Supercharger - Mountain Village, CO - Mountain Village Blvd

Foreigners can rent cars in China, it's just that China doesn't recognise foreign driver's licenses. You have to first get a Chinese license: apparently it's possible to apply for a 90-day "provisional driving permit" upon presentation of your foreign license, without having to do any kind of...

New BP gas station chargers are coming

A key factor in the longer term (once sites expand to multiple high-speed chargers) is proximity to sufficient capacity on the electricity distribution network. This won't be the case at every well-located service station!

Model Y order page is live

The same motor will surely have a slower acceleration time with an LFP pack compared to a standard range NMC pack, because the LFP pack adds around 120kg. Unless Tesla have juiced it in software to even them out.

Supercharger - Mountain Village, CO - Mountain Village Blvd

Not even close as it turns out! Mountain Village is about 9,545 ft. There are multiple supercharger locations in China over 10,000 ft, with the highest being the "Baiba, Tingri – Roof of the World Hotel" supercharger at 14,232 ft (!!) in the Tibet Autonomous Region.

    Aotearoa charging options

The 15A heavy duty socket will give you 12A when charging due to the 80% rule. Just like the 10A socket gives you 8A. The 16A IEC 60309 blue plug ("caravan"/"commando" plug) will give you the full 16A as it is rated for continuous loads. 32A (7 kW single phase or 22 kW 3-phase) is the...

    Autopilot in New Zealand

It really doesn't like parked cars where there is no lane marker between the driving lane and the parked cars. Seems to think they're stopped in your lane and will phantom brake - sometimes quite violently! It's similarly skittish about pedestrians and cyclists. Similar behaviour whether on...

    UMC: 16A Blue caravan plug?

My Dad recently took delivery of a new Model X, but all his UMC came with was the standard NZ/Aus 10A and unusual 15A plug adapters. I was under the impression that Tesla provided a UMC plug for 16A caravan (IEC 60309) sockets with New Zealand deliveries. Did anyone get a 16A plug recently, or...

    Supercharger - Wellington

Johnsonville is ideal for access from SH1. For someone travelling to/from the ferries, or who's destination is elsewhere in Wellington, the CBD can be quite a detour - especially if there is traffic!

    Mustang E

Remember that Tesla's newest superchargers are 250 kW, and actually achieves that speed. So, practically speaking it is just as good as 350 kW CCS chargers which don't actually get to 350 kW in practice. But I agree that eventually charging will become commoditised, and the benefit to Tesla of...

VW ID.3 Prices released for Ireland, SHOCKING!!!!!

According to VW CEO Herbert Diess, speaking to German broadcaster ZDF in 2018: "We will come in 2020 with vehicles that can do anything like Tesla and are cheaper by half.”

How many Tesla's in New Zealand

The 40 kWh and earlier aren't a great fit for NZ infrastructure as we don't have a lot of 22/44 kW AC chargers. That will change with the 52 kWh model, however, now that it has CCS.

    Christchurch Service Center now open?

Anyone have experience with the mobile ranger service in the South Island yet? I wonder how often they plan to get out to Queenstown, Dunedin, etc?

    Superchargers in New Zealand

Has anyone noticed that Tesla's online trip planner ("Explore a route") does not work properly in the South Island? It seems to not be able to use the Christchurch Supercharger when planning routes, meaning that lots of journeys that should be possible by going via Christchurch aren't shown...
