I revived this old thread to ask if that space is just totally empty if you do not have the Ultra High Fidelity sound package. I.e., any shielding or anything at all behind that mesh?

I tried that or very close to it. Will try again tonight but literally with no gap from headliner or mirror base to the transponder. Thanks!

Upon closer examination, noticed the plate frame I got is actually plastic! Did anyone get a nice metal one?

I did. It worked one day and didn't at all the next. Switch near headliner or switch near the base of mirror? Is the point to get switch on or near black dots? Btw, I put it on top of rear parcel shelf and it worked perfectly.

Not just BMW. Porsche is definitely a water based paint system, as is likely the rest of the VW Group.

I have the coils and am very happy so far. I also have the standard radio and no complaints.

I spoke with Tesla tech support just now. They said folks have had success mounting on the rear glass--to the right or left of the speaker housing. Has anyone tried this?

Thanks--worked perfectly. I have an ATT Microcell at home and I read that might create a weird tethering issue when the car is in the garage. Turned BT on phone off approaching the house and then on again leaving the house and have had no issues since. Hoping this bug is fixed, so won't have...

2015 70D. Tried the SoCal MetroExpress Lanes switchable transponder on both sides of the rear view mirror with no luck. Any advice?

I just picked up my 70D on Friday. Now i have no 3G connection. Can anyone instruct me how to "reboot?" Or should I go to the SC? Btw, I do have an ATT Microcell at home.

In the end, it's all about what we are individually looking for from the car. I'm coming from a Volt as my daily driver, so the 70D will be great. I'd love to have the acceleration and added range of the 85D, but it would be a splurge for me for my commute--which is through heinous traffic anyway.

Thanks for posting! The lurch from the rear should hopefully be fixed via and OTA update? Sounds like this review answers the question regarding performance of the 70D versus the S85. Also, the improved sound deadening from the cars they tested a couple of years ago.

Does the premium package come with the nicer aluminum looking pedals?

Felt the same the Volt?! I have a Volt also--and it's a 9 second 0-60 car. I can't imagine that the 70D is equal from 0-30 and then it goes light speed 30-60 in order to reach 60, 4 seconds faster than the Volt!

On my Volt, I placed all 4 stickers according to the instructions... However, after driving in the HOV lane for 100 miles / day during the work week the past 3 years, I've noticed that many cars have less than 4 stickers--some only have the one small one on the rear bumper! Just curious what...

Yep! I told him I usually listen to talk radio and some music--but never cranked up. He made it a point to only have me test drive cars with standard audio--so if it was sufficient, no need to second guess whether or not to spring for the $2,500 UHF package.

FWIW, my owner advisor knew that I preferred connection with the road (went in the weekend / fun car) and told me to go with the stock coil setup. The air will be smoother for sure, but if you want to "feel" the road, he said to stick with the stock. On a side note--it's refreshing to receive...

When I went in to test drive, the 70D wasn't available. My Owner Advisor told me the 85D they had was "pre software update" and should provide a decent proxy. It had more power but also more weight than the 70D.

Also with the model line appearing to go AWD and recent software updates unlocking additional performance and Elon touting the dual motor setup, one wonders if there will be future improvements available for the 70D over the S85.

Totally agree! Love my Volt. Never a single problem and it served its purpose perfectly.

@llavalle -- Would you say that in real life the grey interior is so light that it's almost a "cool white?" And it looks so different depending on the color of the headliner!
