    Tesla tire cannot be repaired?

Stay away from large, nationwide chains like Just Tires. They seem to be establishing policies against repairing Tesla tires. I was turned away from one a few weeks ago, went to a smaller shop (a Goodyear franchise), and they plugged it in 10 minutes without even taking the tire off. I'm not...

    Ambivalence towards MY

The Achilles heel for VW isn't the drivetrain longevity (who is buying EVs right now and planning on keeping them more than 5-6 years?), it's the charging infrastructure. Range anxiety is what holds people back from EVs, which is why Tesla went after that before building a car even generously...

    Ambivalence towards MY

We own both a Model Y and a VW ID.4. Fit and finish on the VW is miles ahead of the Tesla, it's not even close. VW ride is more comfortable, quieter. Turning radius on the ID.4 smokes the MY (helpful in urban environments where parking spots are hard to come by. CarPlay on the VW is a...

    Painting Rims and Calipers

Check craigslist. I found a guy down here in LA who came out to my house and painted my calipers (and repaired one rim) for about half the cost of the cheapest shop I could find.

    Alternative to HomeLink module

It will not attempt to open an already opened garage door. It uses a sensor to determine the door’s state.

    Alternative to HomeLink module

I installed the Tailwind on top of my MyQ Liftmaster system. I wanted auto-open and MyQ doesn't offer that. Installation was a breeze, and it's working very well now.

For those on the fence with PPF

My plan is to get a vinyl wrap and change colors in five years if my paint looks as bad as OP's.

    Model Y hitch (Draw-Tite)

Wiring harness on the UHaul site is an additional $99. Unclear if this involves splicing existing wires or tapping them as some have. Towing software seems to be available only with a factory or SC installed hitch. Hadn’t heard about sensor recalibration but I believe the ones on the rear...

    Model Y hitch (Draw-Tite)

On a hunch I checked the UHaul site, and it looks like they’re installing the Draw-Tite hitch on the Model Y. Here in LA it’s about $477 all in (parts and labor). The cheapest I’ve found for an independent shop installing the EcoHitch out here is $400 labor (if anyone knows a cheaper installer...

    Model Y hitch (Draw-Tite)

That is not the factory hitch. You will be hard-pressed to find an install video of one, though I suppose there may be someone out there who had one installed by an SC who might be willing to take off their rear panel and show us what’s there. Lot of work, though.

    Model Y hitch (Draw-Tite)

In the comments for the video, the uploader says the factory installed hitch also removes the curved crash bar. Anyone have confirmation on that?

    Love my model Y but...

Telling people they don't want the things they want is probably not going to work. I was stunned when I found out the 2021 "computer on wheels" I'd purchased couldn't open my garage door when the 2013 Battlestar Odyssey I traded in had no problem with it. Same the other night when I went to...

    Tesla Rear Emblem Change

Can you rearrange the letters to say "STEAL" or "STALE"?

    Love my model Y but...

I am willing to guess grab bars are missing because they messed with the minimalist aesthetic. I'm sure Tesla considered some overly-engineered retractable ones or something, but that probably did add too much expense so they were abandoned. Chevy Bolt is half the price of a Y and has an AM...

    Love my model Y but...

Yes, which is why people in this thread are saying they should be offered as a new trim level. But some aren't a question of expense. Bird's eye view is an initial software engineering expense, after which it costs nothing to include it in every single car being made by Tesla these days. They...
