False Positive Automatic Emergency Braking at 80mph

My advice is report the incident to the NHTSA. We sold our Tesla M3 because TACC was dangerous after owning it for 17 months. Initially phantom braking was a regular occurrence then it improved a bit but with “ vision only” it got much worse. Our diesel Civic has ACC and does none of the scary...

    Unhappy with phantom braking

You mean like Microsoft, their software crashes all the time too.

    Phantom Brake Crash?

We sold our model 3 because of phantom braking and bought a Honda Civic which has ACC, blindspot detection and lane assist. The Honda works perfectly all of the time. No scaring my wife witless it just works. I have no doubt other manufacturers also have working ACC too but sadly Tesla’s TACC is...

    Unhappy with phantom braking

I guess it is more about engineering and sales. Honda is an engineering company and Tesla appears to be sales orientated. Unfortunately the hype surrounding self driving turns out to be just that.

    Unhappy with phantom braking

Yes I could but imagine driving a Honda that just works anywhere when using adaptive cruise control.

Phantom braking when a car is following you.

We sold our M3 SR+ in November because of phantom braking. We bought a Honda Civic and it has ACC which works perfectly.

TACC is dangerous ACC in the Honda works

    Unhappy with phantom braking

We got rid of our model 3SR+ because TACC was too unreliable to use. We had too many phantom braking incidents which only got worse when vision only came in. It is a shame as we really liked the car. The replacement car, a diesel Honda Civic has ACC that works perfectly on minor roads, in town...

    Unhappy with phantom braking

We went on a 1200 mile journey recently in our June 2021 M3 SR+ mostly on dual carriageways in Scotland and motorways in England. I have to say the car was much better on the motorways, it had a few hesitations but nothing serious. On dual carriageways it still gets confused by vehicles at...

My first 4500miles in our Model 3

We live in Scotland. We traded in our Jaguar XJ for a Model 3 in June. Since then we have driven 4500 miles. We have done 3 trips of over 1000 miles. Things we like: The Tesla charging network in the U.K. is excellent although some stations on the busier motorways are becoming full and you may...

    Unhappy with phantom braking

We have a 2021 M3 with 4200 miles. Stopped using TACC as it is too tedious due to dangerous braking. Reported the issue to the DVSA in the UK and they are monitoring the situation and talking to the NHTSA. Suggest you report the issue to your regulatory body which is the NHTSA in the USA. Tesla...

The Cancer that is Phantom Braking

That would be good but it would be a hell of a climb down for Tesla. I vote for standard cruise now please.

The Cancer that is Phantom Braking

If you have safety concerns about TACC or AP report your concerns to the regulator in your country, that is the DVSA in the UK https://forms.dvsa.gov.uk/Vsdr/create the form is very easy to use and quick to fill in. I have asked the DVSA to investigate hard braking by TACC after a near serious...

    Cruise Control

TACC is not fit for purpose currently. We have a 2021 M3 with about 3000 miles on the clock. On minor roads the cruise control will experience many "phantom braking" events. Even on the UK's best motorways large vehicles changing lanes will cause the Tesla to brake for no reason. My advice is...
