It will begin doing random reboots in about a month. I am averaging 1 reboot every week. REflashing does nothing and it will eventually fail, they are hoping AFTER the warranty expires

Happens to me TWICE every single day as i drive to work at sunrise and return at sunset. This is why tesla will never have self driving capability you need video and Lidar for FSD

I applied in nov of 2016 and didnt get until feb 2017, for some reason they sent me a renewal in 2020!!! I think it was related to late year application and new year delivery

I had a high end stereo done on mine and the installer did lots of sound absorbing to minimize vibrations. Prob not as much as your guy will do but it made CLEAR difference in tire noise post install and a WAY more solid sound from the equipment. cant wait to hear your report

I was charged $2000 for the "refurbished" MCU which began rebooting weekly about 2 months ago and is laggy as hell. I took it in for the reboots and they said it was fine. I will hopefully be reimbursed for the $2000 MCU replacement per the nov 9th email but im sure it will have to be a fight...

Well, if they were an honorable company that may be the case, but they will likely consider the replacement as a replacement part thus all the "rights" as a replacement part are in effect nullifying the 8 year warranty on the original part and replacing with the one year replacement part...

Classic symptoms Reboots, laggy as hell. waiting for steering wheel control failures and then finally MCU death....no doubt the "remanufactured" units are previous failure MCU1's tested and refurbished if they dont meet certain specs. some failed units are likely deemed OK and re-installed

You are missing the point. Tesla is not going to fix an intermittently rebooting MCU. they will merely keep your car for two days to a week, wave their hands, say they reflashed the henway, say "working per specifications" and hand you back the same intermittently rebooting MCU. My MCU got...

The key here is what is considered a malfunction: "Tesla is providing eligible owners who experience a malfunction no-cost repairs to this part at any Tesla Service Center for 8 years/100k miles from initial delivery date. If you do not experience a malfunction, there’s no need to take action"...

And unless it is black they will not do a damn thing...they will say they reflash and everything is normal blah blah blah...and it will still be laggy and reboot a couple times a week but none chance at a new (oh sorry REFURBISHED) MCU1.

first mention in this thread of need for MCU2 for this feature. My MCU 1 failed just out of warranty so had to pay $1800 for new one they wouldnt do the upgrade altough i asked and was willing to pay (something about "limited availability") At least I now have a remote shot at getting my money...

Yes it is, at least in america. I have an aftermarket stereo installed (after warranty expired thank god) and everytime i bring it in they try to blame the stereo on whatever failure happened (4x Steering wheel controls, 1X MCU (going on 2X) new motor and axles 1x)

depending on year and model it is "normal". i have a nov 2016 s with upgrade seats and they have rubbed since day 1. dealer said there is no adjustment

They didn't fix it the first time for free it was $1800, car has been out of warranty for 25K miles and the original failed MCU had the reboot issues and failed steering controls for a year before the stereo was installed. All the symptoms last time and this time were classic eMMC memory...

I would think that with all the available cameras on the car they would allow the option to view passenger side camera when in reverse (parallel parking), and the back up camera lines are WAY off on width of tire track
