    Model S Software/Firmware Updates

I have a similar situation and was told that the car will download the update in the background while you're out driving around. I have poor signal in my garage and have received one update so far.

    Time from Standard to Range

14-50, just under an hour. Supercharger no idea, but my understanding is the it tapers off as the battery reaches full charge, so it may not be much faster.

    Not installing 240V at home

You pay for KWh, not amp-hours, so I don't see how charging at 240V would save you any money, unless you have TOU rates and can move more of your charge time off-peak. That said, I agree that there's nothing like the freedom of never having to stop to charge. I would consider the 120V...

    Performance vs non-performance 85Kw

I have the non-perf and you will not be disappointed. And I disagree that the acceleration loses its novelty after a few weeks.

    Audio: Sound System Quality?

I listen to AM radio a good amount and have had absolutely no issues with interference.

    Audio: Sound System Quality?

I'm not assuming anything. That's how the equalizer appears to work. If you raise or lower all three bands to the same level, it appears to behave like a volume control with no change to the frequency response. Also, I'm not one to crank the bass or treble. I prefer a perfectly flat...

    Audio: Sound System Quality?

Here's something new to try. Put all the tone controls at +12dB. You heard me, put them all at the top. (Turn the volume down to compensate of course). I think it sounds better. It shouldn't, but it does. Maybe some math issues in the equalizer are truncating bits at normal settings. Or...

    Audio: Sound System Quality?

Did some more experimenting - my educated guess is that bluetooth streaming only supports the SBC codec. I think this would account for the artifacts I'm hearing. I will get a USB key and see if that sounds better.

    Hurricane Sandy: delivery impacts?

They would have eventually caught fire on their own anyway. Sorry, that was a cheap shot.

I believe the service manager mentioned something to that effect.

What tires are on your car?

Mine came with the Continentals also.

    Performance vs. Non-Performance & an extra $10K

After nearly 2 weeks of driving a non-Performance Model S, I can't imagine needing more performance than I have now. This thing isn't lacking for power. It jumps off the line and zips in and out of traffic effortlessly.

    Wiki Model S Delivery Update

My experience is that the Model S gets better range driving on the freeway than start/stop traffic in town. Back on topic: I was just at the Costa Mesa service center dealing with a minor issue and there were 15 or so cars being prepped for delivery.

Audio: XM Satellite Radio reception in Model S

I agree, XM quality is pretty lousy. Not just in the Tesla but in other cars also. It's fine if you just want to have some music on in the background or listen to news. If I really want to listen to music I stream from my phone. I'm also becoming a fan of Slacker in the car. Much better...
