Model Y delivery yesterday - few thoughts relative to a 2017 MX P100DL

I'm in this camp as well. True that the X/S might have a bit too much screen real estate going on...the main benefits for me are: - giant map view, can still have the music interface partially expanded and there's still a great view of the map. - the center display still feels more natural for...

Model Y delivery yesterday - few thoughts relative to a 2017 MX P100DL

The 2x4 is a great tip! I'm going to use one as an extra guide rather than the cardboard box I've been relying on! Here's my paste on the Used X vs Y comparison from the standpoint of a parent and constantly hauling stuff around...again keeping in mind that this is comparing to a Feb 2017 Model...

Model Y delivery yesterday - few thoughts relative to a 2017 MX P100DL

Apologies, yes, Hold mode is the correct term/setting in the menu. You're right, it's great in tight spots. Right now I'm backing up to an inch or less of a box in the garage and can consistently position the car there with one pedal. Another feature that is probably similar across all new...

Model Y delivery yesterday - few thoughts relative to a 2017 MX P100DL

Two adults camping in the back shouldn't be an issue....at 6 feet I felt like I could be fully stretched out with a couple inches of foot room to spare. Climbing in through the hatch trunk was nice and easy. Side note, I wrote a long response to another parent who was asking about a Model Y...

Model Y delivery yesterday - few thoughts relative to a 2017 MX P100DL

Correct on all of those points! I can only compare back to my 2017 X, but totally understand and it's worth repeating that there have been so many upgrades to the X since then, particularly with the Raven platform. Would definitely not rely on STOP pulling into my garage, it's already a tight...

Model Y delivery yesterday - few thoughts relative to a 2017 MX P100DL

It feels about what I'm used to given that I usually keep the X at Low or sometimes Very Low.....when I got in (that moment when the feel of a new car hits you), I didn't think "Oh wow, this feels so low". It felt very similar to the X. Last time I got in an S, I was taken aback by how low it...

Model Y delivery yesterday - few thoughts relative to a 2017 MX P100DL

A few other notes that probably apply to M3 owners as well. Really liking the permanent magnet motors, and more specifically the STOP mode and more aggressive nature of the regen. I realize this will really come down to preference, but I immediately liked the overall feeling of this and true...

Model Y delivery yesterday - few thoughts relative to a 2017 MX P100DL

Ha! Yes, the X shows you a ton of information that you don't necessarily need. It's not so much the information design that I'm having a tougher time adjusting to, it's really the positioning. Glancing down and "through" the wheel on the X/S feels pretty natural.....the offset screen is just an...

Model Y delivery yesterday - few thoughts relative to a 2017 MX P100DL

Had a long range Model Y on order and heard that the local SC had a few Y's that had become available. The long range in Midnight Silver was claimed about an hour earlier, but there was a Performance model available in Midnight Silver so we said "Yes please!". So this is a Model Y Performance...

    AP1 vs. AP2

AP2 seems pretty aware of other vehicles around, but it only shows them on the display when you engage a turn signal. It's not really clear whether or not this is intentional and meant to keep the design cleaner, or if the multi-vehicle tracking isn't accurate enough to display full-time. Last...

Blackvue DR650S Review + Tesla Model X Install

Haven't tried it, but I would be worried that the more of the interior in frame, the less your exposure is going to be balanced for everything outside the car. Having it looking almost entirely out the window means it will be fairly balanced for everything outside. The interior is so much...

Model X AP1 is more stable than AP2?

I'm in the camp of thinking that it's really more of a software problem than a hardware problem at this point. Elecktrek.co has mentioned a few times that the sensors (cameras, radar, sonar, gps) only need to be marginally better than the human eye to drive a car as safe or safer and I agree...

Blackvue DR650S Review + Tesla Model X Install

We did an install of the DR750S in our X yesterday and used Nerdy_Engineer's video as well. The only thing we haven't done yet is run it through the ap2 housing or the rubber strip along the panoramic windshield. Still kind of hesitant to pry that stuff off, but I'm sure we'll do it at some...

Rear seat will not fold - 6 month wait for repair??

Our's had the problem with one of the rear seats being stuck in the down position. Reported it to the service center on August 4th and a replacement set of seats had arrived and was installed within 2 weeks. 6 weeks seems way to long....6 months is nuts.

How Many Considering Model X or Much Less Expensive Car?

We used to drive a 2005 Toyota Sienna which we bought used in 2008 when we traded on our 1998 RAV4....not flashy, not fancy, but we weren't "fancy car" people. Also had a Prius and that was as fancy as it got. NEVER would have thought about spending more than maybe $40k on a new vehicle. But in...

We drove out Model X P100D down to a remote road in Nebraska for totality and I've just started going through the shots. This is one of my favorites so far: Praying to the Solar Gods

What have you named your car?

Didn't give my Model S a name, haven't and probably won't give the Model X a name. I don't know what it is, I just really have an aversion to giving a vehicle a name. Maybe it reminds me of how people name boats, which I always thought was kind of lame (and I spent a good chunk of growing up...

Another Model X Problem!!! 3rd row seat stuck in down position.

MXP100D, drivers side third row got stuck last week and won't release. The motor makes a sound like it's trying to do something, but the lock stays firmly engaged. SC didn't even need to look at it, they just went ahead and ordered a replacement as soon as I reported it.

