Model Y vs Nissan Leaf efficiency

You might be right, Everytime I charge the Tesla, it might be using more power to manage the charging compared to the leaf. If that's the case then maybe I shouldn't be charging everyday unless I dip below 30%....

Model Y vs Nissan Leaf efficiency

Why is it a bad comparison this way?

Model Y vs Nissan Leaf efficiency

    1) I charged my Tesla to 80%. 2) Drove my Tesla around on the city for a couple days. 3) Looked at the odometer of miles driven since last charge 4) charged model y back to 80% and recorded the number of Kwh injected from my wall charger. 5) divided Kwh from charger by miles actually driven.

Model Y vs Nissan Leaf efficiency

I own a model Y standard range and a 2015 Nissan leaf. I ran an efficiency test between the two where I measured energy going in and how many miles I got out in city driving, where there's an 80% chance of stopping at a red light on every block. The temperature outside was about 80 degrees...

    Charging etiquette

If you arrive at one open charger in the only designated EV stall but there is another EV car parked in a regular stall with their charging port open (no one inside) Is there such thing as a EV waiting line in this case?

charging, how often do you plug in at home?

If you plug it in all the time, how do you know what to set the maximum charge level? Is it 80%? If the battery drops to 70%, is that not good for the battery? I know that 10% is bad, but should I be plugging it in at 70% or wait until it gets to 50% before plugging in? I don't drive very...

    Dashboard wrap

Has anyone tried using a body wrap on the dashboard? Not referring to the wood or white trims but the black dashboard. I'm thinking of wrapping it white but concerned if it will stick and if white would be too distracting in the sunlight. Thoughts?

    Actual rated wh/mi

Thanks, do I need to drop it from 95% to 25% within a couple days or can it be done over a week or two to be effective? It's not as easy for me to run it down that much unless I take it around the island.

    Actual rated wh/mi

All that battery cooling from short drives makes sense why I'm losing range. I own a leaf as well, which seems to do better in the city. They don't cool the batteries tho, I guess this is a trade-off between losing range vs battery degradation. Do you know how accurate the Tesla is able...

    Actual rated wh/mi

That's good info. I've been obsessing over my efficiency since I got the Model Y standard range. It should have been more miles than I needed because I do mostly city driving but for some reason my efficiency is so much worse than highway driving. I thought the opposite supposed to be true...

EPA mileage not matching energy screen

Yeah, you're right to ingore it. I did some more digging and that 260 wH/mi from EPA includes charging losses. So my actual target efficiency is 220wH/mi as shown on the energy screen by the solid grey line. That means if I drive around 220wH/mi then I should be able to attain the stated...

    Actual rated wh/mi

I think I have your answer, I was just wondering the same thing on my vehicle. The EPA stated 280 wH/mi INCLUDES charging losses. The real EPA wH/mi target while driving is about 40 wH/mi less. So your solid grey line should be around 240 wH/mi and that should be your target efficiency if you...

EPA mileage not matching energy screen

Thanks for checking. How did you confirm you have a 100 kWh battery by the way? For me, my sticker shows 260 wH/mi, 244 mi range but no battery size. (I had to look at EPA test reports to find that I have a 63kWh battery) When I search for your vehicle online, it shows that your EPA should...

EPA mileage not matching energy screen

Thanks I have factored those in, but my concern is not on how to become more efficient, but rather why my car's reported rated EPA wH/mi does not match what's on the EPA sticker. Do you still have your EPA sticker and could you confirm if the wH/mi matches the solid grey line in your energy...

EPA mileage not matching energy screen

I think there's a misunderstanding. I know that if I drive typically, I won't get EPA's stated wH/mi nor EPA's range because those are based on ideal conditions. BUT, if I managed to drive in ideal conditions (downhill, no AC, no load, etc.) AND achieved EPA's wH/mi then I should also achieve...
