I have one that sounds like it's on the driverside dash but when I out my hand there it doesn't quiet it. Same with another rattle that's behind/above my head coming from the headliner.

Like I said, it's because the way they behave is not typical of how autodimming mirrors act like on European cars, where it is seamless and convenient. But I guess if you're coming from cars that didn't have the feature then you wouldn't be able to appreciate them since they don't work right on...

Oh they're appreciated. This is a standard feature on mid range European brands like BMW/MBZ/Audi so for many of us converts (bc who wasn't a convert from another brand), removal of a basic feature like this just cheapens the brand. Maybe if they had programmed the mirrors to dim properly or...

It's a nice magnet. Mine has sat on the trunk lid for the past 6 months outside and it doesn't show any signs of major fading or wear

I honestly don't think it matters how you lick and stick em. I actually put one on the the rear quarter window and the other on the rear glass. Screw dealing with peeling that stuff off. Its clearly visible.