Sneak peek of my Tesla garage

That looks sweet! Are you going to paint the same type of thing on the floor where you park? I love pulling into Superchargers that have the Tesla logo painted on the ground at each stall, looks premium!

What are the odds? Watched an X get hit..

Your profile says Ft Lauderdale, FL.....if this was in Florida then I'd say the odds are pretty high there. Recently drove the length of Florida and I have to say that most of the drivers there were to absolute worst I have ever seen....constant "accidents waiting to happen", especially around...

    2017.28 c528869

I finally had a chance to get out on the highway with this update today and was really impressed with how smooth the lane changes are now. Lane changes on the last two versions were really aggressive and jarring....on this version it really feels like they've nailed the feeling of a confident...

Loaner MX with AP1 vs AP2

Exact same situation. I bought an AP1 Model S in 2015 a few months before any of the lane keeping, auto park, summon, etc features were added. I thought it was very forward thinking that the hardware was available on the car even if the software wasn't there yet. As those features came online...

    17.26.76 New Update

"Furthermore, while it is currently ahead, Tesla doesn’t have the capital that these companies have, neither does it have their capability of running tests across the globe" This was a gem too. They failed to mention that even though a lot of the big automakers are sitting on piles of capital...

Loaner MX with AP1 vs AP2

I think that was their original plan. It was pretty clear that they were banking on being able to have the overlap between Mobileye and Tesla Vision, and were expecting to use AP1 to help validate and refine AP2 during the transition. It doesn't seem like they were at all expecting that Mobileye...

    Model X P100D - Just finished Miami->Minneapolis - A few notes

Our's had 2200mi showroom, picked up in Dania Beach. Our delivery experience was great, but also pretty straightforward because we had 2 yrs prior experience with the S, a bit of experience with the X, and really didn't need to do much more than sign the papers. I had a few obscure questions...

    Model X P100D - Just finished Miami->Minneapolis - A few notes

Hopefully the sensitivity threshold for the steering wheel detection is a software thing and not a hardware thing, seems like it would be. I found myself having to clock the wheel hard enough to cause the vehicle to move within the lane just to let it know that my hands were on the wheel. Seems...

    Model X P100D - Just finished Miami->Minneapolis - A few notes

I just finished driving a new (inventory) P100D from Miami to Minneapolis and wanted to post a few notes about the trip while they're fresh in my mind. I spent most of the trip on 17.24.30 and laid down at least 1,600 miles using Autopilot. I'm coming from a Model S 85D and a few of these are...

Project Loveday submission - SUPER QUICK fan video

Here's a submission my wife and I made for Project Loveday. My wife summed it up pretty well: "The Project Loveday contest seemed like a really great opportunity to share our Tesla love/obsession with likeminded folk – but also to possibly reach a bigger audience. I wanted to focus on some...

Valet mode still shows GPS places

Great stuff! I'm going in for my annual service next week so I'll be sure to have the tech log the bug (maybe it's already fixed in 8.0?). I had called to ask them about the issue, and he seemed pretty surprised that location info was still accessible.

Valet mode still shows GPS places

Hey guys, I was planning on bringing my Model S to a local kids event with fun and interesting vehicles, thought it might be a good way to help give the next generation some exposure to electric vehicles (since the majority will probably be driving them by the time they have their licenses....my...

    Supercharger - Kennewick, WA

Moving from Oregon to Minnesota and we're hitting the road tomorrow. I'll be driving the 85d and the run from The Dalles to Ritzville seems like it's cutting it close....especially given that I'll have two kids in the back seat, and about 200-300 extra pounds of moving boxes. I don't suppose...

Model S Order & Delivery Tracker

Sorry to hear that! Just got a call from my DS saying our's has cleared production and should be up here next week. Model S Order & Delivery Tracker

Exactly. You would think that there would be inherently better communication with their business model given that we're not going through dealerships for these purchases. Everyone we deal with is an employee of Tesla and are directly connected to the company.

Model S Order & Delivery Tracker

Ha, it doesn't make me feel better, makes me feel like my chances just got worse! I'm hoping if it finishes production within the next day or two, they'll have no problem getting it one state over (in Oregon for a couple of more weeks) in time. - - - Updated - - - Just realized you were...

Model S Order & Delivery Tracker

Yeah, he mentioned that as far as he could tell it should roll off soon but said that they don't have much visibility on where a car is at. We're under a bit of a timeline as we're moving halfway across the country mid-August and we had plenty of assurances and 99.9% certainties that we'd take...

Model S Order & Delivery Tracker

Fingers crossed on this end! Mine also flipped on the 13th, but didn't receive the email until the 15th or 16th. Just checked and it's still in production, day 13.

    70D stuck in production?

I mentioned it in the delivery thread but I'll post here as well. Have an 85D that went into production on July 13th and is still going (so day 12 now). Our DS said that Tesla had just changed their QA inspections procedure to be more thorough and that could be contributing to a longer build time.

Model S Order & Delivery Tracker

I've been waiting on an 85d to roll out of production. It started on July 13th, so we're at 11 days now which seems like it's a bit long given that the car was marked "hot" at the beginning of production. I was speaking with the delivery specialist and he mentioned that they just started doing a...
