Lee Taylor, lifelong aviation enthusiast and highly interested in cars like the Tesla. As far as I am concerned, that is the obvious area to totally eliminate our oil dependency.
I have also recently started flying electric radio-control airplanes, a resurgence of my early aviation interests.
the new electric ducted fan models are INCREDIBLE! Getting lots of input from them, aiming to build a full-size ducted fan shortly. Unfortunately, it will have to be gas---batteries still haven't made it into higy-performance planes YET. I do expect they will.
As I said, I am a lifelong pilot and flight instructor. Several other areas of aviation. I was a Jet fighter Crew Chief in the Air Force, afterwards I spent 22 months working for the US Army as a tech rep on their helicopters. Based on Bearcat Firebase, I was the only civilian on the entire base, my rank equivalency was a Major, Squadron Commander was a Captain! They didn't have the faintest idea what to do with me, so let me do pretty much as I pleased. That included a lot of flying, in the pilot's seat. L flew everything we had, OH-6A Loaches, UH-1H Hueys, (WONDERFUL brid!), the AH-1G Cobras, and CH-47 Chinooks. Got to fly and fire the weapons on the Cobra several times, tho only onto a firing range. Never in combat. Had my bosses ever found out what I was doing way out there, they would have shipped me home in the hole of the slowest, filthest freighter they could find!
Flow about everything, including a season with the US Foresty as an Air Attack Pilot, with the firebombers.
Was once designated for training as a relief pilot on a C-41A, which is currently owned by Jack Rickard, a Tesla Club member. I would like to talk to Jack about his bird. I loved it!

Aviation, skiing, anything electric, just about anything else.
