So my iphone updated last night to ios 17.1.2 and my phone connection to the car is broken again. This is so aggravating.

I don't know what to tell you man, but it has been hell ever since I did it yesterday late afternoon. The connection between the car and my iPhone got severed. So, at least for me, I am never doing this again.
