I'm in SoCal and was looking for someone to do this exact swap. 2020 Model 3 black interior here.

It would very hard to spot the opener when they are stuck on the bottom back of the screen. You cannot see it unless you knew where to look. We aren't talking like it's clipped on the visor here.

Who said you have to use your phone. I double-sided taped my controller to the back of the screen. The linked solution you provided looks like a fire hazard haha

Just get a new garage opener that works via WiFi like the newer Chamberlains. They're quieter, smoother, and have a dedicated app that is pretty easy to use and setup.

Funny, I swapped out the wood for the white plastic and that's when it started to rattle ☹️. I'm sure you're right and it's some of those flimsy clips that may not be holding tight. The headliner rattle came after I had the roof glass replaced due to a rock hit. Ugh..

What are some of the common rattle points? I hear stuff but it's hard to pinpoint. I have one that sounds like it's on the driverside dash but when I out my hand there it doesn't quiet it. Same with another rattle that's behind/above my head coming from the headliner.

I honestly don't think it matters how you lick and stick em. I actually put one on the the rear quarter window and the other on the rear glass. Screw dealing with peeling that stuff off. Its clearly visible.

I was waiting for you to floor it? On the old school BMW M cars we call it a German tune up when you redline it and blow out all the carbon deposits. I still give all my Ms these tune ups at least once a week haha

If you have PPF, make sure you wipe off those bugs sooner than later. Their guts can stain or etch the PPF if you let it sit and bake on there too long. This goes for bird poop too.

Guys, I may have found the culprit to the noise. The center roof section panel was not fully clipped in place on my car. I pushed up on it and heard a loud clicking sound like something seating into place. I took a couple drives after I did this and no longer heard the ticking noise over bumps...

I was in Utah a few weeks ago and it was 9F and the roof did not creak or tick, so if anyone has a temp dependent tick, something must not have been installed correctly. Tesla needs to remedy. The ride is very quiet and a tick above your head is super annoying.

The ticking sound comes from the rear seam of the front glass and is apparent when the chassis is being flexed or torqued like in a turn or onramp or off ramp of a fwy. I feel like they need to reinstall the panel bc it didn't seal correctly. Going to wash the car to see if it leaks.

This is why I wanted a stealth. I have 2 other cars with 19s and 20s and I really don't see the Model 3 as a sports car though it will smoke the daylights out of my BMW M3s hahah. Its a great snow and roadtripping car tho!

I wouldn't discount the sound processing as it does make a difference. I like that is subtle but enhances the listening experience. They should allow people to purchase the software upgrade for that. Not sure how much that tweeter makes a difference but I bet its also pretty subtle but works...

Mine dim too much especially with the windows tinted. I'd love to see manual controls added or some limits we can definite on how dark and when it turns on/off.

Thanks to whoever suggested taping the garage remote to the back of the screen. This works really well and feels similar to BMWs placement of the HomeLink buttons under the mirror. I centered the remote to the back of the screen under the mounting arm so it's Hidden from view yet easy to find...

I'm not sure what motor I got but the VIN crosswalks to the Performance with 18s which is listed as an official model with the EPA, etc. It also has the highest rated range due to not having the heavier 20s. Bigger isn't always better haha

Yeah, I have a 2020 LR AWD Performance. It makes my family dizzy and people to reach for the "Oh Sh*t bar" only to find none hahah

Doug isn't wrong. My 50k TM3 Stealth makes my 85k BMW M3 feel slow and not quite as fun in the acceleration dept. Just ignore the panel gaps and 90s Hyundai fit and finish and its a better car than the BMW haha :)

Agreed, of all the things they took away, I think this one is the most annoying b/c all new luxury cars come with Homelink standard now. I don't care about the frunk hooks or mat, or leds in the door pockets as they are marginally useful. But who the heck doesn't use a garage door opener these...
