I have tested my gen 2 with the dip switch set to legacy and the Volvo just gives the error. I spoke to Tesla support about it and they confirmed that the early gen 2 units that shipped with the model S and X supported legacy mode, but the model 3 supplied units were locked.

Yes, that's the option that I was referring to in my original post. He doesn't actually test it though.

We just became a two EV household, with a Model 3 and a new Volvo XC40 Recharge. Unfortunately the Gen 2 wall connector that came with the Model 3 doesn't support non Tesla vehicles so I need to replace it with something that does. My options appear to be to upgrade to the Gen 3 wall connector...

I got TeslaMate up and running a month or so ago but after a while it started spewing timeout issues and stopped working. I attempted to look at the code to trace the issue but didn't feel like learning another language so I just turned the docker containers off and will look at it again another...

It uses the standard rolling code algorithms as a Chamberlain, Merlin, B&D or other HomeLink compatible receiver. So not as secure as say an ATA TriCode128 controller, but not easy to spoof either.

I am using one of these with my non homelink roller door. Ditec Receiver You can find exactly the same receiver a lot cheaper on eBay out of China, but I wanted it quickly.

That’s not profit margin you see, that’s them under reporting the actual value to avoid customs charges on the receiving end.

Where did you connect the 12V power? Does it start working again after you wake up the car? How did you secure it to the bumper and have you checked if it is still held in place?

Apple already have USB-C to lightning cables, they just don’t come in the box. You can always pick up a couple of USB-C to type a adaptors, or alternatively a couple of USB-C to micro USB cables for your controllers. With everything moving from type a to USB-C these day they won’t go to waste.

Err.. yes, I meant to say LHD. I always have a few USB-C cables with my MacBook Pro, so if I have my laptop bag in the car and I want to charge my watch, headphones, power bank, etc I can plug the USB-C cables directly into the hub without needing to find an adaptor. They don’t do USB-C power...

The API is neither open nor documented. It has been reverse engineered by smart people and unofficially documented. Tesla hasn’t stopped third parties from using it, but it doesn’t mean they won’t in future if it presents a problem to their future plans
