I have a 2020 Model 3 Performance. I have been running on 18 inch wheels with 255/40 tires. I have been forced to switch (damn nail in the shoulder of the tire) to the stock wheels and tires (235/35/20 with only 500 miles on them).
On the 18 inch wheels, the car averaged about 285-290 miles per charge based on my hand calculations. For example:
* Charge to 90%
* Drove 126 miles and consumed 46% battery
* Projected 134 (44% SoC) miles left on the consumption screen based on similar driving
* 29 miles for the 10% to get to 100%
* Total range 289 miles @ 100%
* TeslaFi range @ 100%=292 miles
The 285-290 mile range was very close to what TeslaFi or the Stats app gave me.
After I swapped to the stock 20 inch wheels and tires the TeslaFi/Stats range at 100% dropped to 273-271 miles. But, my hand calculated range did NOT change. I am still getting ~290 miles of range. Here is my latest example with the 20 inch stock wheels/tires
*Charge to 90%
*Drove 115 miles and consumed 41% of the battery
*Projected 146 miles (49% SoC) left on the consumption screen
*29 miles for the 10% to get to 100%
*Total range 290 miles @ 100%
* TeslaFi range 271 miles
Can anyone please explain why I am seeing such a discrepancy between what TeslFi/Stats are saying and the actual driving/projected number on the 20 inch wheels/tires?
