    Sounds good to me too!

    Tesla in Australia

I think all of the Melbourne reservation holders should've recently received an email from Cary - no news other than what has been already mentioned, but it was good of him to make contact with the latest timelines and indicate his availability to "talk Tesla"! Exciting times.

Financing and Insuring your Model S

Hey guys, With the (hopefully) imminent arrival of pricing information, I thought it might be interesting to start a thread to discuss the purchase process, particularly, how people are planning to pay for their new Electric CruiseBeasts. This will be the most I've ever invested into a vehicle...

    Mobile charging for Australia

Agreed, I was using a Clipper Creek 10A mobile charger with an i-MiEV temporarily a few years back, I'm not sure it's really worth the extra $700 to get another 5A on top of that, it's still going to be a butt-achingly slow charge.

Where's the SIM card located? Surely it couldn't be that hard to let customers put in whatever provider's card they'd like, if it's easily accessible.
  6. S

    Tesla in Australia

Yeah, that's why I asked! If you don't mind me asking, when did you place your reservation? Prod or Sig?
  7. S

    Tesla in Australia

Hmm, when did you place your reservation? I haven't heard anything yet! Hoping someone makes contact with the Melbourne reservation holders soon. Incidentally, I'm pretty keen on the brown, but will reserve judgement until I can see a sample!

Tesla credit card key - who's interested?

I'd be extremely surprised if this were possible.

    Tesla in Australia

Ironically, I'd really love to get Euro plates on my Model S - I think they suit the body shape incredibly well! However, I'm not sure if getting Euro plates on an American car is a crime too serious to consider :p

FFS, all you ever do is come in here and bag Australia. Piss off back to your own forum.
  11. S

    Got it!

Beautiful! That's the combo I'm planning on getting - 19" standard wheels on brown. Looks great.

    Tesla in Australia

I just did it online with my bank, no problems.

    Australian Supercharger network

I think one in each of, say, Melbourne and Sydney would be great for people that haven't yet got charging available in their homes or workplaces, or can't easily get it installed (eg. apartment buildings, etc).
  14. S

    Tesla in Australia

Yep, don't think that includes sig reservations though, so probably over the 200 mark easily by now. Of course, I expect the number will drop, perhaps substantially, when pricing is finally released.

    Australian waiting list

60 kWh base model will be around $100k, hopefully just a smidgen under. We'll know for sure in the next couple of weeks.
  16. S

    Australian Supercharger network

I think they're completely viable, as long as you're aware of your requirements. I'm planning on getting one - I don't think I've driven further than 200km away from Melbourne for years. Any further than that and it's easier to fly.

    BMW i3 in Australia

Pretty standard behaviour for BMW there. Their ActiveHybrid 5 goes for about US$61k over the pond, but $120k here. Go figure! The Tesla at $100k will be more competitive here against the i3 than it'll be in the US.
  18. S

    Tesla in Australia

I find it highly unlikely that the base price for any Model S here would be $69,900 - considering that's the exact base price in the USA :p
  19. S

    Tesla in Australia

Interesting, I'm guessing this is probably due to the variation in stamp duty between states. Thanks for the info!
  20. S

    Tesla in Australia

Of course - but I argue that, adjusted for the Australia tax, the ratios are pretty much equal. The Leaf, for example, is around $28k in the US before tax credits, approximately 40% the base Model S RRP. Here, it's close to $40k - which is also approximately 40% the cost of a 60 kWh S, if the...

    Tesla in Australia

I don't really know why people were expecting they'd be cheap here, compared with other luxury cars. Sure, the US list price for the 60 kWh model is just shy of USD$70k. But there, that price can get you a BMW ActiveHybrid 5 with plenty of options - the same car retails for over $130k here. If...

    Tesla in Australia

Those are very close to the numbers I'd come up with as well, here's hoping! If I can get a 60 kWh Model S with a few options (metallic paint, tech package, pano roof, parking sensors) for under six figures, I'd be extremely happy.

    Roadtrip Tilburg-Monaco, February 2014

A brilliant adventure, thanks for sharing! I've driven some of the roads between Nice and Monaco and can only imagine how great it'd be to look down upon the sea in a Model S.

Couldn't agree more. Perhaps we can keep the political discussion out of this forum and instead focus on that which brings us together, the wonders of Tesla!

Upcoming Australian pricing - help needed from Tesla management

While of course I'd love to see this happen, as an Australian reservation holder, you have to remember that the situation with the Fluence was quite different. Because that car was marketed inclusive of the quick battery-switching technology that was to be supplied by Better Place, you weren't...
  26. S

    Tesla in Australia

That's just not going to happen, unfortunately, as much as I'd love it to be the case. The base 60 kWh version has an MSRP of $69,900 in the US right now, not including delivery etc. That's well over $77k converted to AUD, not including any of our additional taxes and charges, or delivery to...

Nice work, I'm jealous. Are factory tours available for any Australian reservation holder? I'm probably visiting the bay area in a few months and would love to check it out.

Great news, hope you're right, Jmac!

A poster on another forum just made a reservation - looks like we're up to #166 in Australia as of the start of March.

I want to believe, but I'm pretty sure they've been saying this for months. I'll believe it when the prices are in my browser window :P

    Tesla in Australia

I can't imagine that a 10% reduction will make much difference to when you receive your car - I wouldn't be surprised if they all come over on the same boat actually. Besides, I have a bit of a hunch that you might see a greater number of cancelled reservations after the pricing is announced -...

    Yep - I'm #131, reserved in December.

Good luck with that with the current government - so far, they haven't exactly been pushing the pro-environmental policies.

I am ridiculously excited at the prospect of a test drive! Would fly to Sydney if it meant it was likely to happen sooner :)

That Hong Kong pricing is looking pretty good! Also, the treasurer suggested today that as a result of Toyota's decision to shut up shop in Australia, there may be a reduction in tariffs for imported cars... could only be good news for Tesla purchasers. Joe Hockey, Toyota at odds whether union...

delivery dates for model s in the UK

Just in case you guys hadn't seen this already, check out from 1:35, where Elon talks about the RHD version first appearing in April, at yesterday's press conference: Tesla CEO: Very optimistic for 2014 - CNBC From another eagerly awaiting in an RHD country!

No sign of Tesla shipping to Australia / New Zealand

Nice pickup, Audie! I hadn't yet checked out the press conference, that's great news. We might see a Model S or two in Australia in the first half of the year, after all!
  39. S

    Will I get bored?

Man, I'm jealous of the low finance rates you guys pay over there. Here in Australia, you can't find a car lease for under 6%, with most around the 8-10% mark!

No sign of Tesla shipping to Australia / New Zealand

Got a reply to an email this morning - apparently they're hoping to announce pricing in the "next month or two". Fingers crossed!

Looking at a used Model S (been in accident)

Haha, that's super keen - moving for the car without a job? I'm keen for my Tesla but I don't know if I'd go quite that far, good luck to you :P

Yeah, some indicative pricing at least would be awesome.

    Tesla in Australia

We shall see! I've just gone through the reservation process in the last week - a lot later than most of the other reservation holders on here, but I can't wait to get my hands on a Model S in Melbourne. Still quoting Q2 2014 delivery, which seems pretty optimistic... We're now up to #131, for...
