Help with Powerwall just fitted (stuck at 100% and not discharging to power the house) UK

We're E/W, even split with 10.1 kwp. It theoretically gives 80% ish of a south facing array of the same size. We generated 8.2 mwh last year and already doing over 30 kwh even on average days so far in April. We have good battery storage and pretty much break even on power costs over the year...

    Thinking of selling

Some nice work there. Fortunately we were able to lower their mortgages to just a few hundred each month, so even if they lost jobs, nothing too catastrophic would happen. At least that's the plan. Totally understood about minimising loans, rental payments, mortgages etc - it was bad enough back...

    Thinking of selling

Facinating thread, thanks for sharing. I'm particularly interested in the retirement tales as I'd planned to retire at 58 (latest) but now just turned 60 I'm still here alongside the wife running the business, less frantically than say 7 or 8 years ago but still fairly deeply involved...

    Renew your EV Road Tax

Thanks for the that. Looks like the good days are over. So much for EV incentives. Meanwhile the charging networks also continue to fleece us. Predictable i guess.

    Renew your EV Road Tax

Quick sense check please. I renewed late January - so I can renew free next January and then again before end March 2025 (assuming the loophole isn't closed)? Should I forget the re-renewal back end of March next year, looks like I'd be about £30 out-of-pocket? Whilst I'm here could some kind...

    Reliable non-Tesla granny charger needed

He's gone for the 10m Masterplug. He found a review from an electrical engineer on one of the other EV forums which rates it. Also the speed at which he could get it (arrived already) and the convenience of the 10m cable. I advised the Tesla unit plus a Tough Leads cable but either way, I think...

Solar Panels UK - is it worth it?

Just under 4p per unit I reckon. Currently 4.1p here but often under 4p. That's probably jinxed it! However, warmer weather on the horizon. So yes, for the 6 months or so we've been on it, a lot cheaper. One thing to note is that you can switch away without penalty i believe but they don't let...

    Reliable non-Tesla granny charger needed

Thanks, there's a depot close by so that could also be a good option as he needs to act sharpish.

    Reliable non-Tesla granny charger needed

May be an option, thanks for that. The 5m plus a Tough Leads extension would do it.

    Reliable non-Tesla granny charger needed

Ok, thanks for that, we'll take a look.

    Reliable non-Tesla granny charger needed

My son just purchased a Megane E-Tech (very nice car!) and is waiting for the DNO to sort his electrical supply before having a Zappi installed. In the interim he bought a granny charger from Amazon for around £150 which has just failed after 4 weeks of use! Most of the third-party chargers I...

Solar Panels UK - is it worth it?

We run 5 A2A units with 2 external heat pumps. They cover us easily for all but the coldest days in Dec/Jan when the COP falls away and we run the gas boiler for a few hours instead. That's a cost consideration as gas on Octopus tracker has been very cheap and just beats the ASHP when it starts...

    [UK] 2023.44

That's precisely why I didn't "invest" in FSD on one of the early 2019 Model 3s. Having worked in instrumentation in an earlier life I knew that if the primary measuring equipment was dodgy or easily compromised, then whatever software you had behind the scenes wouldn't make much difference. My...

Creaking tailgate - mobile technician visit

I was at Notts SC on Friday to have the pads replaced on an MYP due to "clicking" on braking - pads were moving slightly but the new set fixed it. At the same time they proactively adjusted the tailgate bump stops and lubricated the seals to resolve the issue reported above - albeit I hadn't...

    So… Highland is out…

A lot of it is what you're used to I guess. However we switched the office to Apple from Android on the last 'phone updates a couple of years back - all but two of them want their Android back. I'll need to find out why at some point I suppose. But then I still use the Blackberry hub overlay on...
