Model Y delivery yesterday - few thoughts relative to a 2017 MX P100DL

I'm in this camp as well. True that the X/S might have a bit too much screen real estate going on...the main benefits for me are: - giant map view, can still have the music interface partially expanded and there's still a great view of the map. - the center display still feels more natural for...

Model Y delivery yesterday - few thoughts relative to a 2017 MX P100DL

The 2x4 is a great tip! I'm going to use one as an extra guide rather than the cardboard box I've been relying on! Here's my paste on the Used X vs Y comparison from the standpoint of a parent and constantly hauling stuff around...again keeping in mind that this is comparing to a Feb 2017 Model...

Model Y delivery yesterday - few thoughts relative to a 2017 MX P100DL

Apologies, yes, Hold mode is the correct term/setting in the menu. You're right, it's great in tight spots. Right now I'm backing up to an inch or less of a box in the garage and can consistently position the car there with one pedal. Another feature that is probably similar across all new...

Model Y delivery yesterday - few thoughts relative to a 2017 MX P100DL

Two adults camping in the back shouldn't be an issue....at 6 feet I felt like I could be fully stretched out with a couple inches of foot room to spare. Climbing in through the hatch trunk was nice and easy. Side note, I wrote a long response to another parent who was asking about a Model Y...

Model Y delivery yesterday - few thoughts relative to a 2017 MX P100DL

Correct on all of those points! I can only compare back to my 2017 X, but totally understand and it's worth repeating that there have been so many upgrades to the X since then, particularly with the Raven platform. Would definitely not rely on STOP pulling into my garage, it's already a tight...

Model Y delivery yesterday - few thoughts relative to a 2017 MX P100DL

It feels about what I'm used to given that I usually keep the X at Low or sometimes Very Low.....when I got in (that moment when the feel of a new car hits you), I didn't think "Oh wow, this feels so low". It felt very similar to the X. Last time I got in an S, I was taken aback by how low it...

Model Y delivery yesterday - few thoughts relative to a 2017 MX P100DL

A few other notes that probably apply to M3 owners as well. Really liking the permanent magnet motors, and more specifically the STOP mode and more aggressive nature of the regen. I realize this will really come down to preference, but I immediately liked the overall feeling of this and true...

Model Y delivery yesterday - few thoughts relative to a 2017 MX P100DL

Ha! Yes, the X shows you a ton of information that you don't necessarily need. It's not so much the information design that I'm having a tougher time adjusting to, it's really the positioning. Glancing down and "through" the wheel on the X/S feels pretty natural.....the offset screen is just an...

Model Y delivery yesterday - few thoughts relative to a 2017 MX P100DL

Had a long range Model Y on order and heard that the local SC had a few Y's that had become available. The long range in Midnight Silver was claimed about an hour earlier, but there was a Performance model available in Midnight Silver so we said "Yes please!". So this is a Model Y Performance...

    AP1 vs. AP2

AP2 seems pretty aware of other vehicles around, but it only shows them on the display when you engage a turn signal. It's not really clear whether or not this is intentional and meant to keep the design cleaner, or if the multi-vehicle tracking isn't accurate enough to display full-time. Last...

Blackvue DR650S Review + Tesla Model X Install

Haven't tried it, but I would be worried that the more of the interior in frame, the less your exposure is going to be balanced for everything outside the car. Having it looking almost entirely out the window means it will be fairly balanced for everything outside. The interior is so much...

Model X AP1 is more stable than AP2?

I'm in the camp of thinking that it's really more of a software problem than a hardware problem at this point. Elecktrek.co has mentioned a few times that the sensors (cameras, radar, sonar, gps) only need to be marginally better than the human eye to drive a car as safe or safer and I agree...

Blackvue DR650S Review + Tesla Model X Install

We did an install of the DR750S in our X yesterday and used Nerdy_Engineer's video as well. The only thing we haven't done yet is run it through the ap2 housing or the rubber strip along the panoramic windshield. Still kind of hesitant to pry that stuff off, but I'm sure we'll do it at some...

Rear seat will not fold - 6 month wait for repair??

Our's had the problem with one of the rear seats being stuck in the down position. Reported it to the service center on August 4th and a replacement set of seats had arrived and was installed within 2 weeks. 6 weeks seems way to long....6 months is nuts.

How Many Considering Model X or Much Less Expensive Car?

We used to drive a 2005 Toyota Sienna which we bought used in 2008 when we traded on our 1998 RAV4....not flashy, not fancy, but we weren't "fancy car" people. Also had a Prius and that was as fancy as it got. NEVER would have thought about spending more than maybe $40k on a new vehicle. But in...
